5 Conflict and meeting

"Have you made up your mind to serve me?" He asked, amused by the wolf's request.

The wolf was enraged by Vildred's question, was a human questioning his words?

But still, the wolf didn't make a move. The human was right, it had nothing to its name right now. Its glorious past would only last as long as the sand in an hourglass.

"Human, can I trust your words?"

Swoosh!

The black longsword stopped before the wolf's neck. "Is this good enough of an answer?"

The voice was cold, the question simple but complicated. The human wanted an answer.

"I hereby swear my eternal loyalty to you, if I ever turn against you one day, may the moon abandon me." The vow was simple, but merciless to the wolf.

To the wolves, a night of the full moon would be their day. The moment to howl to their heart's content, to do as they wish, to live as they want. It was their night with their faith.

"Very well, you may rise." Vildred commanded with a smile.

The wolf stood back up weakly, bloodlust in its eyes. Its wound was fatal, but it would recover naturally in a week's time.

"Restrain yourself, don't let revenge blind your lucid eyes." Vildred said, his eyelids shut for a brief moment. whilst turning his back towards the wolf. "Follow me."

Having been an orphan from young, he had learnt to fend for himself. Having to bear the pain of losing a loved one after he matured, he had learnt how to accept things. Having someone he loves leave after losing his family, he had learnt the need for strength. He had become mature beyond his age, he wanted to protect those around him.

"Awooo!"

Klauw and Drasnek had just left the restaurant, Klauw still holding onto a cheeseburger between his teeth. His hands were occupied with other foods and drinks whilst Drasnek was strolling beside him, playing around with the blades in his hand.

Klauw was so caught up in the food that he did not notice the fist flying straight for his jaw. The cold hard fist caused Klauw to drop all the food, Drasnek retaliated with a swift kick that was easily blocked whilst Klauw was salvaging whatever food was still edible without paying any attention to the assailant.

Klauw recovered from the ground with the salvaged food in his left hand and a solemn face. His stare clawing its way into the attacker's skull as if a pack of hungry wolves just came upon a fat sheep. A smile grew on Klauw's face as he knew this person.

Right when Drasnek's fist was only one inch away from the man's face, Klauw stopped him.

The man had combed his hair neatly towards the side, he was tall and clad in heavy armor and most importantly, there was the crest of a sun imprinted on his armor. He was one of the prestigious young warriors among the adventurers, recognised by the town master himself.

"I know this man." Klauw extended his hand out for a hand shake. "Hello Wren."

Pulling Wren in for what he thought was a hug but ended up being an elbow to the face.

"That's for the food...we should skin him alive Hide...not today, we have important things to do."

"All adventurers are required to gather at the adventurers guild!"

"I repeat! All adventurers are required to gather at the adventurers guild with immediate effect!"

"Klauw, I wonder if anyone would notice your death in the forest." Wren said with a smile before making his way towards the adventurers guild. His followers followed closely behind him, their eyes staring at Klauw and Drasnek with malicious intent.

"Drasnek, let's make our way to the adventurers guild."

After Vildred returned to the dungeon, he returned to the core area easily after a few twists and turns.

It couldn't be any simpler for him and his servants with the dungeon layout in their mind.

From the core area, a gigantic array made of magical lines could be seen. A star was the base, the default layout for either a summoning array or a servant scanner.

This was the reason why dungeon lords could decide on the best few among hundreds within a species, they just had to gauge their peak potential.

It might seem tempting to bring in an elite upon seeing one, but overconfidence often leads to death. Especially when the servant turns against the dungeon owner one day due to the wide discrepancy in strength, resulting in the pact being deemed useless.

"Master, am I supposed to enter that magical array?" The wolf asked with respect, its head lowering slightly was enough proof.

"Yes." Vildred answered briefly whilst walking to the floating tablet, it was where the data of his servants would be recorded.

Moonlight wolf, 2nd danger tier:

Attack: B / A+

Defense: B- / A-

Speed: B/ A+

Traits: Enhanced combat sense, Lonewolf, moon ??? (unawakened)

Potential: High / Genius (External factors might play an important role)

Breakthrough point:

"From today onwards, I'll call you Moonlight. For now, just rest in the dungeon and after you recover, head towards the western side of the dungeon. You belong to the hills. For now at least." Vildred explained everything in one breath, brief cunningness flashing in his eyes.

"Master, is it possible for me to head south? If I don't hone myself in the mountains, there's no way I can take revenge one day." The Moonlight wolf asked anxiously, its face wincing in pain from the wound.

"Don't worry, give yourself some time. You are bound to overtake him one day." Vildred said before returning to his chambers for cultivation.

Just like this, another three days passed in the blink of an eye. Marking the seventh day Charlotte left him. Everything happening around him seems hilarious at this point. Just yesterday, he heard of an interesting piece of news from Veil.

Even though Veil wasn't capable of human speech like Moonlight, Charlotte had taught her how to write.

Based on the information Veil gathered, it seems like the guilds are planning to clear up this area of wild monsters and dungeons.

Even though trouble was brewing, he had the confidence to handle them as long as none of the experienced adventurers found this dungeon.

In these three days, his cultivation growth might not have been that quick, but he still managed to cultivate his 25th dark energy particle.

Reaching the peak of the second phase among dungeon masters.

Besides the time spent on cultivation, Vildred would look for a battle in the forest every single day. Combat experience might save his life one day.

(Note: Conversion rate between crystal points for adventurers and dark energy for dungeon owners is 1:1)

[1st tier spike trap, activated, near the entrance, strength: 3rd phase and below]

[1st tier rolling boulder, unactivated (25/100), strength: 5th phase and below]

Vildred was thinking about the functions of the rolling boulder when Veil suddenly flew up to him.

A scroll was clasped by her legs.

Reaching his hands out, Vildred took the scroll over and opened it up.

The message was simple with only one line.

[Meet me outside of your dungeon now.]

Despite being doubtful about the intentions of the person who requested to meet him, Vildred remained calm and got Moonlight to follow him.

Along the way out of the dungeon, Vildred asked Moonlight, "Are you feeling better now?"

"Yes, just one more day or two before I enter the forest."

Before long, they arrived at the dungeon entrance. Awaiting him was a man wearing the robe of a magician, his clothing was a deep shade of purple with a crescent imprinted in the middle.

"Who are you?" Vildred asked as Dylas appeared in his hand. Even so, he was prepared to back off into the dungeon, the man was giving off a dangerous vibe.

"I'm from the dusk moon cult. Upon orders from my cult master, I'm here to invite you to join us for the greater cause."

"Greater cause? You mean the killing of innocent people to cleanse the world?"

"That's right, join us and we can…"

""Don't give me that bullshit!"

Charging up his dark energy essence into Dylas, he made use of the slight trace of lighting contained within it and slashed towards the dusk moon cult member.

"Fool!"
