Log 9

As she sat there on her bed with the many guards watching her, Colette could only wonder what was to happen to them now. After all so much has happened again during that last breach, and she doubted that they would let this go. Or would they?, which made her think back to 049 and what he sometimes says to her. "They need them.", for their own crooked gains. That much she knew as well as believed with her entire being now. These people needed them, and in so many ways believed that they can control them.

Colette could only mentally laugh at these people, and at the same time she was still scared of them. Due to them using her mother against her, and if she didn't comply with them then her mother would suffer. These people would probably do that to her mother, why else would Dr. Collins threaten her with it before?

She was so focused on her thoughts, that she didn't notice that something happened. Or rather one of the guards walkie talkies went off, and someone was calling for them to bring her.

"Girl!", snapped a guard's voice suddenly to her now which made her both jump out of her thoughts as well as literally.

"Y-Yes!", replied Colette in a bit of a startled voice as she looked at the guard who snapped at her. Her eyes were locked on that guard as he made a curt gesture to the door while holding his rifle firmly in his armored gloved hands. It was then that she realized that he was telling her to move, and it would be wise to listen. "O-oh right!"

Colette was quick to stand up and make her way to her cell door, and as she did so was she followed by the many guards who were all within her room. Honestly, this took her by surprise for she has never seen so many guards with weapons before. Especially being used on her anyway. Calmly as she could, she walked forward as the guards continued to follow close behind her which was a bit intimidating. She was so intimidated that she kept her eyes locked on what was ahead of her, as she listened to voice cues from the guards who were strictly shadowing her and her movements. Just where were they going now? Wasn't there damages and people hurt after the breach?

Or were they too focused on her and 049 at this moment? If that was so, then they were showing what was more important and what was not. And truthfully that scared her. That basically told her that they could care less about certain people, and there was a high chance that her mother was one of those people who they could just throw away. If given the chance.

Colette was so focused on what she was doing as she listened to the guards that they had finally reached their destination. Though it was a interrogation room, or so she believed. Slowly but surely approaching the door, did Colette open the door and walked inside. Once inside did she see that the room was different to what she had once thought. The room was that of security, for there was many screens focused on what was going on within the many rooms that the cameras were in. Not to mention that there was two people in the room, two of which she recognized immediately.

Dr. Collins and Dr. Cade were both in the room, for they were sitting in chairs that were within the room.  As she entered the room and stood there did she see that she was in the center of attention.

"There she is!" chimed Dr. Collins who greeted her with a over friendly smile. Though that smile made her sick to her very core. "Take a seat! You are just in time!"

"In time? For what?", asked Colette now with a confused expression.

"They will be interviewing 049, and asking him questions.", replied Dr. Cade as she looked at one of the TV screens.

"Yep! Apparently they want to hear him talk about you! If it goes well then you both will be permanent room buddies!", laughed Dr. Collins as he looked at Dr. Cade now with a smile. "Which I bet that it will happen and that the two of them will be in the same room as one another!"

Colette's face showed her surprise to the news and in truth she felt happy about that as well. Though her eyes were quick to lock onto Dr. Cade, who didn't look too happy about that. Silently standing there did Colette watch Dr. Cade and the expressions that she was making. Of course she knew how Dr. Cade felt about 049. Colette knew that Dr. Cade didn't trust him. Not one bit.

One moment went by and then two without words, that Dr. Cade looked to be very upset now that she finally spoke up to what she was feeling. "I still DON'T think it is a good idea!?!", somewhat hissed Dr. Cade. "049 is up to something! I know it!"

"Oh please!", snickered Dr. Collins in reply. "Why can't you just enjoy this hellish ride?"

"Ride!?! This isn't some carnival ride!" snarled Dr. Cade at Dr. Collins, speaking of Dr. Collins he merely smiled at her and how angry she was getting. "049 is VERY dangerous!?! Can't you see that!!!"

"Heh, yeah and so is 682 and yet I find him cool! Kind of reminds me of a edgy teenager?", replied Dr. Collins who laughed at the last words that he had said. "Ever since 049 killed that last doctor, you've been on edge about him! You obsessing over him again?"

