1 Day of the Dead

Two months before the Outbreak in Afghanistan was Ian Michaels, and Jennifer Harvey, who both joined the military in October of 2014. Ian who was African American, toned, and 6'1, was wielding an A-K 47 in his military gear, was walking beside the beautiful Jennifer Harvey, his best friend. She was there for working on the dead bodies of fallen soldiers and treating patients. Ian was her personal bodyguard, being he was the only one she trusted. They were walking to visit lieutenant Lawkins. "It's Hot as Shit!" Ian Pointed out, as Jennifer adjusted her white lab coat with a biohazard emblem on the back. "Relax, it'll only be a couple of minutes, look... after this, we can go grab a couple of cold ones how does that sound?" She asked, as Ian looked at her and replied, "hell's yeah." As they continued walking to their destination. Ian then asked Jennifer, "So what's going on? Why are we going to see Lawkins anyways?" He asked as Jennifer brushed her long brunette hair to the side and fixed her glasses and looked at the papers. "I'm working on the Autopsy of a Hector Thiago, he came in this morning, Veteran Soldier and earned a Purple Heart for saving the lives of countless kids from a burning building. As I was checking his body and reading the Autopsy, it said that he died from a high fever, and get this on his right wrist, he has a bite mark from the looks of it, it's from another human being." Jennifer explained as Ian was looking at his gun. "Damn," he said as they made it to the building where Lawkins was located. "Okay we're here," she said as they walked up to two of the soldiers at the entrance's main gate. "State your names please?" One of the guards asked, "I'm Jennifer from the Autopsy department and this is Ian who is accompanying me." she answered. "Ah Michaels and Harvey, you must be here to meet with Lawkins, but Michaels, leave your weapon here, you know the rules, then you go right in and you can retrieve it on your way out." the other soldier said as Ian gave them his gun and one of the guards frisked the both of them. "Alright, they're all clear." the first soldier said and then he let them in. The inside of the building was heavily guarded by soldiers, "Jacobs." Ian said while nodding to the soldier as he did the same to Ian. They then made it to his office and Jennifer explained everything to Lawkins. "I see, anyone else like this?" He asked as Jennifer answered, "Yes sir after he was brought in, more like him showed up afterward." "Hector Thiago you say?" Lawkins asked while taking another sip of his vodka in the little drinking glass and got up from his desk. "This is indeed something else, I'll have Margret come by later and take a look at him, but in the meantime, see yourselves out, I have a meeting with the General at 1300 hours," he said with his back turned at them while he looked out of the window, as Ian looked on as Jennifer stood up from her seat.

After getting his weapon back and heading back with Jennifer, Ian added "well that went smooth." and before Jennifer could say anything, "Hey wait up!" Another female voice called out. Ian and Jennifer stopped in their tracks and saw Jacobs and Margret behind them. "I heard about that Hector guy," Margret said as it Showed Ian and Jacobs walking behind them. "So Michaels, you and Jennifer have been around each other day in and day out, so tell me, are you two bumping ugly's?" He asked while nudging Ian on the shoulders. "No bro, we're just friends, she watches my back, and I watch hers." Ian answered as Jacobs said sarcastically "yeah...okay."

Minutes later, they all got word that more bodies like Hector had come in with bite marks. "Looks like we gotta pull another all-nighter, looks like we have to get those drinks another time," Jennifer said with a sigh as Ian sat in a chair in the lab as well as Jacobs.

