2.Sinning

When I opened my eyes a second time, I was sitting alone on a cold gray chair. There was this loud sound, a Tick-Tack reasoning everywhere even in my heart, and I had to push the back of my head to the wall to contemplate the enormous Clock. It was a simple one. All withe with black sign and hand, a clock just like the one we could see in every subway or train station. Nonetheless, it made me feel sick. The clock felt huge and oppressive, like an Damocles sword sitting upon my head, ready to fall and take away all life I had in my body.

It was funny, how I would just lose consciousness without much notice, I was sure to have been running through the stairs, but there I was sitting aimlessly fixating the times flooding while I felt like mine was frozen.

"You shouldn't watch this clock for too long, it won't help you find him."

I was startled, too sure I was alone to realize the presence of someone else. Maybe they were there all along, but to me it felt like the appeared suddenly. I watched them doubtfully, not sure they existed like everything that was around me, or perhaps I didn't exist as well.

Telling If they were male or female was hard, from their appearance to the tone of their voice, to much placed on the middle to even recognize anything. They were odd, looking like a snake, a black one, as their black undulated hair fell on their back, appearing to much like alive snakes as they moved slowly. Their skin was pale, one I never saw in my entire life with scales covered like cheeks, and scarlet eyes I had the urge to avoid without being able too. I was scarred, paralyzed by their only presence. Was I in front of death itself?

"Stand child. Don't be Afraid. I know you, and I can grant you. What you always desired."

I was confused, in the incapacity to think straight but finally able to move. I stood on my shaky legs, looking at him as he was showing half an apple to me. The object was shining, like a holy items slightly levitating on top of the palm of his hand.

"To meet your friend, you need to take this. and..."

"Who are you! Why..why are you telling me this."

"This is not what you want to know."

"Yes I want to know! I...I don't understand anything! This is just a dream, but...But..."

"It's up to you, to decide whether this is all a dream or not. As it's up to you to take this apple or not. You decide what is going to happen from the moment to take it."

"What tells you I'm going to take it?! I don't trust you!I've read the bible, never trust snakes.. even in my dreams."

"Snakes were signs of good omens in many civilizations, even worshiped. In the end, humans only do whatever they like."

They sighted making the half apple disappear in the process. Left me feeling completely hopeless. If it was just a dream, I shouldn't have been so afraid. It was maybe my only chance to see him, without it being in a complete nightmare, without seeing him die countless times. Or so I thought.

"Wait! It's all a dream right ? So I've no reason to be afraid. Is..Is this going to help me find him? Will I be able to talk to him?"

"Only if you want. All you have to do is take it."

The half apple appeared once more, as shiny as ever, in front of me now. Once more I my heart was beating, of stress and apprehension. I was scared, but I was full of hopes. Maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to overcome all this. And no matter what, it was nothing but a dream I had nothing to fear.

My hand slowly moved to the fruit, it felt forbidden as I touched it. Perhaps, I was sinning, just like Eve sinned taking the apple although God forbid it, stubbornly listening to the snake. It was a funny coincidence. The universe was mocking me, smiling sharply just as the snakes did as I gave in to my foolish desire.
