36 Chapter 36: Date

Earlier that day.

As Shen Jun Shan and Qiao An were on their way to the coffee shop, both of them were quiet in the car. Shen Jun Shan took the chance to take several glances towards Qiao An.

He did not have a good look at Qiao An earlier because of Yu Jing's incident but now that he looked at her, Shen Jun Shan could see that Qiao An was dressing up a bit for the dinner.

Qiao An was wearing a peach off-shoulder blouse paired up with jeans. Usually, Qiao An will wear a simple tee when they went out for dinner. Having her to wear something more than tee is good enough for a change.

Shen Jun Shan thought that a beautiful woman is always beautiful even when she wears the bare minimum. At this point, Shen Jun Shan was not even shocked at his thought anymore.

"Is it still far?" Qiao An turned to Shen Jun Shan. She was quite hungry, to be honest. Since she started running during the evening, she gets hungry easily after eating. By right, she should have not indulged herself in cakes, but the temptation is real.

Shen Jun Shan hummed without looking at Qiao An. Qiao An wondered if Shen Jun Shan was paying any attention to her question or simply humming distractedly.

What Qiao An did not know was that Shen Jun Shan had been given her a quick look since the start of their journey. Only Qiao An did not know because she did not even spare him any attention.

Shen Jun Shan turned into a busy street and he parked in front of a rustic looking coffee shop. Shen Jun Shan came out of the car and gestured to Qiao An to follow him.

Both of them entered the coffee shop and they sat down in a quiet corner of the shop. There were only a few customers in the shop and the shop played a love song from the '90s. The dimmed lighting gave the impression as of a romantic night.

Qiao An had been looking around the café as if she could not get enough of the interior design and the decorations in the shop. She had a broad smile on her face as if she was very satisfied with the place.

Everything was fine until the waiter came to deliver their order.

Qiao An got a whole cake.

"Um, I'm sorry but you are mistaken. I did not order for a whole cake. I ordered only a slice of this." Qiao An pointed to the whole cake in front of her. She looked at Shen Jun Shan to help her clear the misunderstanding.

The waiter smiled. "I am not mistaken. This cake here is sent by our boss to you. Please accept this."

Qiao An wanted to decline because there is no way she could finish the whole one-kilogram cake on her own. But since the waiter had walked away, she was left with the cake.

"Do you know their boss?" Shen Jun Shan asked. "Do you want me to test this cake for you?"

Qiao An nodded. She cut a slice for Shen Jun Shan to try. Shen Jun Shan ate the cake and after he tasted it, he urged Qiao An to eat it as it was safe.

Another slice of cake with different flavour came into Qiao An's table. Like what the waiter mentioned previously, the cake was from their boss.

"The boss must like you a lot. An An, you have a lot of admirers. It would be hard for me to ward them off." Shen Jun Shan looked at Qiao An and said what was on his mind naturally like it was nothing.

Qiao An stopped eating. "Should we return this cake then?" Qiao An was reluctant to part away with the new cake.

Shen Jun Shan smiled and said nothing. Both of them were eating peacefully when a young man came to their table. This time, the young man brought another cake to Qiao An's table.

"Miss Qiao An, please accept this as a token of appreciation." The young man put a whole vanilla cheese cream cake on the table for Qiao An.

Qiao An looked at the young man who is around mid-twenty. She did not know who the man was.

"I am Shane's brother. Last year you tutor my brother and he got into his chosen university. I couldn't thank you enough for that. I am quite good at baking so please accept this!" As if knowing Qiao An's thought, the man explained.

Qiao An remembered Shane, the kid from her class that she tutored personally last year. Shane also had a younger brother in her class this year. No wonder last time the kid gave her cake suddenly.

The young man was looking at Qiao An with a look of someone who was in love. Shen Jun Shan was not happy about it. He was about to decline the cake for Qiao An but since Qiao An took the cake, he could not say anything about it.

Shen Jun Shan went to wash his hands in the washroom when he bumped into the young man or the boss of the café. Shen Jun Shan told himself that he will not be coming into the café anymore but the young man changed his mind.

"Hello, Miss Qiao An's boyfriend. I am very happy to have you here. I never thought that I will get to see Miss Qiao An here."

When he heard the 'boyfriend' part, Shen Jun Shan smiled broadly. "The cake here is very nice. I like the ambience too – very romantic. An An likes the decorations".

Shen Jun Shan and the boss exchanged a few words before Shen Jun Shan returned to his seat.

Since Qiao An could not finish eating all the cake given to her, she had to take it away. Shen Jun Shan was being a gentleman; he helped Qiao An to carry the takeaway box.

Their journey home was very peaceful, both of them were happy. They even talked about the boss of the café and what happened with the brother of the boss.

When they reached the parking lot, Shen Jun Shan turned off the engine of his car and turned to Qiao An.

"An An, let's do this again frequently; just you and I."

Since Shen Jun Shan came in too suddenly, Qiao An was not ready. And when she was caught by surprise, one thing that was on her mind was to run away from the situation.

Qiao An nodded and got out of the car. Shen Jun Shan followed after her with the takeout box on his hand.

"An An, why are you running away from me?" Shen Jun Shan called to Qiao An, feeling giddy that Qiao An was embarrassed.

Qiao An turned around and Shen Jun Shan held her wrist. By right, if someone touched Qiao An's hand, she will pull it away in an instance but not this time. This time, she was not disgusted. And Qiao An liked how Shen Jun Shan held her hand gracefully.

"Your cake. If you don't eat this, the young boss will be sad."

Shen Jun Shan gave the box to Qiao An and pulled Qiao An with him to go up the stairs.
