--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New York City, year XXXX.

Everything was in chaos.

Or at least that's what the number 2 hero of the United States, Captain Mirage, could think.

The captain was exactly 1.76 cm tall, jet-black hair, blue colored eyes, not that anyone could see them unless they were up close, and he looked quite stocky.

His hero suit was state of the art technology, made by David Shield himself before he was arrested, he wore a mask made of lightweight, durable material that incorporates augmented reality technology. This mask displays tactical information, threat analysis and data about the heroes whose powers he has imitated, directly in Captain Mirage's field of vision, also depending on the power he uses, it highlights his eyes, for example, if he uses laser vision or X-rays. His mask is black with blue and silver details.

He wears a cape, made of holographic material that projected images of comic book heroes from the era before the Quirks and some of his fellow heroes, the images changed randomly, but he could manipulate it if he needed to with his gloves.

He wears a late-model suit, a suit made of a smart fabric that adapts to his needs, considering his Quirk, as well as serving to monitor his health and how fatigued he was. The predominant color of his suit is black. Blue and silver accents are found in strategic areas of the suit, such as the seams and edges. Blue LED lights are integrated at certain points to give it a technological touch.

It has gloves equipped with haptic technology that allows Captain Mirage to virtually sense and manipulate objects through holographic interfaces. The gloves also store data on mimicked powers for quick reference. They are black in color

He has jet boots in case he needs them, as well as being aerodynamic. They are red in color.

On his chest he has a symbol of a letter M, representing his hero name.

Max Grayson.

Alias: Captain Mirage.

Quirk: Comic Copy.

Captain Mirage's "Comic Copy" Quirk grants him the unique ability to temporarily imitate the powers of heroes from comic books and graphic novels, as long as he has the detailed description of the hero's powers from the comics, he can copy them temporarily.

He was currently flying over what was once New York City, which was in ruins, as he watched the scene in cold horror.

According to the reports he received, while he was stopping a minor crime in Riverside Falls, there was a huge rumbling in an alleyway and suddenly several wooden dragons swept down on whatever was in their path.

At first there was no need to panic, they quickly located 4 villains who were attacking everyone, plus one with an appearance of a 10-year-old boy standing in the middle of all the chaos, as well as having some sort of drums attached to his back, which could be heard beating from time to time.

Immediately, the heroes were mobilized, with several sidekicks or heroes specialized in rescue, rescuing people, while some heroes went to stop the villains.

Even when he heard the news the first time, he had not been worried, as America's number 6 heroine, Luminary Lantern and her best friend, was also there.

Luminary Lantern's Quirk reminded him of the green lanterns' powers, so he suggested the name and she agreed.

Anyway, he wasn't worried, even if Luminary specialized more in rescue than in fighting, her strategic level as well as her battle skills were still to be considered.

But then, news started to reach him from his agency that things were not going well, the heroes that were facing the 5 villains were being killed and the one who was killing the most was the one with the appearance of a child, who had protective dragons that could launch multiple powers when the drum was heard.

Also, some rescue heroes were dying as collateral damage, which slowed down the rescue speed, seeing that the heroine Luminary Lantern withdrew from the battle to focus on the rescue.

Faced with that, he decided to rush in, copying Superman's powers to get there as fast as he could and get a good view of the disaster.

It was worse than he imagined.

There were more wooden dragons than had been reported, laying waste to entire buildings.

He could see that several heroes were charging the dragons as best they could, but whenever they dispatched one, two more would appear.

He could also glimpse with x-rays that there were still people trapped and Luminary Lantern having trouble protecting everyone.

He turned off his x-ray vision and glimpsed the 4 villains spread out.

Fortunately, he wasn't the only one of the top 10 who had come to help.

Hero number 10, Electro Surge and heroine number 7 Thunderbolt Valkyrie found themselves facing one who carried a staff and could summon and control thunder and lightning.

Max had no doubt that the two of them together could stop this villain.

