73 Gaining the Quest Items

"Hmm?" Emile thought when he heard the ding. Someone notified him.

"I have the Silver Roots, let's trade," that's all the message said.

Emile spotted that this was much faster than he would have initially thought. He thought he would have to wait a day or two before any results appear.

Emile would get better rewards depending on the time he took to complete the quest.

"Yeah, let's trade," Emile sent him a trade notification.

Emile checked his coin count and noticed he only had 90 silver coins. He used ten coins to travel to the city.

"Hey, uh, Lily, can I have ten silver coins," Emile said. He didn't want to ask her, but the situation required coins.

"Sure," She responded.

They had talked to a few locals. There were some minor quests like buying bread for an old lady or finding the child's ball. One local wanted someone to grow their bean which they considered to be magical.

They had accepted all of these quests.

Lily organized a trade with Emile. She gave him ten silver coins.

Emiel messaged the man with a trade request. The man responded by accepting.

The man put up the bucket with the Silver Roots. Emiel thought that this was a unique way of carrying a plant. Emile identified the plant and saw that it was the silver roots.

Emile put up 100 silver coins. The man accepted the trade.

Emile also accepted. This trade went smoothly as both parties won. One party won more than the other.

Emile didn't want to interact with that person since he scammed them. Players had no way to check any markets other than the village market, so rare items like the Silver Roots wouldn't appear on the market.

They didn't know the price and assumed they were getting a good deal by selling the Silver Roots for 100 silver coins.

They were mistaken and won't figure this out for a few more days.

Emile removed all interactions with the person. He wanted to finish the quest with haste, so he was forced to abandon Lily.

"Thank you! I got a quest that requires the usage of a lot of coins," Emile thanked her. He didn't know how to show his gratitude.

"Didn't I tell you we shouldn't have any formalities between us," Lily said.

Emile scratched his head.

"Don't forget," Lily said.

"I won't forget," Emile said. He will most likely forget.

"I'm going to complete the quest. You can go look for more quests and tell me about anything interesting," Emile said.

"All right. Bye," Emile walked away.

Emile recalled that he needed 20 silver coins to travel to the city and back.

"Uh... I need 20 silver coins," Emile scratched his head as he asked Lily.

She rolled her eyes before trading with Emile. She gave him 20 silver coins.

"I'm almost out of silver coins," Lily said.

"Heh. Well, we're both poor now," Emile said.

"Not something to laugh at," Lily walked away to look for quests.

Emile looked at her back figure; he sighed before walking to the teleporter.

Emile teleported to Sunrise City. He ran to the pond and asked the old man to enter the Alchemist Headquarters.

"It's only been a few hours, why do you want to enter the headquarters again," The old man said. He was relaxing in his cozy home when he heard knocks on the door. He opened the door to see Emile.

"I got the item that I needed," Emile said.

The old man sighed.

"Follow me," the old man said.

He led Emile to the same location and redid his actions that he had done the first time.

They entered the hole after the walls opened.

Emile walked up to the lady who never told a lie a before.

"I got the Silver Roots. Can you create the clear potion," Emile asked.

"Please show me the Silver Roots," she asked.

Emile took out his Silver Roots which was still in a bucket. It was an odd sight for the lady.

"You're weird," she said. She didn't hide anything.

"Someone else found it and put it in a bucket," Emile said. He scratched his head when he heard her.

"The people you know are weird," she said.

"No, I don't know the person. I gave the adventurers a quest, and this was the outcome of it," Emile said.

"Oh. The person picked up the plant correctly; we can use this for the clear potion," she said. She examined the plant before giving a deduction.

"I'll take the ingredient from you, and I'll remove three gold coins from the total," she said.

"Thank you," Emile said. If she removed three gold coins, then he can keep the coins for himself.

"No problem," she said.

"To purchase a clear potion you must pay 97 gold coins," she said,

"All right," Emile took the pouch out of his inventory. He didn't want to waste this money.

Emile handed her the pouch.

"There are 100 gold coins in there," Emile said.

She opened the pouch and shook it a few times. She stared into the pouch as she shook it.

"Yep, there are 100 coins in here," she said this while taking out three gold coins.

"Here's your change," she handed him three gold coins as promised.

"Thank you for your help," Emile said.

"No problem. Your clear potion will be ready in an hour or two," she said.

"You can wait here or leave, I don't care," she spoke.

"I'll wait here," Emile said before turning away. He could see here honesty. She said whatever came to her mind which is mostly a good thing.

Emile used this opportunity to rest. He sat down on one seat and rested.

An hour and a half passed. It was approaching the night.

Emile had been interacting with the people of the Alchemist Guild. He had made a few friends and joined in on their discussions.

Emile received a gem which allowed him to travel to the Alchemist HQ without having to talk to the old man. He could crush the gem to open the door.

It was an interesting mechanism. Emile kept the gem in his inventory.

The people here were happy to be friends with Emile. They also talked about casual things instead of Alchemy. This lounge area was for a casual slice of life. The serious discourse happened in the side chambers.

Emile realized that their views were unique. he also learned the requirements to be an Alchemist. Having control over a fire was one important ability.

Knowledge is a vital part of Alchemy. If you didn't know how herbs blended together, then you could never create a potion or mixture.

You also needed to know which temperatures the herbs melted, without the important essences evaporating. There were many techniques involved with Alchemy.

These people all had control of fire. Some better than others.

Someone called Emile. It was the lady who took his 97 gold coins.

"A rank 3 senior crafted your clear potion. Here you go," she said.

She packaged the clear potion in a seal. This seal was protective enough to drop it without the contents breaking or spilling over.

Emile wouldn't test this out. He placed the potion in his inventory. He did this with care since he didn't want to break it.
