You don't need to really know their meaning to kind of understand the plot but knowing the meaning can help you digest the story a lot easier. Their meaning and/or definition will be written down in the end of the chapter when it first appears only. Check out previous chapter(s) if you don't know a certain term (or you can google some of it).

I will make a special chapter or maybe another auxiliary chapter about the ranks and grades used, and perhaps of the terms that have appeared in the novel as well.
