1 Chapter One

Our story starts at a lovely two storey family home on Odd Street in a country town.

I sit on my window seat, gazing out into space waiting for the bus to arrive.

"Bloom, honey? The bus has arrived." My mum called up, trying to get me out of the house. The thing is. I don't usually get out that often. Kids at my school tend to think I'm weird. And others think I'm normal but different. I really wish I wasn't chosen to go to this ridiculous camp for special kids like me. Good bye room. Goodbye books and my lovely computer. Hello camp in the middle of nowhere!

"Coming Mum!" My voice carries all the way downstairs and to the front door where Mr C is waiting. I grab my bag, before I take a look around my room. I so didn't want to go. I could hide in my tree house in the backyard? No. They would find me there. Everyone's waiting for me. I guess I better go.

I lug my suit case down the stairs. Making sure they heard I was coming. Every time my parents see my teacher. They start talking about me in very quiet tones. As if they are afraid someone might hear what they are saying. When I finally reach the bottom of the stair case. I head towards the front door. There's Mr C, giving me that weird smile yet again. I think he can read minds or something? "Hello Mr C. Love you mum and dad." I say carefully before anyone asks any questions. I get two hugs and a pat on the back before I turn to go. I get five steps out the door before my mum stops me. "Wait, honey. I almost forgot to give you your gift." Oh no! Not a farewell gift. The last one was a pack of socks.

I turn by my heel to see my dad giving my mum a weird shape package. As soon as my mum hands me the package, I rip it straight open. Inside is a dagger in a case. I thank them and attach it to my belt. As I'm boarding the bus, I take a look back at my house. I didn't know it but I would only be coming back to my house finding all of our things packed up.

As I start to walk up the aisle of the bus. I see the new girl Annabeth waving for me to sit at the front. I can't believe my parents actually gave me a dagger. "Hey Annabeth. You wouldn't believe what my parents just gave me." I sarcastically said as I sat down.

"Hey, what did they give you?" She asked me smiling. I explained my gift to Annabeth and showed her the dagger.

Once we finished chatting, the scenery started changing from city to country to forest. We were gazing out the bus window, when I saw a women and a man dressed in togas standing on the side of the road. "Did....did you see them?" I asked being careful not to say anything weird. Annabeth had a big look out the window, but saw nothing but trees. "No. What did you see?" She answered my question. I slowly explained exactly what I saw. I knew Mr C was listening from across the aisle. When I finished she just shook her head in shock and told me I was probably just seeing things. I pushed the thought aside and in no time we were going through some big gates into the camp. I didn't know if anyone else noticed the big metal wall surrounding the camp. I was pulled from my thoughts when the bus stopped in front a big wooden building.

"Please carefully exit the bus without any accidents." Mr D said in a very sarcastic way. Why is everyone talking very strange today? Who were those people standing in togas on the side of the road? So many questions but no answers.

As I stepped off the bus I couldn't believe my eyes. The place was beautiful! A lake with trees on the shore. A line of wooden cabins and a huge wall. Other stuff was here and there but it was like a peaceful valley. But I had one of my strange feelings that something wasn't right about this place. Two men were waiting for us to arrive. Once everyone was off they began a welcome speech. I was kinda in my own world and didn't here any of it except the end part. ".....and so we welcome you to Camp Star. Where we prepare high school kids for life. Also we do fun activities. We will now take you to your cabins. Then you could explore the place and maybe even go for a swim in the pool." They ended the speech and took us to our cabins. Wonder who I will be with?
