69 Chapter 69: Disappointment 4

Since it was Sunday, Qiao An had all day for herself. She wanted to use the girls outing to find a suitable outfit for Lei Xiao's wedding.

Qiao An went out of her room to find her brother on the dining table with the housekeeping auntie serving his food.

"Miss Qiao An, do you have specific food you want to eat for breakfast?" The housekeeping auntie knew that Qiao An was the master's sister. So, she was very polite to Qiao An.

"No need. I'm going out with a friend." Qiao An waved her hand to decline.

"You don't even want to eat at home now?" Jin stopped eating and looked at Qiao An. "I should talk to Shen Jun Shan. Why is he keep on taking you out? So what if he is your boyfriend? You should spend time with your family too."

The trace of bitterness in Jin's sound was evident, and he did not even try to conceal it. Qiao An was standing and looking at him as if he was wrong.

"Who said I'm going out with Jun Shan? I have a girl's day out with Amy." Qiao An took the seat opposite to Jin and sat down. "Maybe I'll take a cup of coffee. Black coffee, please. Thank you, auntie."

The housekeeping auntie smiled and went to the kitchen. After a while, the auntie came out with a cup of black coffee and put it in front of Qiao An.

"Is there something wrong with you, brother? Why are you so bitter?" Qiao An took the coffee and sipped it. The bitterness in Jin could rival the black coffee.

An idea came to Jin. "Do you need to send you off somewhere? I'm free now. I can drive you around."

"No need. I'll call for a taxi." Qiao An did not know what happened between Jin and Amy Shen, but she did not want to make things severe.

Jin insisted on sending Qiao An to the outing place. He wanted to take this time to see Amy Shen and maybe appropriately apologized to her about what happened in Mistry Bar. Lucky him, after persuading Qiao An for the nth time, Qiao An gave up and let Jin sent her to the meeting place.

The place that Qiao An and Amy Shen agreed to meet up was in a small restaurant near the shopping mall. The plan was to get breakfast in the restaurant; then, they will go to the mall for their girl's outing.

When Jin and Qiao An reached the restaurant, Amy Shen was already seated in one of the tables there. Qiao An unbuckled her seatbelt hurriedly and thanked her brother. Qiao An thought that her brother would go back home right after that. Who knew that Jin also unbuckled his seatbelt and turned off the car's engine. After that, he went over to the girls' table.

Amy Shen saw Jin approached their table, and she wanted to hide and run. She did not want to see Jin at the moment. But since it came to this, she had to pretend that nothing happened.

Amy Shen said nothing, but Qiao An looked at her brother like he had grown two heads.

"Why are you here? Shouldn't you go back home now?" Qiao An did not want to make it evident that she was trying to get rid of her brother.

"I feel like eating here. I never eat here." Jin took the seat beside Amy Shen. Now Amy Shen was seated in between Qiao An and Jin, but she said nothing.

Amy Shen is a cheerful person. She is also very polite and easy to get along with. But, this time, Amy Shen did not take the initiative to greet Jin like she always does. Qiao An was sure that something must have happened to Jin and Amy Shen.

"You already eat breakfast at home just now. Why are you eating again? You'll get fat." Qiao An said savagely.

Jin loves his sister a lot, but now that his sister exposed him in front of Amy Shen, he had a second thought about spoiling Qiao An in the future. Jin thought that maybe next time, he should not pamper her too much.

"Why are you preventing me from eating? I can eat a lot, and this restaurant seems to have a wide selection of menu I can try," Jin rebutted.

The step-siblings were glaring at each other, and nobody wanted to admit defeat. Amy Shen, who was seated in the middle, could not take the childish argument between the step-siblings. "It's okay, we all can eat here."

Ah, Amy Shen is the most understanding person. Jin was happy when Amy Shen said that they all could eat there. He thought that he might have a chance to talk and ease things between him and Amy Shen. But who knew that Amy Shen did not even spare him a glance.

Well, Amy Shen did, but it was a short glance lasting only a few seconds. Jin did not even have the chance to take a good look at Amy Shen's face since he entered the restaurant. Amy Shen had been smiling all the time, even when she glanced at Jin, but it was not enough.

Jin needed more. That was why when they finished eating, Jin involuntarily followed the girls to the mall. Only this time, Qiao An was adamant about getting Jin to leave them alone.

"Don't tell me you want to join us?" Qiao An folded her hands. "Brother, this is our girls day out. We are going to get facial, manicure, pedicure and we are going to the boutique to try a hundred clothes. Do you want to join that too?"

Finally, Jin surrendered and went back to his house. Before he walked away, he told Qiao An to give him a call when she was done so that he could pick her up.

It must be Amy Shen's imagination, but she felt that Jin's eyes lingered on her for sometimes before he walked to his car. There was even sadness in his eyes.

Sadness? She must be hallucinating. The one who was supposed to be sad was her. She was practically left alone before Ling Qi coincidently came to her, and Jin had a beautiful lady to accompany her.

If anyone wanted to talk about sadness and anger, then the person should be her.

Qiao An was quite happy to be able to get rid of her brother. Amy Shen heard her mumbled about Jin being irrationally controlling, and she even said that she could not wait to get out of his house.

After lunch, Amy Shen and Qiao An went to the nail spa in the mall. They were getting manicure and pedicure. While getting their nails done, Qiao An took the time to ask if anything's wrong with Amy Shen and Jin.

Amy Shen was reluctant to speak at first because she felt that it was not a big deal to talk about and maybe, it was just her that was angry for a small reason like that. Qiao An listened attentively until Amy Shen was done telling her side of the story.

"I know her too. We had breakfast together yesterday." Qiao An told Amy Shen anything she knew about Shirley Wang and how Shirley Wang had a crush on Jin.

Amy Shen was quiet the whole time because she knew there must be something between Shirley Wang and Jin. But a blind date with a possibility of marriage in the future was not something she could think of.

It all made sense now of why Jin canceled their plan quickly for the sake of Shirley Wang. Shirley Wang was someone who could be Jin's potential wife; it was understandable that Jin had to get his priority right.

But why did her heart hurt so much knowing such information?