"Of course!", replied Dr. Cade in a harsh tone as she continued with faint tears of rage within her eyes. "He just wants to kill us all and uses that pitiful pestilence as an excuse to do so!?!"

Hearing Dr. Cade speak in such a way, made Colette feel funny. No...that wasn't right, she actually felt insulted. Colette looking to be greatly uncomfortable now, hugged herself and looked away from Dr. Cade and Dr. Collins both. Her thoughts were then quick to run rampant.

To her, Colette felt like 049 was a genuine being who actually wanted to help them. Hell, he's been working so hard throughout the so many years to perfect his cure. A cure which would help benefit them all. And yet, all of that and all of his hard work was being spat on. It actually hurt, though it wasn't directed at her.

"Whatever!", laughed Dr. Collins shrugging Dr. Cade off as he turned his attention onto Colette now, who was still standing in front of the door. "Take a seat! After all 049 will be talking about you shortly!"

Colette's eyes were slow as they looked at Dr. Collins, and after a good minute or two did she allow herself to move finally. Taking a hold of one of the chairs, did Colette move it away from the two doctors so that she could sit away from them. Dr. Collins merely laughed as she moved away from him and Dr. Cade both. Though Dr. Cade was looking down, probably feeling a bit bad to what she had said.

Dr. Cade was not blind to what was happening between Colette and 049. She knew that they were getting closer, and all that she wanted to do was to in some way keep them apart so that Colette wouldn't get hurt. And yet, it was impossible. Especially now.

"Oh it's starting!", happily laughed Dr. Collins as he made the screen bigger for all of them to see better. After doing so, did he glance over at Colette with a smile. No doubt that he would be watching her and her reactions the entire time.

On the screen before them it showed that all too familiar interrogation room, with one table and chair. Speaking of the room, it looked to be a bit darker than normal as a bright light from the ceiling was shining down onto the entity, who was 049.

The entity was the only one visible on screen, though the voices of two different people on the other side of the room would speak loudly from time to time as they asked him questions. Questions concerning Colette and his connections with her again.

Colette who was watching the screen, could feel her heart race as she watched everything that happened on screen. Though not much would be happening, for it would just be talking and answering questions. Speaking of the questions, how would this determine that her and 049 would be sharing a permanent room? Unless they believe that if he is calm around her, then perhaps he wouldn't try to escape as often?

Softly did she smile as she nonchalantly shook her head to herself. Once again 049 was a cunning individual, and for all she knew. He planned this out. If that is the case, then he was always moves ahead of his opponents. Though her smile went away immediately the moment she heard a laugh, which came from Dr. Collins. Without looking at him, did she keep her eyes on the screen before them. And yes she knew that he was watching her. That creep would be watching her the entire time, and all that she can do was ignore him for now.

****

"This is the start of a interview with SCP-049, in regards to a new individual who is known as Colette at this time.", opened a masculine voice from the screen. "SCP-049, can you tell us your thoughts on this individual?"

"Please refer to her as Colette, who is a person. Not a object.", firmly replied 049 in a insulted tone. Even as the screen slowly zoomed in on his face, did his eyes narrow sharply to show a type of anger. "Her and I are trusted colleagues. So I suggest that you show her the proper respect."

"I see?" was the awkward reply to 049's words. There was no doubt that they could see that he was beginning to get agitated with them, and their disrespect to who they were talking about. Who was, Colette. "We will show her respect, do not worry. We just want to hear your words about her? Why are you seeking her out so strongly?"

Colette was so observant of 049 as they asked their question to him, and the way that his eyes moved. She was so intent on watching this interview now, for she wanted to know 049's thoughts of her. Just why was he seeking her out so? And hell, why was she so comfortable with him?

Her eyes were shaking ever so slightly as she heard 049's familiar voice speak on screen. Though he was speaking, his eyes were lowered onto the table in front of him. 049's head would soon slowly haunch over to hide his face completely from view. But only for a little bit.

"We have a bond. I know that for a fact now. She is special. Unique... She could be what I have been missing?"

"Missing? Can you be more specific so that we can understand?", goaded the masculine voice now with heightened curiosity.

On the screen it was like 049 was trailing off to somewhere in his thoughts, for he was talking to them though he really wasn't. Perhaps it was him speaking his thoughts or feelings out loud?

