Arrival

Getting off the plane in JFK was like a whole different world. I was trying to find my way to baggage claim when I heard,

" Rosie, Rosie babe."

I turned and found my best friend from college running at me. Jasmine Stewart, she and I met freshman year we lived in the same dorm and became friends instantly. I haven't seen her much since we graduate 5 years ago but we have kept in touch and I still think she's one of my best friends ( I mean who else would let you move in with them with little warning).

I ran to her and hugged her. It was great seeing her after everything that his happened ( I'll tell you later it's been a lot).

"Jazz babe I'm so happy to see you. I'm afraid I'm lost in this big place" I said looking around still haven't found baggage claim.

She looked at me and laughed. "you small town girl, got to get used to crowds living here."

I know she is right I have really only ever lived in a small town in Texas where I'm from the only thing I lived somewhere bigger was in college but even then I had Jazz to help me out.

I linked my arm with hers, " help me please" I said and we walked together laughing to find my luggage. We found it and when to her car.

As we drove we talked catching up, the last time I saw her was for my birthday last year she came to surprise me. She travels around a lot with her job, she is a PR rep for some big name people, so it was great seeing her. She told me about the new townhouse in Manhattan that we will be sharing. Then she looked at me with a sad expression on her face that I've gotten so used to seeing the last week or so.

" so how are you really doing with what happened ?" she asked.

I have heard this question so many times since my parents accident.

"I'm dealing with is. it helps to be out of that town now. I don't think I could manage being there anymore without them." I said and gave her the best smile I had. and it's was true I think I would have gone crazy if I had stayed. Everyone there new me and what happened and would always look at me with pitty as the girl who lost her parents. I was happy to be in a place that no one know who I was. I can start new.

We got to the house and it looked beautiful. The building look like it grew with the plants in the outside, it was brick with steps the led to a dark green door. It was spectacular. we brought my stuff inside, the place was a little small but it felt warm and inviting. The living room had a comfortable blue grey couch with a plush ottoman. We when up stairs to the bedrooms to drop my stuff.

"Do you like it?" asked Jazz with a smile

"It's fantastic." I replied looking around the room. It was empty except for my cloths, I brought most of them with me so I wouldn't be stuck without anything to where. I had shipped the rest of my stuff separate and that should be arriving in a few days. I would sleep on the couch till then.

" I'm glad you like it" she paused looking a little awkward and guilty.

"What is it" I said knowing her.

" Well I know it's your first day here, and I don't want to leave you alone but there is this work thing that I have tonight. It's a party to attract clients, I would love for you to come I can introduce you to some people, you'll have fun." she said it all as quickly as she could then smiled at me hopefully.

I sighed "you know how awkward I am in groups I don't know."

"I know just think about it. Getting out can clear your head. I'll leave your name at the door. I have to go get ready." she started out of my room, then stopped, turned over her shoulder and said "wear some heels. and I'm so happy you're here."

Once she left my room I went to my bathroom to take a relaxing bath traveling all morning I felt gross.

When I got out of the bathroom it was about 5pm Jazz's thing started at 6:30 she was already there and I still didn't know if I wanted to go. I looked around my room that had nothing but a few suitcases in it and decided I didn't want to be alone, I came here so I wouldn't have to be so I went to look for something to wear.
