26 Chapter 25: "An Unheard Voice Call"

"Everything is over!"

My tears were rolling on the couch. I tried calling again and again but, she didn't pick up the call at all.

I was hopeless from every sides of the hopes. Only sadness kept me alive, and I didn't know why I was here with a life like this. The regrets kept increasing in my life.

"Did she hear everything we talked?"

I started fearing about losing her permanently. Harini sat beside me holding my hand and keeping my strength, constant. She even requested me to forget whatever happened between us and told me to feel everything was just a dream. I know Prachi would never have an intention of forgetting, something related to me.

"How can I?" "She might don't know how Prachi is."

Easy to be said than doing it, and it was very difficult in confronting her after what she heard about us. I locked myself in my bedroom, and Harini tried to console me but, only heart knows what pain we're suffering from. The time passed to the night, and it went well with regrets, shedding tears on the pillow.

"Maybe, I don't deserve her from the day I propose."

Later that day, I didn't wake up till afternoon. When I opened my eyes, I saw Harini on the bed beside me staring at the window.

"Oh! Did you wake up?" she asked, smiling.

"The door was locked," I drawled, rubbing my eyes.

"I don't know! When I saw in the morning, it was all open," she replied.

"What makes you sit here?"

"I came here to give you your phone," she conceded.

"You forgot in the hall last night," she added.

"Ugh. I don't need this anymore!" I sighed, closing my eyes.

"Prachi called you 50 times," she proclaimed.

"What? Really? It is really about the break up! It's over" I feared.

"Why did she call me this many times just for breakup?"

"I don't think so," she said, picking up my phone from the bed.

"What makes you think that?" I asked.

"Because I lifted her call," she said.

"Her voice didn't look like she called to break up with you," she said.

"Is that true?" I asked.

As I was waiting for her response, my phone chimes and shows me her number. I grabbed my phone from her hands and lifted.

"Hello!" I said after her.

"What happened last night?" Prachi asked.

My pause made fear fill in my heart, gradually.

"No-Nothing happened!" I faltered.

"Should I tell her? I don't know what will happen because she sounds happy, and I don't want to spoil it."

"Ragh! Are you there?" she asked.

"I love you, Prachi!" I smiled.

There was a silence in between, and my expectations were entering the reality.

"I love you too, baby!" she responded.

"Thank goodness."

"There is a medicine wrote by the doctor which makes me feel nauseous, and when you called me, I hung up it but, later, I saw in the morning that it continued till 25 minutes."

"I'm so sorry for making you wait, Ragh," she apologised.

"No need to sorry for that. It's okay sometimes."

"Did you call me for a reason, baby?" she asked.

I paused for a moment and said, "There is nothing like that, Prachi. I just called you to tell you how much I missed you at the conference."

She apologised me for her rude behaviour, and we hanged up the call with a smile.

After that day, Harini and I never spoke about it, and we were busy in college for the next two months.

It was the September month, we almost tried to complete the notes as the semester was heading us at the end of this weekend. As Prachi got cured a month later, we helped in completing her notes, and I helped her studying all the subjects as this was our 1st semester in Engineering life. We had a beautiful time together for weeks. Harini was also spending time with her books and having fun time with Bhargav while Prachi and I locked up in my bedroom.

Prachi was in my arms hugging me tightly on the bed. It was the evening, shattering the morning glimpse of love.

"Baby! It's 9 p.m. Don't you want to go home?" I asked.

She looked at me and questioned, "Don't you like me to stay here?"

"Don't you want my body to stick to you?"

"I-I didn't said like that," I faltered.

"Well," she leaned her face on my chest and said, "I already told them that I'm not coming today."

"Don't you want to study? External Lab exams are tough, a senior said."

"Please, I want your warm body to wet me. It's very cold here," she said, tightening her arms.

"Let me reduce the temperature of AC," I said, picking up the remote from the table.

"No!" she grabbed it from me and said, "Let it be." She smiled.

I took a long breathe and said, "I really don't understand your feelings."

She chuckled.

"I love you!" I kissed on her forehead.

"I love you too!" she kissed on lips.