Did the entity even feel strange talking about her?, for he didn't fully know how to express himself properly?

Dr. Collins was watching the screen with great interest and thought. Even the sight of 049 acting very different from himself, made him all the more curious about the connection between him and Colette. Is it possible that 049 was changing, and that change could be influenced by Colette and her presence?

Now thinking about it to himself, Dr. Collins saw firsthand the heightened calmness that came from entity when Colette was around. Plus how 049 acted when the both of them were kept apart for so long.

He saw it on the cameras when 049 escaped to see her the first time, and how uncomfortable 049 was without Colette nearby. It was like 049 was overcome with great anxiety of some kind, and he had to escape. Just to see her. Hell, the entity was so focused on wanting to see her now all the time. That nothing else mattered. Which was why so many people were so interested in the both of them, and their so called, 'friendship'.

"No. I will not say anymore. I fear I have said too much already.", curtly replied 049 who shook his head now. Not to mention that 049 has now turned his head away from them, which was a obvious sign. He will not say anymore, and will refuse if they were to continue to pry.

"Very well then. Is it safe to assume that if Colette was always with you, then you would refrain from escaping?", asked a feminine voice now. "We were told by one of our own doctors that you would like to stay beside her. Is that true?"

"Huh!" blinked Dr. Cade now. She then looked at Dr. Collins who made a funny face now. "You told them that!?!"

"Well duh?" snickered Dr. Collins as he looked at her. "I want to know what will happen! Come on! Aren't you even a tad bit curious!?!"

"No!?!" snapped Dr. Cade. "Can't you see that if they continue to get closer something bad might happen!!!"

Dr. Collins merely laughed at her as he looked at the ceiling, "Oh please! We work in the world's most dangerous place known to mankind! Hell we have a creature who is like a anglerfish who has a cat lure! Oh and don't forget 682! Oh and 096! Plus my favorite 173!"

"Unbelievable!", replied Dr. Cade who shook her head with one of her hands over her face. "It is like you want to get killed!"

"Pfft! We all will die at some point! Like I said let's enjoy the ride until then!" scoffed Dr. Collins in a laugh as he waved his hand at her. "Man you are such a party pooper!"

As they talked amongst each other, Colette couldn't help but listen to them and everything that they have said. Which honestly took her by surprise. It would seem that the place that she was in, was apparently very dangerous. But she should of figured that out by now, considering that she knows just a bit about who is 682. Though the others who were brought up, she knew nothing about.

That in itself terrified her completely.

What is this place? Monster central?, was the hurried thoughts of Colette's mind as she returned her eyes on the screen with 049 on it. Luckily for her she didn't miss 049's reply.

"It is." was the cool response from 049 who was looking ahead of himself, looking poised as always. "I believe that if her and I both remained together. We can accomplish a variety of things. Besides I enjoy her company, so why should I think of leaving?"

Colette couldn't help but smile a bit to what 049 had said last. It made her happy that he liked interacting with her so much. Her eyes went a bit wide however as she heard the next question that was said, and it was clear that they ignored what he had said last.

"What things? Do you believe that she can in someway help you with the plague that you are trying so hard to cure?", was the question from the same feminine voice.

049 merely went quiet afterwards before giving a small shrug. "Maybe. She can definitely be my assistant when I work. I trust her that much."

Colette would smile after hearing that though she blinked as she heard that all too familiar laugh at her side. Looking over did she see Dr. Collins who was smiling smugly at her. Narrowing her eyes did she frown at him, "What?"

"Oh nothing!", replied Dr. Collins in a bit of a laugh. "Oh well actually?, you have been smiling all this time. You must really like 049 huh?"

"..!" blinking her eyes a few times, Colette looked at him in pure bewilderment and shock. The way that he said that, and how he was looking at her now made him look like a kid who found out the biggest secrets in the world. It was creepy, somewhat. "Why would you assume that!"

"It's written all over your face!" smiled Dr. Collins as he pointed at her face with his right pointer finger. "Just admit it!"

Rolling her eyes at him now, Colette would turn her attention onto the screen that she was looking at. Of course when she did that, did Dr. Collins laugh in a way of saying, 'Hah knew it!"