Hero number 4, Jetstream Aviator, was facing one who had some sort of bird-like mutation, considering his wings and talons that reminded him of an eagle, though he could also launch sonic attacks from his mouth.

Hero number 5, Skyward Zephyr, was facing one who carried two fans in his hands and had spectacular control over the wind.

And he could see his wife, hero number 3, Mystic Aegis, taking on one who used a spear and it looked like his Quirk was derived from said spear.

Normally he would feel pity for the guy, as he seemed to have a simple Quirk, but he was more dangerous from what he could see, if the small cuts his wife had were anything to go by.

He wanted to help her, but he had to prioritize defeating the main villain.

He could see hero number 8, Liberty Warden, leading a group to aid the rescue while he saw heroine number 9, Glacial Sentinel, freezing and taking down some wooden dragons in the south.

He had David Shield to thank for the design of his suit when he got out of prison, his vision was good, but thanks to the mask he could see it better.

He brought a hand to his face to squeeze between his eyes in frustration.

"Of all the days Star and Stripes had to decide to leave to help her mentor, it had to be today," he expressed in annoyance as he brought a hand to his ear where he had a communicator and opened a direct channel to his fellow heroes. "Report, what the hell is going on?"

"I'm sorry, I can't talk right now, I need to concentrate," Luminary Lantern replied before cutting off communication again. "(Well... that's fair enough)," Max thought.

"These guy are tough. We've been fighting him for 5 minutes and he gives no indication of being tired, even though he's been throwing attack after attack for over 30 minutes," Electro Surge shared as lightning could be heard in the background.

"Instead, we're the ones getting worn down. This guy is immune to electricity and also has crazy regeneration, we've given him some serious wounds and even cut off his finger by accident, but it regenerated in a matter of seconds," added Thunderbolt Valkyrie.

At that, Hero #2's frown became more prominent. "(That's a problem.)," he thought. After all, normally no one could be firing consecutive attacks for a long time without tiring.

Plus, there was the regenerative factor, which didn't make sense, since according to reports he had mutant appearances, but they also had other Quirks, first this guy was throwing electricity and now rapid regeneration.

The word All for One crossed his mind before he dismissed it.

While that villain had been a serious problem not only in Japan but also in the United States, well rather around the world, he knew that the villain was currently confined to Japan and did not seem to have plans to return to make his reign of terror in other countries.

For now, that is.

"I've noticed something, and I want you guys to tell me if you see it too," Mystic Aegis suddenly mentioned. "Have you noticed that these guys' tongues are black?" asked heroine number 3 with some trepidation.

"Now that you mention it, I do see it," replied hero number 10.

"So do I," confirmed heroine number 7.

"Let me see... yes, he has a black tongue too," heroine number 4 added.

"Son of a bitch! Yeah, this motherfucker's got it too," exclaimed hero number 5.

"That means only one thing-", Mystic Aegis began to say, only to be heard metal clashing against metal and a rumble.

"-Trigger," concluded the sentence hero number 2 somberly.

Trigger was a drug that originated in Japan, this drug increases the powers that one's Quirk has at the cost of losing one's senses.

What few people knew is that the drug was developed mainly in the United States, so, although it became famous in Japan, its true origin is from the United States.

Few people use it in the United States, so it's not commonly known but it's still a danger, mainly to subway heroes.

He shook his head, he needed to focus hero number 2, after all, the situation keeps getting worse.

"I also noticed something," Luminary Lantern suddenly said, it seems he reconnected to the communication, "while I was leading the attack forces, the 4 villains that are facing each other have certain similarities, including the boy who is found summoning the wooden dragons."

As the situation became even more intriguing and dangerous, hero number 2 absorbed the new information with a mixture of disbelief and concern. "(Wait, really?)," he thought in stunned at Luminary Lantern's revelation. Because, if what the heroine said was true, then they weren't facing multiple enemies, if not a single individual with a multiplying Quirk.

