1 Tomorrow’s eternity

What do you think of when you hear the word Werewolf?

Well many of you would believe that a werewolf was a hybrid. Half wolf half man. Well in that aspect your pretty much correct. A werewolf sometimes known as a lycanthrope, is a human with the ability to become a wolf-life creature whose transformation is closely related to a full moon but the thing about werewolves is that you wouldn't be able to tell the difference between them and a normal human being. See they have the ability to morph themselves into 6 foot tall wolves with the power and strength of a bear, and the speed and agility of well, a normal wolf. The thing is werewolves aren't necessarily aggressive but are rather docile and timid when in their wolf form. You may think that they would communicate by a series of barks and howls but instead they send images to all the wolves in the immediate area. Well your probably interested to know how I know these things. I'm sixteen and have moved out of home and lets just say I've had well no over the passed few months let's just say I've had enough of an experience for the both of us.

Weeks upon weeks pass by all through winter there have been a pack of incredibly huge wolves lingering throughout the Forrest and had disappeared during the months of summer. In particular I've noticed one wolf who tends to sit on the edge of the forest as if he's watching me. He sits glued to that one spot in the woods, not quite fully under the cover of the trees but enough for him to camouflage with the undergrowth. His emerald eyes are wild and glow violently against his dark muzzle. His coat a deep black colour with white edges and grey speckles reminds me of the sky in summer shining brilliantly under the gaze of the moon. His coat of stars effortlessly darts through the Forrest until he finds the spot of dead grass where for hours he watched me, like he was waiting for me… why would a wolf be waiting for me you ask well I guess it has to do with what happened a few years ago. Theres a legend that the wolves in Lilian's forrest are indeed werewolves and when come into contact with humans have bitten and turned those unsuspecting humans into mighty beasts. In exchange for their own humanity.

The legend reads that once a human is turned into a werewolf they go through an agonising transition, where they loose all recollection of who they once were and what had happened to them. Switching from wolf to human as their body adjusts to the new form, unable to control their body's morphing. I however was lucky….. when I was 8 I was on my swing in the garden when the pack had attacked me dragging me through the Forrest by the collar of my shirt. They didn't bite into me but nibbled at my arms and legs through the flurry of muzzles and fur I spotted the emerald eyed wolf. He let out a low growl as he leapt onto the other wolves surrounding me, when he let out a deep howl. My mother who had seen I was missing from my swing had dashed into the woods after the wolves screaming my name. When she found me she immediately took me to the hospital, not sure at what had happened I was sent home but forbidden to go into the garden during the winter. I'm not sure why the wolf watches me but its comforting, knowing that he protected me from the wolves back then.

It was my 16th birthday and I had moved into my own house across from the woods and I knew I was a werewolf, except I couldn't shape shift and I hadn't had any of the memory loss or transitions from human to a wolf. But the symptoms grew everyday, heightened senses and lower resistance against the cold. I suspected that that was why the wolf waited. One day I decided I would go to him. I walked out into the snow covered lawn I was sure I would touch him. He let me get about 5 metres away when he stood and walked over to me his strong paws left gaping prints in the snow. We approached each other slowly. I had reached out my hand and stroked his head when I immediately saw a flash of light. There lay a boy, a boy my age lay in the wolf's place before me, unconscious Lying in the thick snow. Confused I dragged his body into the house where I ur him onto the couch under a blanket in the warmth of heater next to him I sat there next to him watching him just as he had done the many times before.
