JANEA watched as his mother closed her eyes tightly, as if she didn't want to remember the reason for why they were in this kind of situation. He suddenly felt bad. He didn't want his mother to relieve any painful memories. It's probably better if he shouldn't have asked.

"It's okay, Mother. You don't have to answer that. I—let's just talk about some other things," he could only say, trying his best to change the subject.

Her mother showed a surprised expression. Then a sad smile crossed her lips. She gently tucked a few strands of Janea's long hair behind his ear. "My sweet child, I'm sorry for being such a bad mother. I truly failed you in every way possible."