"(But what kind of Quirk is this? Multiplication, advanced regeneration, each clone with a different Quirk, this is not normal)", thought hero number 2 again with annoyance. Despite having faced many troublesome villains in his career, this case defied all logic.

Max spoke directly over the comms, trying to come up with a strategy. "That means we have to take care of the main body, but which one is it?" he said, though he had a certain suspicion of who it might be, which Luminary Lantern confirmed when he mentioned that the boy hadn't moved from his spot since this fight began.

He simply stood at the epicenter, summoning his wooden dragons, not moving a muscle.

Hero number 2, Captain Mirage, clenched his fists with determination. Although the situation was complicated, his strategic mind began to map out a plan to address this unique threat.

"Listen up, everyone. I'm going to use my Quirk to find the main body among those clones. If the kid with the dragons hasn't moved since the beginning, it's probably him and I have just the Quirk needed to be able to tell," Max Grayson stated over the comm.

As he flew towards the epicenter of the battle, he activated his Quirk.

One of the disadvantages his Quirk has is that he needs to adapt the powers from the comics to work as a single Quirk.

An example of that is the powers he is currently using, Superman's powers, his Quirk normally wouldn't let him use all the powers Superman has, he could only use flight, or laser beam vision, or his icy breath, or his super strength, never all at once.

But at the "Justice Academy" school, America's #1 hero school, he learned to simplify those powers into one so he could use all those powers as if he were one Quirk.

So, he concentrated and activating the holographic screen of his cape, he quickly switched to the hero Quicksense, whose power allowed him to have advanced perception, such as being able to see people's body heat, their movement, their technique, etc.

He quickly touched the holographic screen, acquiring the power of that hero. Once he acquired that power, his eyes lit up with a bright blue light as he surveyed the scene from above.

He quickly descended towards the battlefield, as he could not use two powers at the same time, Superman's power was going to wear out soon, so he had to hurry.

Using the enhanced vision provided by his mask, he scanned the clones. As his eyes moved between the four villains, he noticed with some frustration that they all shared the same heat signature and also energy signature, although he could notice something interesting, there was some sort of line that anchored them to the original, following his eyes to where it originated, he realized it came from the child. He quickly deactivated the power and copied Superman's power again and shared the information with his fellow heroes.

"I found the real one! It's the kid at the epicenter," Max reported over the comm as he headed straight towards the main body, "I'm going to take him on!" he said with determination and some heaviness, as even though he's causing such a mess, he's still a 10-year-old kid, so he's not going to make something easy for himself.

"Will you need backup? I can send Skycrawler and Captain Celebrity," Liberty Warden offered.

"No, you guys focus on the rescue; I'll take care of this," Max quickly denied. Not that he had anything against those two, just with Captain Celebrity. Besides, he was aware that the fight wasn't going to be easy, and those two were better at rescue operations.

"Max," began Luminary Warden, capturing the full attention of hero number 2. It was unusual for her friend to call him by name in the middle of a mission. "Don't hold back," she urged before shutting down communications.

Max closed his eyes for a moment and then opened them with determination, launching himself at full speed toward the boy. In his path, wooden dragons tried to stop him, but with a single blow he smashed them apart, advancing without pause toward his target.

He dodged lightning, wind, fire, energy spears and sonic attacks coming from the dragons. He noticed with disgust that the boy was no longer alone but standing on a pile of bodies of fallen heroes.

As he moved forward, he could see that the boy noticed him and now had the boy's attention as he tapped his lower right drum with some sort of double-bladed dagger, summoning more dragons to attack him.

As he made his way through, he couldn't help but analyze the boy's appearance more clearly, he had intense orange skin, with horns on his head, he had short black hair and looked quite muscular, their eyes have a red sclera and their pupils are rusty-gold colored and in them he had a kanji that Max couldn't recognize, as he didn't know Japanese.

"(At times like this, I could use a translator)" thought with some amusement the number 2 hero, since he could not understand Japanese at all, no matter how much he studied it.

