36 The team [Part-36]

[You know, sometimes your ability to lie out of any situation scares me.]-Matatabi

It was a casual statement however, it caught Veronica off guard. She didn't expect for this type of thing to be said straight to her face, especially by Matatabi.

[Well, she is the type of person who will lie with a straight face.]-Tobirama

'Rude much? And besides, I only told him the half-truth. It wasn't a lie.

Ok maybe, it was... like, a quarter of the truth? But I did not lie you know.'

This was a fun conversation. Her mood had brightened up while talking those two. She didn't how they knew what she needed but she was grateful that they did.

[Sure sure.]-Matatabi

Focusing back to the battle in front of her, Tanaka was trying to pry off Ohta's insects off of him. He knew that he would either have to burn or be hit with some kind of water to get them off. 'tch-ing' in annoyance he made the signs for a water jutsu and positioned it on himself.

The jutsu, although weak, could permanently damage his body if he wasn't careful.

'So, he's become a risk taker. It could be problematic and also quite favorable in some situations.'

Veronica's eyes went over to Ura to see what his reaction to this was. His smile seemed a bit psychotic at the moment. It was as though he was seeing some kind of puppet show.

[Isn't Tanaka boy the one you helped out a few years back?]-Matatabi

'Yup. He's that boy.'

Veronica glanced at him once again and shook her head in disappointment when she realized that he still hadn't recognized her. He had been quite dense when she had met him so she had hoped for him to be a bit more intelligent now.

Water flew out of Ohta's hands as he slid back a bit. Landing on his feet shakily, she noticed that most of Ohta's insects wouldn't go near him now.

Ohta tried to maintain his impassive face as he knew that he couldn't depend on his clan's technique anymore.

'He's shaken quite badly. Tanaka might just win this one.'

Ohta threw shuriken at Tanaka after distracting him with some of his insects. Soon enough, the two were lunging at each other. Kunai in hand and it slowly turned into a brawl.

'They're both idiots. They completely forgot that they'll have to fight me afterwards and didn't bother to make any preparations. Then again, I guess this is how rivalries are made.

This could be getting in the way of missions a lot. Hopefully, they aren't complete idiots.'

She noticed the sudden stream of energy in Ohta as she focused more on him. His moments went completely silent and even his heavy breathing couldn't be heard. Veronica didn't hide her shock when she saw him not even flinching at his wounds.

[That's an experienced assassin.]-Tobirama

'I'll keep that in mind.'

Ura seemed to have been forced to stop the fight as he reluctantly went over to them.

"That's enough! Since you both seem to be quite in sync together, you both will fight Veronica."-Ura

She didn't think much of it and shrugged in response. The two boys took some rest and Ura healed some of their wounds. Although they weren't in their best shape, they weren't that bad either.

'You know, maybe I should just become Hokage. Just take the place of the fifth Hokage and get Danzo and the other village elders out of the way and then hand it over to Tsunade. Things would be easier that way. Then again, I'll need someone to replace Danzo for the fight with Sasuke. Sasuke can't really be going to the war as he was when he fought with Itachi.

I wonder what I should do after the things with Obito, Madara and Kaguya are done. I doubt I'd be satisfied with being a normal ninja or even someone like Sasuke. Travelling does sounds fun though. Maybe I'll just travel around. I should probably get stronger if I want to safely travel around then'

She hadn't payed any attention to the two boys, which seemed to have made them furious as they both threw a water jutsu and a fire jutsu at her.

She easily dodged them and narrowed her eyes at the two.

'They don't realize the severity of their attacks, do they? Since they couldn't properly hit each other and probably didn't have many spars they don't know just how much damage a single jutsu can make. That attack could've easily killed me or injured me severely if I wasn't careful in dodging it.

Dammit, I feel like I need to teach them that but that would be too much trouble. Not only that, that's the sensei's job. I don't want any more people looking at me with admiration.'

She quietly sighed as the battle between the three took place.

[I still can't believe that almost all the rookie 9 come to you for advice on anything.]-Matatabi

[Well, not everyone tries out just about anything for their friends.]-Tobirama

[I guess so.]-Matatabi

[A/n: To anyone wondering, no Tanaka is not a love interest. This is a no romance story. Now, enjoy this one-shot thing I wrote because I didn't have any more ideas about this chapter.]

It was a normal day for the team, Obito was late as usual. Kakashi was mad and sassy. Rin was trying to calm down the chaos with Minato.

"Come now, we only have one E-rank mission today and then we'll get some ramen."

Minato said that with a smile as he clapped to get their attention.

"Why are we doing a stupid E-rank again?! We were getting so many C-ranks recently."-Obito

"Because no one else was available for the task right now. Besides, I'm sure you'll like this one."-Minato

He had his same calming smile on his face as the genins followed him to a remote corner of the village. They saw a small charming house there.

"This is our destination for today!"-Minato

His smile got bigger as he began telling the team about their mission. It was quite simple really. They just had to watch the house for the day. They could eat and take anything wanted as long as the place was clean and just the way the owner had left it.

"So we'll be spending our break here?"

"Yes."

They entered the place but someone pushed Rin, who was behind all of them, forward. She came crashing down all of them as they fell like dominos in the 'house'.

There was absolute darkness in the room.

"Now that everyone has arrived let us begin telling the tale of a ninja who was also far from being a ninja."

It was a sweet girl's voice. However, they couldn't help but hate her. She had kidnapped some of the village's most powerful people in the time of war.

Minato's team, Jiraiya, Kushina, Tsunade, Fugaku and even Nagato who was with Jiraiya was present there. It was an odd combination of people but with so many powerful people who were unable to get out, they all couldn't help but be wary of her.

The voice chuckled a bit and soon began to speak again.

"This is the tale of the one who crossed dimensions. The one who became the --------- -- --- --- -- -----. Remember to pay attention because you will all get to see your own futures as well."

They all frowned at that.

They didn't know just what was going on. The voice spoke of a story of someone. Yet that story will also show them their own futures?

[A/n: This has nothing to do with the original story. Just something I wrote to pass the time. I might continue it but nothing will interrupt the original story.