Several minutes have passed by when Margret and Jennifer were working on some of the bodies when one twitched. "That's weird." Margret exclaimed. "what?" Jacobs asked. "This body, it twitched," she said while laughing and looking at Jacobs with a flirtatious look on her face. Out of nowhere, one of the bodies jumped up and started biting Margret's Arm. "What the Fuck!" Ian yelled as the dead guy continued as Jennifer ran by Ian and Jacobs started shooting the body and then getting it in the head. Jennifer then opened the door as the other bodies awoke and started coming toward them. "Margret!!!!" Jacobs yelled while seeing the dead attack Her. After running out of the place, they witnessed even more of the dead attacking the soldiers as gunshot after a gunshot was heard in the background, followed by an explosion. "the Fuck is this!!!" Ian yelled while he and Jacobs started shooting the dead. It then shows Lawkins getting mauled by the undead. "Fuck!" Lawkins yelled as he choked on his blood while the dead fed on his flesh and intestines. Ian, Jennifer, and Jacobs hid behind the military jeep while the chaos was at hand. "What do we do?" Jennifer asked in a panicked voice. "Look I'll go and get the plane ready, you two just stay alive! Here is the walkie, I'll radio you when I'm ready!" Jacobs yelled as he started firing rounds off and running off. "C'mon Jen!" Ian yelled as he grabbed Jennifer by the arm and ran off. Ian and Jennifer Made it to his bunker first to grab his things, then to hers right next to his. "Let's go!" He yelled as one of the undead came into the bunker and Ian shooting on sight and killing it. "Michaels, Harvey it's ready! Let's move!" Jacobs screamed on the radio. They then took off running, Jennifer who was holding on to Ian extra tight while he shot any and every dead person that came towards them, Jennifer was screaming in fear. Ian then handed her a Glock 40, "aim and shoot!" Ian yelled as she did so as they saw the plane in sight. They then started running with speed as a horde of dead soldiers came running towards them as Ian and Jennifer were running and shooting. "Shit!" Jennifer screamed. "let's go!" Jacobs screamed as they both jumped on the plane as it started to go into the sky. Ian then shot 4 dead soldiers that were clinging on to the plane then he shut the door breathing heavily as well as Jennifer as the plane was in the air now. "What the hell's going on?" Jacobs asked as Ian was looking out one of the windows and Jennifer was sitting in one of the seats trying to catch her breath. "I don't know, those geeks just came back to life and attacked Margret," Ian added. Jacobs became silent for a while as he continued to navigate the plane. Ian then went to go and check on Jennifer. "Everything alright?" He asked as Jennifer started crying and hugged Ian as he dropped his gun and hugged her back. "Jacobs, where are we headed?" Ian asked as Jacob replied, "Home." Ian then continued to console Jennifer by handing her some water from a canteen, she was shaking nervously while drinking the water. "Sorry for your lost Jacobs," Ian said while Jacobs kept silent. "You should rest up Jen," Ian added while turning his attention to her who was already asleep. Ian then made his way to the front of the plane to accompany Jacobs. "Let's just hope whatever that was back there at the base, hasn't spread worldwide." He said.

Meanwhile, in Bloomington Minnesota, It shows Jordan Phillips and his girlfriend Remedy Taylor in their apartment barricading the doors. "Remedy! head for the fire escape, Go!" He yelled as she did so. Jordan then felt the door giving in and he to escaped as a horde of the undead made their way into the apartment. Jordan and Remedy took the stairs and made it to ground level. "Avoid the roads at all cost Remedy," Jordan said as Remedy worry in her eyes. "Listen, we will get through this," he reassured her as a forceful smile came across her face.

An hour later, the plane landed at The airport. it then showed Ian, Jennifer, and Jacobs landing and getting off of the plane. "Shit what happened?" Jacobs asked as they all looked around at the destroyed Airport. "From The looks of it, it looks like it happened here as well, the same thing at the base," Jennifer replied. "No dead insight." Ian pointed out with his gun poised ready to shoot as well as Jennifer and Jacobs as they made their way inside. The undead was all over the place inside as they kept quiet sneaking past them and into one of the mini-stores. "Okay, we need to make it to one of those vehicles outside and get home," Ian suggested in a whisper, as they were eating anything that they could find lying around. Then washing it down with some water. "man I hope my wife made it." Ian said as Jennifer added, "I want to see my family again." she added as Jacobs intervened, "we have to get going." as they all made their way out.

Several minutes later, Jacobs found car keys to a 2005 Jeep and they were in the car and on their way.

They made it to Jacobs place first around 3:39 P.M.

When they made their way in his place, it was trashed. "Watchdog you here?" He called out to no response. "I'll be back," Jacobs said as he checked in his friend's room, he then heard moaning of sorts coming from the bathroom. "Watchdog?" He whispered as he opened the door to see his friend sitting in the tub now one of the undead. Watchdog had lost his legs and one of his arms and with the other arm, he was handcuffed to a handle on the tub reaching for Jacobs. "Shit...what happened to you Watchdog?" Jacobs asked as his friend was empty-minded. "I'm sorry bro, I can't let you live like this," he said while in a stooping position and he pulled out a combat knife and stabbed watchdog in the head.

He then made his way downstairs. "Did you find him?" Jennifer asked as Jacobs ignored her question, "let's go." he said as Ian looked at Jennifer then at Jacobs.