He continued analyzing the boy and noticed his outfit: he had a golden armor that only covered his chest and under this armor he had a long sleeve shirt that only left his abdomen exposed, he had black baggy pants and a belt with patterns of flowers and waves, he could also notice that the drums were 8, each one had kanji written on them and they were connected to each other and for some reason they floated behind him.

He stopped studying the boy and found himself facing three dragons, intending to launch an attack on him. He used his heat vision to shoot them down before accelerating towards the boy with a sonic boom, preparing a strike.

As he got closer, he noticed the boy's black tongue and scowl, he noticed the boy wasn't moving and couldn't help but think he was just a kid.

He exchanged his fist for a grip, intending to subdue the boy but two drums sounded without the boy touching them, and the boy instantly disappeared.

Impressed, the number 2 hero recognized that it was not teleportation, but pure speed, although he also could not help that he, unconsciously, lowered his own speed to avoid harming the boy.

He looked to his right and saw the boy descending from the air with six dragons aimed at him, hitting him with an electric attack sending him straight to the ground. He destroyed the dragons with his heat vision, but the boy summoned more, surrounding him with a total of twelve dragons, each targeting him with an attack.

He understood why Luminary Warden had told him not to hold back and decided to follow that advice. With determination, he flew at the boy with a sonic boom and delivered a powerful blow with all his might, which destroyed his head and neck, sending him backwards.

After the shocking blow, the boy's body collapsed to the ground, surrounded by the scattered fragments of the drums that once floated behind him. Silence temporarily filled the place and hero number 2 could not help but feel that he had committed murder, for he was still a child.

With some horror, he began to approach the child, though he couldn't help but notice that the dragons didn't disappear, they simply remained motionless and no news reached him from his fellow heroes.

Then he noticed that smoke was coming out of the boy's neck and that the kanji on the drums were glowing and in an instant 5 drums were beating.

Max took cover but was sent backwards in a roar.

As he stood up, he couldn't help but notice with amazement what was in front of him.

Around the fallen boy, a hurricane of wind enveloped him, acting as a protective shield that prevented anyone from approaching. Lightning crackled all around him, as he noticed the presence of fireballs floating in the air. Max noticed the formidable barrier that stood before him, making him realize that overcoming it would be no easy task.

With attention focused on the boy, Max was amazed to observe him standing upright, with his drums once again floating behind him and smoke emanating from his neck. Although he noticed that the regeneration of his neck was somewhat slow, he was on the move.

Hero #2's strategic mind scrambled to find a solution to break through when a shout alerted him. "Max!/Captain Mirage!" echoed several voices behind him, and as he turned, he saw several of his fellow heroes approaching, most notably the presence of his wife, Mystic Aegis, also known as Morgan Anderson.

Electro Surge, Skyward Zephyr, Glacial Sentinel and his wife Mystic Aegis arrived to offer their assistance. Max couldn't help but hug his wife tightly and asked, as they parted, "What are you guys doing here - weren't you busy with the other clones?"

Electro Surge stepped forward to calmly explain the situation. "While Thunderbolt Valkyrie and I were confronting the raging staff carrier, the staff carrier suddenly began to disintegrate," reported hero number 10. "We decided to split up: Thunderbolt Valkyrie would handle the rescues, and I came to assess the situation."

"Same on my side. I met Jetstream Aviator, who offered to help with the rescues and asked to be informed of any mishaps we had," added hero number 5.

"In my case, I noticed that the dragons stopped and they stopped appearing, so I came to see what the situation was" explained heroine number 9 serenely.

Max nodded, grateful for the help of his fellow heroes. The situation was more under control now, but the wind and energy barrier around the fallen boy was still a formidable obstacle.

Mystic Aegis approached her husband, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. "Max, do you have a plan to deal with this? It seems it's not as simple as defeating the boy outright."

Max frowned, quickly thinking of a strategy. "We need to weaken that barrier somehow. Electro Surge, can you analyze it and find a vulnerable spot?"

