THE UNEXPECTED GUESTS

"I wonder who those are?"

"Oh my! They must be sent from the heavens!"

People started talking about what Melisa said. They said numerous names of government officials, they thought, were the reason behind this. Even Tiana joined in the conversation among the adults.

"Who do you think is the good person behind all of this?" Tiana suddenly questioned. She was intrigued by the suspense they made.

"I don't know, too, Mom," Terrence answered when he saw that Tiana's eyes were on him.

Terrence glanced in front. He couldn't point out what the universities' officials were thinking.

The only thing all of them could do right now was to patiently wait.

Tiana made a face. "I just really hope that your sister will pass this." She placed both of her hands together and prayed dearly.

Terrence tilted his head to the side. He found what his mother had been doing a little bit embarrassing. He chose to remain silent. He wanted to see how everything would progress in the program.

After the principal said a few reminders, she walked around the middle of the stage and made a speech.

'What is even happening?" Terrence looked at the time on his phone for the third time already since the principal had started her speech.

'It has already been 15 minutes, and yet she's not even stopping?' he asked unbelievably.

"Mo—"

"Shhh, Terrence. I am listening."

Terrence was immediately cut off by his mom. He sighed and nodded. He opened his phone and decided to just scroll through social media to tend to his boredom.

Just when everything starts to become interesting to Terrence once again, Melisa stopped her speech.

"Oh my! Everyone! I have a piece of great news for all of you! Our esteemed guests are already here!" Melisa exclaimed, which made everyone nervous. She signalled for her secretary to come closer to her.

"Is my make-up fine?" Melisa asked her assistant as she put the mic away from her.

"Yes, Miss. You look gorgeous. I'm sure that they would love you." The secretary replied, adding more to Melisa's ego.

Melisa smiled in victory. She looked at her reflection on her phone's screen. She was in full make-up for this special moment. Her lips, which were originally pinkish, were full red today.

Her blonde hair was in an updo style, showing her long and slim neck. She made sure that her dress was long yet sultry. It emphasizes her small waist and big breasts.

She didn't want to get talked about poorly by her students because of how she dressed. However, since she was only in her mid-20s, she wanted their guests to have a good impression of her.

Who knows, and she might score someone rich to be her husband.

"Miss, they're already waiting in front of the door." The secretary reminded Melisa after she received a message from the person who had been guarding the door.

Melisa nodded. She opened the microphone and placed it closer to her mouth to announce the coming of their guests.

"Since I know that all of you are excited now, let us all welcome the people behind that made everything of this possible!"

After Melisa made that announcement, the door of the hall opened. Everyone's eyes went in that direction to see who came.

Terrence's bored eyes were replaced by a curious gaze as he looked at the door. He was intrigued by everything that was happening until an old man, followed by a young woman, showed up.

"Let us all welcome, Senator Fred Martinez, together with her daughter, Natalie Martinez!" Melisa happily announced as she flashed a sweet smile on her face. It was known to everyone that Fred was still single after divorcing his 2nd wife.

Terrence's breathing hitched.

It was as if destiny was playing games with his life.

As the two people proceeded to walk in the middle, another old man, followed by a young man, showed up. They were all in smiles as they waved their hands at everyone.

"Now, we have Dough Style followed by his only son, William Arthur Style." Melisa, once again, announced.

"Let's all give them a huge warm of applause!"

'What the actual fuck?' Terrence's jaw fell to the ground.

Shock was an underestimate of what he felt. He could feel multiple emotions hurling in his mind. He was frozen on his spot.

Terrence didn't expect that it was the reason why William was here, and to add to that, Natalie… He thought that Natalie was just someone who came from a wealthy family.

He didn't know that she was from a political family all along.

Terrence was deeply disappointed with what he discovered.

"Isn't that the girl you saved, Terrence?" Tiana's eyes sparkled when she saw a familiar face.

"Maybe you can ask her to take your sister so that her spot for the scholarship will be secured!" She added.Tiana thought that with this, Abigail wouldn't need to be nervous about how they would select the qualified students for the scholarship program.

"No, Mom," Terrence answered in a stern voice. All the emotions in his face disappeared. It was replaced by a cold gaze as he stared at the people going up on the stage.

They all looked happy and proud as they wore their expensive suits and dresses.

"But don't you know he—"

"No."

Tiana had no choice but to keep quiet after Terrence answered her. She looked disappointed but, at the same time, was surprised by how her son was acting.

"What happened to you, Terrence?" Tiana didn't know why Terrence was acting that way. 'Shouldn't he be happy that we have connections now?' she thought.

Terrence forced a smile on his face for a couple of seconds before it faded when he opened his mouth to speak. "I'll just go outside. Inform me later what will happen here.

Terrence stood up and walked away, not waiting for an answer from his mom. When he was near the side door of the hall, where they had entered earlier, he stopped when he heard loud cheers from everyone.

When Terrence looked back, he looked at the stage and noticed that the guests were introducing themselves one by one.

Terrence stared at Natalie until their eyes met. He saw how Natalie's eyes widened when she recognized who he was.

However, Terrence was not in the mood to give a damn about everything that was happening.

He left the hall and went outside, hoping to get some fresh air to clear his mind.
