7 Guardian of the Northen forest

Back in the forest, countless wild beasts and monsters could be seen gathering together.

Even though they were enemies under usual circumstances, the humans had forced them to gather together and formulate a plan. It was survival or extinction, the decision to be made was obvious.

There was however one problem, they couldn't decide on someone suitable to be the leader.

One of the hobgoblins present stood out and said confidently, "I believe that I am qualified to be the leader. Any objections here?"

One of the imps however smirked, "Come on, all of us here know that neither of us are qualified to lead. Unless there's a 2nd danger tier monster with a noble bloodline present."

As the argument between the monsters continued, Vildred arrived at the central lake to meet that mysterious person.

"You're finally here young lad." The voice belonged to a woman, her voice was mature and even though Vildred could only see her back view, it was obvious that she was a beauty.

"What do you want with me?" Vildred asked, maintaining a safe distance between himself and the woman who was sitting on a log, her legs immersed into the sparkling lake.

"Take a seat opposite of me." The woman continued her script as she crossed her legs.

Vildred was puzzled by her intentions, but still abided by her wishes. He walked past her without turning back, Dylas already in his hand.

This woman is dangerous. Vildred instincts were roaring at him to be careful, but he still allowed his back to be exposed to her in a casual manner.

"Young lad, you trust me that much?" Against her alluring voice, Vildred ignored the temptation to turn around to take a seat on the log opposite to the woman.

Her face was blocked by a veil and her emerald eyes whilst beautiful, concealed her intentions well. Just like him, she was relaxed despite this being a conversation between two strangers.

"You were much younger than expected, it's the first time I've seen such a young dungeon master. Maybe you might step into the realm of a dungeon lord soon." The woman initiated the conversation with a smile behind the veil.

"The same goes to you as well. You seem to be slightly older than me at best and yet your low ranking cult member was already capable of killing me. Or should I say, a mere messenger?"

"I have never given the messengers the authority to kill anyone. Whilst it was my mistake for being unable to control those under me, don't expect me to feel guilty or apologise to you." The woman rebutted calmly, not giving Vildred a chance to express his thoughts.

"You should cut straight to the chase, I'm not interested in wasting time here." Upon figuring that beating around the bush was pointless, Vildred changed the topic to the purpose of this meeting immediately.

"It's simple, since you're a dungeon master, I'm sure that you might be interested to know a piece of news."

Instead of being surprised, Vildred turned his attention to the piece of news and understood what she wanted. This cunning woman. He laughed within his heart and asked, "What do you want from me?"

"I just hope to establish a coalition army against the humans." The woman said whilst taking her veil down, revealing her face.

It was also at this point of time that Vildred paid attention to her appearance.

She was a bringer of trouble wherever she went. She had overlapping wavy green hair that flowed to her shoulders, a sculpted nose and cherry red lips that would entice any man. Her dreamy eyes were attractive and even though she had a slender build, she had porcelain skin and assets every woman would dream of having.

Seeing Vildred in a trance over her beauty, she returned it with a smile and walked towards him across the lake. With each step of hers, it would cause ripples on the lake surface.

"Have you seen enough?"

Hearing the woman asking this question, Vildred realised that his indecent gaze must have infuriated her.

"I'm sorry about that, at least I understand the reason behind you concealing your appearance now." Vildred explained, his hand scratching the back of his head awkwardly.

"It's fine, I've seen too many perverts that lust after my body."

Even though the woman had put it this way, her pouting cheeks still betrayed her.

"Still, what benefits do I stand to gain from joining the coalition army?" Vildred changed the topic, knowing that it was futile for him to argue against a woman. Charlotte taught him that the hard way.

Back during those days when he first became Charlotte's mentor, he would always reprimand her for making foolish mistakes.

But after a few days, he stopped doing that. It wasn't because it was ineffective, but because Charlotte could bring out an entire list of reasons for one sentence of his.

"Don't teach me then!"

"I don't care!"

"You didn't tell me that!"

"It's still your fault as my mentor!"

Even though he was lost in his thoughts, Vildred still managed to recollect them quickly upon hearing the woman's voice.

"Are you truly a dungeon master?" That was her question.

"I don't think you have a reason to doubt me on that." Vildred replied calmly, curious as to why she would pose such a question.