Hero number 10 nodded and began examining the barrier with his electrical abilities. After a few moments, he pointed to a specific area. "There is a fluctuation in energy at this point. It could be a weak point, but we would need a great deal of power to break it."

Skyward Zephyr raised his hand. "I can help with that. My control over the wind is quite strong. I could concentrate a blast of wind directly on that point."

Max smiled gratefully. "Perfect, do that. Mystic Aegis, you and Glacial Sentinel, be ready to act as soon as we can weaken the barrier."

The heroes quickly coordinated. Skyward Zephyr concentrated a powerful blast of wind at the vulnerable spot pointed out by Electro Surge, while Electro Surge channeled his electricity to increase the power of the wind.

The boy's barrier began to wobble and give way under the combined intensity of the elements. Mystic Aegis and Glacial Sentinel prepared for the next step. At just the right moment, when the barrier showed signs of weakness, both heroines launched a coordinated attack.

Mystic Aegis unleashed her Amazon Blessing, increasing her strength and speed, while Glacial Sentinel concentrated her Cryokinesis into a powerful ice beam. The result was a combined impact that shattered the barrier and left the boy exposed.

Max did not hesitate. He quickly activated his Quirk, switching to Electro Surge for the enhanced analysis ability. He studied the boy and noticed that the regeneration was progressing, noting that he had already regenerated most of his head except for one eye.

He watched them, it seemed that his Quirk was only being able to concentrate on his regeneration, as the wooden dragons were disappearing.

With unwavering resolve, Captain Mirage approached the fallen boy, resting his hands firmly on the boy's head. "I'm sorry, but this must come to an end," he muttered as he channeled his Quirk, acquiring the extraordinary ability of Phoenix, a hero whose essence allowed him to absorb and redistribute life energy.

The boy's regeneration stopped, his smoke stopped coming out and Max experienced his own Quirk being momentarily extinguished. The other heroes surrounded the scene, keeping a watchful eye on the situation.

In front of the heroes, the boy's eyes changed to a somber shade of gray as the kanji faded from his gaze. He was silent for a moment, only to exhale a regretful sigh as his body preceded to disintegrate. It melted into a crimson dust that dispersed in the surrounding breeze. The heroes, with regret in their hearts, watched as the boy vanished into the wind, taking with him the truth that lay behind his tragic plight. Although they had succeeded in neutralizing the threat, the helplessness left a palpable imprint on the atmosphere.

Max Grayson, Captain Mirage, stood up with a serious expression on his face. He looked at his fellow heroes and said with determination, "Our job as heroes goes beyond simply defeating villains. We must also address the underlying causes that lead to situations like this. We will investigate further and make sure the truth comes out."

The heroes nodded in agreement, aware that their duty went beyond physical battles. As New York City slowly recovered from the chaos, the heroes dispersed to tend to the wounded and assist in the rescue efforts.

Max reached out to his wife, Mystic Aegis, and gave her a comforting hug. Together, they vowed to continue fighting not only the villains, but also the roots of injustice and suffering.

The sun was beginning to peek over the horizon as the heroes, united in their determination, prepared to face the challenges to come. The story of that day would become another chapter in their lives as protectors of peace and justice.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Well, that turned out interesting," expressed a being as it watched the scene on a screen of sorts, enjoying what appeared to be glowing popcorn. This being answered to the name of Clide, an executive and malevolent deity with a muscular figure of humanoid appearance but transcending the simple human form by adopting a vibrant, purple-toned skin.

His hair, of captivating strangeness, resembled a constellation in motion, weaving flashes of energy in the air as he passed. Horns evoking the essence of the mystical and demonic rose gracefully from her head. Eyes and mouth, like portals to another dimension, broke the monochrome with pure, radiant white. A smile, expressed by both his eyes and mouth, illuminated his face with a warmth that defied any preconceived notion of the supernatural.