15 minutes later, they made it to Ian's home, which was located in a Subdivision area also destroyed. They pulled up to Ian's house and he charged inside looking for his wife, "Dana, Dana!" he called out to no response. Ian searched the whole house and then made his way upstairs to their bedroom. He then came downstairs and threw each of them a duffle bag, "take whatever is needed and then we leave. "he said as he headed back upstairs to his room. He then grabbed his backpack and started packing a few things. He grabbed his hunting knife from under the bed and then he grabbed a picture of him and Dana from a ski resort back in 2011. He then had a flashback while looking at the king-sized bed. It shows Ian in bed with his wife, Dana. they had just finished making love, as she looked at Ian who looked at her and she said, "I love you Ian Michaels." as Ian said "I love you too." while kissing her as they both got up Ian with just boxers on and Dana with a bra and panties on. They both then headed into the bathroom and started taking a shower.

The flashback ended, Ian then made it downstairs and they were packed up and headed for Jennifer's place, and the entire car ride everyone was quiet. Ian was sitting in the backseat with Jennifer staring out of the window.

An hour later, They made it to Jennifer's house and ran out of gas as well. "Well this is our last stop, and we're also out of gas, Jacobs mentioned as they all got out of the car. Jennifer then grabbed the key from under the potted plant and made her way inside with Jacobs and Ian. "Mom...dad," she called out going upstairs to their bedroom and the guys followed. She then opened the door to see the saddest moment in her life that shattered her heart. It was her parents lying in bed holding hands and they too had become the undead. Jennifer then saw the gun on the picture of her and her parents and she began to cry as Ian and Jacobs came into the room to see the scene as well. She then hugged Ian while sobbing, "I know Jen, it's gonna be okay" Ian assured her when she took out her gun and was shaking and crying trying to aim steady. Ian then grabbed the gun and her hand and lowered it. "Jacobs, take Jennifer downstairs," Ian said as he did so. The door then closed as Ian stood there looking at the two of them. "I'm sorry," he said as he pulled out his knife and stabbed them both in the head.

Hours later, the house was boarded up and the power was out, they had lit candles and they were eating pork n beans while sitting on the carpet and had a bottle of water with them as well. "This doesn't make any sense," Jennifer said as Ian and Jacobs looked up. "How did the virus spread here, how?" She asked. "Beats me, we should've killed all of those sick fuckers when we had the chance." Jacobs pointed out as Ian stopped eating and said, "I'm gonna go to bed." he stood up carrying his flashlight and his Gun and went into Jennifer's bathroom and got a blanket, and slept in the tub. "You should go and get rest as well Jen, I'll keep watch." Jacobs insisted as Jennifer went to her room and went to bed. Back in the bathroom, Ian was looking at the ski resort picture of himself and Dana, "I will find you, babe." As he kissed the picture and fell asleep.

Back downstairs, Jacobs was puffing on a Cuban cigar he had in his jacket pocket, "I wish you were here watchdog." he said as he walked towards the boarded window to see some of the geeks on the roads outside.

Outside, it then shows Jordan and Remedy running from a horde of the undead. "C'mon Remedy!" He yelled as they were coming towards a house as Jacobs grabbed his gun "For fuck sake!" He yelled as he unlocked the door and started blasting the undead. "let's goooo!!!" He yelled as Jordan and Remedy kept running as the undead was still on their tail. They then made it inside and they were all panting. "Are any of you bit?" Jacobs asked as Jordan replied, "no...just tired." "Ok, go and get some rest and we'll figure everything out tomorrow," Jacobs suggested as they did so.

The next morning, Jacobs had fallen asleep in the chair and Jennifer had awoken in her bedroom, it then shows Ian getting up and the two of them met an went downstairs. "Jordan....Remedy?" Ian said as they all went to hug one another. "dude it's been years." Jordan said as Remedy asked where Dana was. Ian then lowered his head "I…..I don't know." he said when the walkie-talkie on the table in the living room went off with noise. "he....(static)....hello...(static).....if anyone can hear me(static)....my name is Dana F.....(static) and me and other survivors are trapped.....(static) at the WANRS radio station downtown.....(static)....please help! we have a group here and a kid, we have no food nor water or meds....if anyone is out there please help....." she said as the radio went to static as it showed Ian's face to end the chapter.
