A Meeting of the Senses

Alexsander Voronin was out on the prowl, his senses alive with the thrill of the hunt. He had just finished feeding and was enjoying the sensation of the blood coursing through his veins when he caught a whiff of something. It was a scent he had not encountered before, and it was tantalizingly familiar yet elusive.

As he followed the scent, his mind raced with possibilities. Could it be a new breed of werewolf? Or perhaps a hybrid creature? The thought of a challenge excited him, and he quickened his pace with a spring in his step.

Finally, he caught sight of a young man catching his breath with wounds in mutliple places. With black and silver hair that shone in the moonlight. Alexsander was immediately intrigued. It looked like he had been in a fight, not uncommon in areas like this.

He moved closer, careful not to make a sound. As he approached, he realized that the man was a werewolf, but there was something different about him. His scent was weaker than most werewolves, yet it still had an alluring quality that Alexsander found irresistible.

He was about to make his move when the young man suddenly turned around, sensing Alexsander's presence. Their eyes met, and for a moment, neither of them moved.

Finally, the young man turned away first like he didn't care and left first ignoring Alexander. Alexsander smiled slightly, his fangs glinting in the moonlight. This was going to be fun.

'Shit' Kaito murmured as he trotted along the street.

Kaito Nakamura knew he was being followed. He had sensed someone looking at him and thought it may have been the guys he beat up wanting more, his senses were on high alert. But he was surprised when it turns out to be one of his university professors...

He was probably going to get in trouble fighting in public, there was a clear policy about this sort of thing.

Hopefully it was too dark for him to see him properly.

Kaito got home where his room mate was fast asleep already so he could go straight to bed without waking her or getting yelled at.

He cleaned up in the shower and treated his wounds, by tomorrow they shouldn't be too bad he thought. Since he was young any skin trauma he has had would always heal fairly quickly so he didn't worry too much about being interrorgated by his room mate tomorrow.

When he woke up again in the morning he felt refreshed and ready for another day, though he did feel rather guilty about last night. It wasn't him who started the fights, they always came to him.

Kaito stood in front of the bathroom mirror rubbing his face.. ''It must be this face that caused it..''

His resting face looked stern by nature like he was frowning, when he looked at people they would get the wrong idea or that I would be picking a fight.

''..?...What are you doing'' A girl stood there sleepy faced scratching her hair.

Kaito paused rubbing his face and continued to get ready

''..Nothing''

''Hm..'' She cast her sceptical eyes over him before yawning loudly and walking past him towards the sink and brushed her teeth.

Kaito quickly finished up and slipped away before she found anything and heading out for his classes. His room mate, Saito, who was also his cousin, owned the house he was sharing during his time here, she was a bit domineering and Kaito couldn't help feeling a bit helpless in the face of her questioning.

On campus, he couldn't shake the feeling that he was being watched again from time to time. He looked around, but no one seemed to be paying him any particular attention. He rubbed his arm feeling like he was being targeted, like some natural instinct.

During his first lecture, Kaito struggled to concentrate and didn't take as many notes as usual. As the class ended he left the lecture hall, Kaito felt a hand on his shoulder. He spun around, ready to fight, but found himself face to face with the man from last night.

"Good morning, Mr. Nakamura," the man said with a smile. "I'm Alexsander Voronin, one of your professors."

Kaito's eyes widened in surprise. This was the man who had been following him last night?

"What do you want?" Kaito asked, trying to keep his voice steady.

"I just wanted to check up on you," Alexsander said, his smile never wavering. "I noticed you were injured last night, and I wanted to make sure you were alright."

Kaito couldn't help but feel suspicious. Why would a professor care about him? Isnt he going to give me a punishment? But something in Alexsander's gaze made him hesitate. There was something different about him, something that Kaito couldn't quite put his finger on.

"I'm fine," Kaito said, stepping back. "I can take care of myself."

Alexsander nodded. "Of course," he replied, still smiling. Then he inadvertently glanced down at Kaito's neck. "You should watch out, though; you never know if you may meet your match''

Its officially 200 days since I first started writing stories!

I started back in Oct 2022, and this is now my third completed short story, I will be releasing chapters throughout this week.

I will also be starting my third longer novel later on this year which will share the same universe with 'The whole interstellar will help raise me' I have the first few chapters written out ready but I want to progress them and my other stories first a bit more before release.. I have been a bit uninspired to write other world fantasy at the moment..Although the stories are preplanned out and everything I keep deleting and rewriting a lot as im not fully happy with the chapters..

I really enjoy these short stories though, I can hyperfocus on writing these in the space of two or three days after work unlike longer novels where the story is dragged out.