Seated on a throne made up of galaxies, Clide watched the goings-on while tasting stars. "This might have been his eighth life, but it was certainly the shortest and most chaotic. I liked it," said Clide with some satisfaction.

You may wonder why this being was watching this scene. To answer that question, we must remember that Clide had been charged by the being beyond omnipotence, Elian, to carry out the "Reincarnation and me!" project. The project was to take a single soul and reincarnate it throughout the vast omniverse #33-a. To accomplish this, Clide divided the lucky individual's soul into millions of parts and personally carried them throughout the omniverse.

However, he quickly grew bored of managing lives and decided to create clones while immersing himself in the multiverse of "My Hero Academia" to do his own thing. In short, he performed a cycle of reincarnations, modifying certain aspects to make it more interesting for him.

Before questions arise, yes, there is a god that takes care of that multiverse, but he couldn't do anything against Clide, so he allowed him to do whatever he wanted. In this eighth life, he made a simple change but it brought wonderful results.

"Now, what shall I do for your ninth life?" began Clide planning as he moved the individual's soul into the void between universes.

"What do you think you're doing, executive Clide?" echoed a voice that chilled Clide, who looking back found his boss, Elian.

Elian, in his human form, chose to go unnoticed, so he designed his human form as such. He was of average height and of normal build. His neutral hair fell softly around his face, and his brown eyes, though seemingly ordinary, revealed a deep wisdom.

Elian dressed simply and modestly, wearing clothes that blended easily with the crowd. His outfit consisted of a soft fabric shirt in neutral tones, along with simple, comfortable pants. A discreet sweater completed his outfit, providing warmth without drawing attention to himself. On his feet, he wore simple but functional shoes, ideal for going unnoticed. Each choice of clothing reflected his desire not to stand out and to remain in the shadows of the everyday.

"Boss, I... ah... am" he was going to continue to make an excuse but he knew it was worthless, as Elian had omniscience, although he kept it turned off most of the time, as "it got boring knowing everything, all the time" according to Elian.

And as he suspected, Elian raised a hand towards him to demand silence, and Clide could feel his mouth disappear.

"I know you know that was a rhetorical question," he said to then shift his gaze to the screen Clide was watching, causing Clide to look at the screen as well, which now showed 8 different videos, including the one he was watching, "I know what you've been doing, do you think the administrator of this multiverse wouldn't show a complaint? Don't fuck with me." Elian said calmly.

Clide tried to say something, generate a mouth to speak or something, but he couldn't, his boss wouldn't let him.

"Here's what's going to happen." Started Elian "You are going to undo your clones, and you will be personally charged with distributing the missing souls throughout the #33-a multiverse, and don't even think of deviating from this project, if you want to keep your life, am I clear?" said Elian as he looked at Clide, to which Clide quickly nodded.

Elian's look didn't change, he waved his hand and Clide disappeared from his sight, Elian was going to keep an eye on him, as he didn't trust the chaotic nature of the god.

"(Why did I think it was okay to use an evil god?) he couldn't help but think expressionlessly the one beyond omnipotence, as he looked at the soul that was stranded in the emptiness of the multiverse.

"(Although... this soul made some interesting changes in some universes)" Elian couldn't help but notice as he looked at the universes. "(Now, what if I put some of these changes together in one universe, and send this boy there, after all it would be a shame to waste the things he has done so far)" he said and with a thought, he created said universe and sent the boy's soul to that universe.

"Good, now the administrator of that multiverse will just have to make sure that universe stays stable, which shouldn't be hard for an administrator like him, if he doesn't succeed I'll kill him." Said to himself Elian feeling satisfied and curious as to how this interesting new course for that universe would go.

A new universe created by him usually falls outside the lines of what is predestined, so the administrator of that multiverse has to place it to what most of the world was destined for, so he is curious what changes it will have.

"Maybe... the game Clide played isn't so bad after all," Elian mused and then shrugged "that doesn't mean I'm taking away his punishment." He said and then left.