"Have you heard of my name Clarissa?"

Vildred shook his head.

"Have you heard about the deathbringer of hurricanes?"

Vildred shook his head again.

"No wonder you asked me what you stand to gain by joining my coalition army." Clarissa said, before adding on, "I'm the only dungeon king in this area. As for the details, everything is explained in this manual."

Clarissa said as he passed a manual over to him casually with one hand, only to pull it back before Vildred took it over.

"Let me say this first, after you read this manual, you're obligated to join my coalition army. If you refuse to, you won't be under our protection this time round."

After Vildred was done reading the manual, he knew that the coalition army was a must for his dungeon's current progress. Based on what Clarissa had recorded, suitable rewards will be given out according to the merit of the dungeon masters and lords this time.

"Very well, count me in on this." Vildred said as he closed the manual and returned it to her.

"You do know that the war begins today right?" Clarissa asked, only to be shocked when Vildred was looking at her with a dumbfounded expression.

"Didn't you know?"

"I wasn't informed. Please give me some time to recall my monsters."

"There isn't a need to. Amethyst will guide them to you.

"Listen well young fella, you are the dungeon master entrusted with defending the northern forest, don't let me down."

Clarissa told Vildred before vanishing from his sight, as though she had never appeared to begin with.

On the Zyroth continent, to the extreme south was a majestic castle. The castle was built of a rare material known as Diatel, a reinforced form of diamond coated with amethyst for the purple shade.

The ominous clouds were threatening to rain, lightning bolts ready to strike. The trees were barren and there was no existence of nature nearby. Dangerous monsters roamed the area, powerful guards protected the castle.

There were vampire viscounts, alluring succubuses, bane liches. On the castle top, powerful charged crossbows could be seen. Not only that, every single person alive was at least of the 2nd tier regardless of their identity.

In the castle, on the throne, sat the queen. She was alone by herself, her eyes closed as the ornamented violet dress reflected her beauty.

"That's one interesting young fellow." The queen said as she opened her eyes.

"Amethyst, after you have sent his monsters back to him, return to me straight away." The queen was Clarissa. As for her title, only those who have been in the war ten years ago would know.

Of course, today marks another special day. It was the hundredth year ever since the dungeons descended upon this world and yet the humans refuse to change.

"Fire, Moonlight, Veil." Seeing his monsters appear before him one after another, Vildred called out to them.

"Thank you Amethyst."

Amethyst was a gigantic condor with beautiful feathers that overlapped one another. Just like her master, she would definitely be a beauty if she manages to take on the human form one day by stepping into the 4th danger tier, also known as the evolution stage.

As Amethyst took off, Vildred turned towards his three monsters and got them to follow him. He had a plan in mind.

Strolling towards the Northern forest, he realised that there were no signs of life nearby. That could only mean one thing.

Stopping in his tracks as he remained silent, he heard some faint noises coming from the east. Without any hesitation, he changed his course of direction and soon realised that the sound was coming from a group of monsters debating on the leader.

"You guys can stop the argument now, the deathbringer of hurricanes have given me the authority to be in full defense of the Northern forest."

Even so, Vildred didn't have a strategy towards the upcoming war yet considering that the Northern forest was the weakest among the four directions surrounding the ancient ruins.

The ancient ruins would open its entrance every year and only dungeon masters or lords could enter it, it was the opportunity for those below the dungeon king realm to improve themselves and their dungeon.

Vildred had to keep his promise towards Charlotte and the first step, was to protect the ancient ruins that would open three months later.

"What proof do you have?" The hot-tempered imp started.

Even though Vildred couldn't understand their words, he had Moonlight to help him with it.

"If you guys want to win against the humans this time and defend your home, then follow me and my master."

Initially, none of the monsters paid Moonlight any attention, not until the shaman, one of the monsters leaked out a mind-blowing piece of information.

"This wolf is a Moonlight wolf!"

"What did you just say?"

"Why would someone of the Moonlight wolf species be here?"

Seeing their shocked expression, Vildred turned his attention to Moonlight and asked, "What happened, why are they so shocked over your identity."

"Master, even I do not know the answer towards that."

The shaman then approached Moonlight and said, "Your bloodline is pure, I hereby represent every single monster here to follow you. The eight of us and the hundreds beneath us are now under your command."