Though she would look back in light surprise much like Dr. Collins; when Dr. Cade stood up sharply from her seat that she had pushed back some. "I'm going to the restroom.", with those words spitting from her red professionally painted lips did Dr. Cade leave the room.

Colette flinched a bit at the door being slammed behind Dr. Cade. But then she felt very uneasy at the realization that she was now alone with Dr. Collins. Who speaking of, let out a loud whistle after Dr. Cade's abrupt departure. "Someone is pissed~"

"Yeah. She doesn't like how close we are.", sighed Colette as she tries to relax herself. After taking a deep breath did she look at the screen again with a blank face.

"I bet she is jealous? She's obsessed over 049 for so long that she can't control herself now?", sarcastically replied Dr. Collins in a humorous laugh.

Colette's eyes were narrowed some to his words, it was like he sounded crazy. No, he more or less sounded weird. Shaking her head, did Colette relax her features and returned her eyes onto the screen. But it wasn't long until she felt uncomfortable chills go down her spine. It was cause as expected, Dr. Collins was talking to her now. About a certain topic, which she knew immediately would be brought up again when they were to be alone.

"So you want to tell me about that journal now?", asked Dr. Collins in a serious tone with his eyes fixed on the screen. Though the light from the room made his glasses glare up, to hide where he was looking.

Colette whose eyes were on the screen, felt frozen in place. Even her eyes didn't dare to move, much like the rest of her body. However after sometime did she manage to say something, "I don't have it."

"Really? Even if I was to mention that I could probably get your mother out of here for it?"

Huh!?!, was the quick response that went off within her brain. That was a bluff! It had to be!

"I don't believe that not even for a second.", replied Colette as she looked at him now with her eyes narrowed.

Dr. Collins would smile at her as she turned to look at him. Calmly in a smooth manner did he lean forward in his seat some, so that he could see more of her face. And obviously that made her frown, due to her not liking how he was looking at her. "Oh? Why is that?"

"Cause I know you! You threatened my mom! Remember?" glared Colette now with a strong look which held all of her dislike for the man in front of her. Her features would worsen as she heard him laugh at her as he waved his hand at her dismissively. "Hahaha! I was just kidding! Like I would do such a heartless thing!"

****

"...", silence was the reply from Colette as she looked at Dr. Collins who continued to laugh in her presence. Honestly this didn't prove his point, if anything this only made it worse.

He was heartless, along with his actions and words proved it to her.

Dr. Collins would slowly stop laughing as he looked at Colette now curiously with a smile. The sight of her giving him a firm serious look, made him raise a eyebrow at her as his smile grew. "Oh you don't believe me?"

"No.", replied Colette quickly as she glared at him more.

"Eh fine. Just know that I will get what I want." shrugged Dr. Collins who grinned with his arms crossed over his chest. "I am patient. I can wait."

Again that sounds like a threat, grumbled her mind in annoyance. Colette who was frowning more would continue to look at Dr. Collins, who was staring at her with that trademark smug face of his. The guy was just reeking with smugness now, that it made her sick to her stomach.

She literally couldn't stand him!

Closing her eyes, Colette would shake her head and look away from Dr. Collins completely. Lest she didn't and get sicker by his ugly appearance. Opening her eyes slowly once she has fully turned away from him, would she look at the screen with her features easing some. The sight of 049 made her feel better, which was a blessing to her nauseous stomach.

"That is it for the interview for now. We will continue it on a later date." spoke the masculine voice who was closing up the interview with 049. "It has been decided that 049 and Colette will continue to see one another. As well as share a cell to increase our knowledge on their interactions. The decision to make this permanent will be announced at a later time."

"Heh knew it!" laughed Dr. Collins who looked amused by what has happened.

Whereas Colette was happy and a little nervous by it. There was no telling what could happen between them, but what she did know for sure was that 049 and herself will be working nonstop to fix the cure. Once and for all.

Standing up now with a smile on his face, Dr. Collins would look at Colette as he spoke. "Whelp it is time for you to return to your cell! Up until they move you to your new one!"

Colette merely ignored him as she stood up, and as she walked to the door did Dr. Collins laugh. "Dr. Cade is still gone! Heh I bet she is going to try and fight the system again?"

