50 Chapter 50: Intruder Alert 3

Shen Jun Shan came right away after the call from Qiao An. He changed his formal shirt with an exercise shirt, but the slack pant remained.

Qiao An was waiting for Shen Jun Shan at the front door and when she saw him, the weariness in her face faded.

Qiao An brought Shen Jun Shan to the bookshelf and pointed towards the book. "The arrangement of the books was off."

Shen Jun Shan took a careful look at the books. The three-tier shelf was full of books. The bottom shelf was an individual book or novel, the middle shelf was for poetry books, and the top shelf was for books series.

Qiao An sorted all her book in the bottom and middle shelf according to alphabetical order. Meanwhile, the book on the top shelf was in numerical order according to their series.

But one book was slightly off – the Harry Potter and the order of Phoenix.

That book is the fifth book from the Harry Potter books. By the way, Qiao An arranged her book, that particular book should be in between The Goblet of Fire and the Half-Blood Prince.

But now, Shen Jun Shan saw that the book was placed in front of the Philosopher's stone.

"I swear I did not move any of my books. I always put them in their place. Nothing changed in this house except for that one." Qiao An sat down. "Jun Shan, do you think I'm crazy?"

Seeing how Qiao An was sad, Shen Jun Shan's heart was in pain too. He went over to Qiao An's seat and hugged her.

Both of them were silent the whole time as Shen Jun Shan did not know what else he could do to soothe Qiao An.

After some time, Shen Jun Shan spoke. "How about we changed all the locks in your house. I keep on thinking about it. This person enters your house but takes nothing as if he or she just want to look around your house. Another thing, it seems as if the person enters from the door as there is no sign of breaking in. Someone must have the key to your house. Nothing went missing from your house, right?"

Qiao An straightened her body. She shook her head. "Nothing is missing."

Since Qiao An was shaken by what happened to her house, she did not feel like staying there for the time being. Shen Jun Shan suggested that Qiao An stayed somewhere else first for the time being.

But when Qiao An called Jin, Jin was in City T. At first, Qiao An planned to stay at Jin's place until all the locks in her house were replaced. It was just too bad that Jin was not around. Shen Jun Shan suggested that Qiao An stayed with them first.

Qiao An took all her necessary thing to stay overnight. She estimated that the locks could be changed the next day since Shen Jun Shan promised to help her to find a trustworthy party to do the job.

When Amy Shen saw Qiao An with her things, she was very curious, but when Shen Jun Shan explained the situation to her, Amy was surprised. After all, she knew how careful Qiao An is with her things.

There absolutely no way for Qiao An to let her book stuffed randomly when Amy Shen knew that Qiao An treated all her books like her precious baby.

Ten minutes before eight, Jin called Qiao An back to ask her what happened that she suddenly wants to stay with Jin at the bungalow. Jin had been trying to get Qiao An to stay with him, but Qiao An refused repeatedly.

Qiao An told him the truth; about how she thought someone broke into her house and she will be staying with the Shen siblings that night. Upon hearing so, Jin was very grateful to Shen siblings.

Since Qiao An did not have a book with her, she sat down at the sofa quietly, not knowing what to do since around this time, she usually read. Shen Jun Shan came to sit beside her, trying to ask her about the lock that she wanted when Qiao An's phone vibrated.

Since Shen Jun Shan was beside Qiao An, he could peek at her reading her incoming text. It was a text from someone named Joel.

In the text, Joel asked if Qiao An was free to meet tomorrow since he has something to give to Qiao An. Shen Jun Shan knew that it was terrible of him to peek at someone's message, but he could not help it.

Shen Jun Shan saw that Qiao An typed 'no' before exiting the messaging app. She then turned to face Shen Jun Shan who was sitting close next to her. "You say something about lock just now. What is it?"

Shen Jun Shan and Qiao An talked about the kind of locks that Qiao An wanted and if they should add other safety features while at it. Both of them were talking animatedly about that.

Amy Shen was staying in her room since she did not want to be the third wheel. She even volunteered to take out the trash to the dumpster outside their block. Shen Jun Shan was the one who always does the chores, but since her brother was busy communicating with his love one, Amy Shen decided to let him off this once.

Amy Shen took the trash bag with her and walked to the dumpster outside their block. The dumpster was shared between their block and the neighbouring block Amy Shen had to walk for about twenty steps to go there.

Since she decided to give some time alone for her brother and Qiao An, Amy Shen took her time walking around to the neighbouring block.

After she was tired of walking around aimlessly, Amy Shen decided to return to her house. She was walking around the corner quietly when she saw a silhouette lingered around Qiao An's car.

Amy Shen approached the parking lot quietly and went behind the rows of car. She could not see the face of the silhouette since it was quite dark, and the person was not facing her. The person crouched, and Amy Shen heard a scratching sound.

Suddenly, Amy Shen recalled what happened this morning; Qiao An said that the scratch got longer that it was yesterday.

She walked faster to approach the person. "What do you think you are doing to people's car?"

The silhouette turned around.

"It's you." Amy Shen gasped.
