56 Thanks for Your Consideration

'That's nice of him to have thought of us,' Jade thought as Liam left. 'I suppose he just wants to help us out given what's happened recently. After all, he did offer to pay for our repairs.'

One could never call Jade dumb; she was smart, diligent, and conscientious. However, if there was one thing she was not good at, it was picking up on hints. Even with Bernie teasing her about Liam's daily visits for so long, she still only laughed it off as a joke.

Thus, even though Liam had suggested, albeit in a round-about way, a method through which the business could expand, Jade did not pick up on it.

'It would have been nice if he had held the meeting here. I'm interested in what the scion of big company does.'

As she thought that, another question popped into her mind. 'Hmm… what does he do again exactly? Does he help manage his family's company, or does he have a specific role, like accountant? And what does his company do? Silver Fox mentioned that their family owns a big conglomerate, but that just means it's a colossal company, right?'

Ting ding!

As another customer entered the store, Jade realized, 'Wait… why am I suddenly so curious about a customer's life? Ha ha, I really must be tired, daydreaming like this.'

"Welcome." Putting on her bright smile once more, Jade asked, "What can I get you today?"

With that new customer began the after work rush. Like earlier, everything ran smoothly for Jade and Bernie as they prepared the orders. That day's rush was even busier than usual, but Jade was on the ball and managed just fine.

'It's a little busy, but more work means more money, so I cannot complain. Although a small increase one day won't mean much, every little helps. If every day was as busy as this, our worries would not be as serious.'

Surprisingly, there was quite a number of customers who opted to stay in the cafe during the rush, which was not usual.

On one table, a group of young businesswomen were happily chatting over their teas and coffees. The group looked to be in their late twenties to early thirties, so they were a few years older than Jade.

The group looked like they had come out of an anime show—each had a different hair color! There was brown hair, black hair, ginger hair, and blonde hair. There was even one with blue hair, which Jade had to admit suited the young lady's smooth, pale skin and soft features.

While Jade served their drinks, and a slice of cake for one of them, the women continued their conversation, which meant that Jade was able to listen in on their gossip.

"I cannot believe that Samantha got the promotion over you, Beth. I shall speak to my father about this later," the blonde woman said.

"Please, there's no need to go to so much trouble," Beth, the woman with black hair, replied. "Samantha is more qualified than me. If not for your help, I would not have been in the running in the first place!"