Colette would open the door right away and stand outside in the hall for a little bit to wait for the guards, though as luck would have it that she didn't wait long. Though this luck was more or less bad luck, for Dr. Collins would be the one leading her back to her cell.

Hooray...yeah right.

Walking down the hall, Colette would reluctantly follow Dr. Collins who was whistling in amusement with his hands in his pockets of his white doctors coat. The whistling from him mixed with the both of their footsteps, really showed how awkward it was between them. Course knowing Dr. Collins, he wasn't feeling awkward in the slightest. Probably cause the guy was so full of confidence, he was basically a airhead.

Just that thought of Dr. Collins being a airhead made Colette smile. Oh yes, throwing shade at Dr. Collins was probably more enjoyable than it should be. Though it definitely was deserved.

Arriving at her cell, Dr. Collins would open the door for her and smile as she walked by him. "See you later!"

Rolling her eyes without saying anything to him, Colette would enter her cell and was very quick to close the cell door behind her. After doing that, did she frown at Dr. Collins who laughed at her as he walked away. Again acting very confident and smug as usual.

Ugh, I really hate that guy!, glared Colette mentally as she looked at her closed cell door. That annoyance grew for she could still hear him going down the hall. It took a bit of time, before she couldn't hear anymore. Once she couldn't did she sit down onto her bed and wait for something to happen.

At least she could relax for a little bit until they do come for her. And truthfully, she had so much on her mind now after what has been happening. So many things to think about, and so little time to figure it all out.

She just hoped that her questions would be answered soon. Believing that deep down and that she could save her mother as well as herself, would it calm her down for now. As she waits for the guards to come get her, would there be something happening else where.

****

Silently, the entity stood where he was after the interview with the two people on the opposite side of the interrogation room. His posture was poised as always with his head held high, and the cuffs upon his form would do little to bother him. Why should they?, for these cuffs were nothing more than a nuisance. A mere hindrance to him.

These so called people who call themselves 'doctors' and claim to want to help others, were too focused on control. They were even scared of him and what he could do, though there were more nightmarish things to be afraid of. "The Pestilence", was real and he has seen what it could do to the most innocent of people.

It was literally a form of Hell, and it was always so close. So near.

Silently would he move his eyes to the two forms across from him. That man and woman were talking to one another still in the next room. He could hear everything from them from where he stood. Though there were two questions that grabbed his complete attention.

"Why is he so focused on her?"

"What is she to him?"

Such questions would greatly interest him, even now. Colette was a person unlike any other who was here, for she was hardworking as well as she was pure. In a way, she reminded him of himself so long ago. And honestly that pulled him in. Then there was her determination and complete trust in him.

She was special. She truly was.

Yet...there was a feeling that lurked deep within him. A type of petrifying fear. Especially now after she has told him that she was ill and would soon perish. Which shocked him. No it practically shattered him.

He could sense it, when "The Pestilence" was near. He could see when someone was about to expire, for he has trained himself to see it. And yet, he couldn't see it with Colette. Nor could he sense it.

How was that possible?, and how can he not see it on Colette at all?

Furrowing his eyes now, did he feel that all too familiar pain that went over him when he had seen Colette cry before him. What is it that he was feeling? Just what is going on with him? Never in so long has he felt like this before.

After all he has spent so many long years alone and has been working very hard, and studying so diligently to perfect his cure. For that was all that mattered to him, was his cure. This cure would help so many people, he could save so many people. He wanted to help these people! And yet, these people mocked him and his work. They do not want to be saved by him, for they have made that clear. These people do not deserve it.

But there was only one who does...for Colette was the one who deserves to be saved. He would save her as well as her mother, for Colette was the only person to believe and actually support him. She made that apparent, even if she was scared of him when they had first met.

Colette was not like these people who mocked his work. She actually would look at him with hope, and it was that hope that drives her to help him perfect his cure.

He will save her.

He would.

Closing his eyes slowly did he try to relax himself now, for he was feeling it again. He felt that same anxiety like before, as it made way into his being. However he would open his eyes to the sounds of approaching footsteps. The guards were here to escort him out, and honestly he was glad. At least he could ignore that anxiety for a little bit longer.

Finally leaving the interrogation room with several guards around him, 049 was looking ahead of himself while being quiet.

His silence was overwhelming, not that the guards said anything about it. Though they were definitely on edge because of it. Why else would they keep their fingers on the triggers of their guns.

"049! Hey there!" chimed a voice that was on his right as they passed him. "Remember me? I am, Dr. Collins!"

The guards who were escorting him would come to a stop and look at Dr. Collins silently, though the entity merely kept his eyes forward. He could care less about this man who was trying to talk to him.

"Ignoring me again huh? Man what did I do to you to make you not like me?", asked Dr. Collins curiously with a hurt expression and a light smile.

049 would slowly close his eyes while remaining quiet. "..."

"Oh well maybe what I have to say may get your attention?" lightly laughed Dr. Collins. "Colette, Dr. Cade, and myself watched your interview!"

To the mention of Colette's name did 049 shift his eyes to look at Dr. Collins. Narrowing his eyes now did he see Dr. Collins grin toward him as he said, "Colette absolutely was fascinated with seeing you! She was smiling up a storm! You are one lucky guy!"

049's eyes would remain narrowed for a bit as he processed the words that came from Dr. Collins. Colette watched the interview and was happy to see him through it?

Slowly his joy and elation was becoming immeasurable after knowing that fact. Though he hid it well, or so he thought.

Dr. Collins would laugh as he tilted his head to the entity. He could see it in the eyes of 049 how happy he was. Dr. Collins knew that the both of them had a very strong bond, and many would call it more than "friendship".

Oh yes, it was more like a crush!

A very strange supernatural crush. That was what Dr. Collins believed anyway.

"I hope you don't mind that I steal Colette away to do some tests?", asked Dr. Collins out of the blue as his grin showed his teeth. "Unless you wouldn't like that?"

049's head was quick to face Dr. Collins suddenly as his eyes became a hardened glare. "Why would you assume that I wouldn't like it, Dr. Collins?", retorted the entity sharply in a cold tone of voice that was protective. Probably even more than just "protective." Perhaps even envious?, as he continued. "Colette has said before that she likes my company more than yours."

Dr. Collins features were still lighthearted in appearance as he maintained his grinning face, but the hardened eyes from the entity told him something else. He felt greatly uncomfortable, and that said a lot. Due to him feeling like he was making eye contact with a murderous lion, who loved to merely kill. 049 was definitely changing, and that change was causing him to develop a form of hostility towards those that are not Colette. Or do her wrong in any shape or form.

Course, Dr. Collins knew of that hostility. He's known about it for a while. "Oh yes I know! She thinks so much of you.", replied Dr. Collins to 049 as he did a loose shrug. "And you must think so much of her?"

049 was silent as Dr. Collins said that to him. His eyes were fixed on the doctor before him, and never once did he get rid of his glare.

There was some truth in those words from Dr. Collins, for 049 did enjoy the company of Colette. Quite strongly in fact. Yet it affected him so greatly when Colette was to cry or look troubled before him. Then there was that time when he had tried to touch her hair, a feeling that seems to be growing with each passing day.

He knows not to touch her...but it keeps resurfacing. It was such a troubling thing, but 049 would hold strong. He would, for the sake of not harming Colette.

049 would keep his glare on the doctor for a long time, only cause he remembered something. Dr. Collins was there when Colette and him were discussing about the journal. The journal that he had made her. After telling him off, Colette was abruptly forced back into her cell.

They were then kept apart for so long.

Was it cause of...?

Dr. Collins would smile in a way that could be seen as overly confident. "Well don't worry! I won't hurt Colette! Just do a few tests on...UgH!!!", before he could finish talking would two black gloved hands grasp tightly onto his throat. The strength behind the hands were so strong, one could hear the bones being squeezed out of place.

In a instant 049 was on Dr. Collins with both cuffs on his hands. His tall form completely towering over Dr. Collins as he struggles to remain alive.

It was an all of sudden attack which was outright aggressive, for 049 lashed out knocking a few guards out of his way as he made a quick dash at Dr. Collins. The other guards could not react quick enough, for 049 was already on Dr. Collins. Speaking of Dr. Collins, he was beginning to die and before he went completely limp did he see 049's eyes glow red before him.
