2 2. CHASING JUSTICE

Raghav's car was declared a VIP vehicle whenever he went to see it and was told that it was parked in a safe location and could be seen in two hours or so. It never happened and every time he returned frustrated. His curiosity increased when he saw a car. Last time when he was returning, an accompanying friend hunched and asked to detour towards the house of the Senior Superintendent of Police and saw a car entering the gate with a fashionable lady with two young daughters. It was carrying the same registration number. Ladies had gone shopping and carried many bags. They looked like rich persons with money in their wallets which was earned in bribes by officers whose salary was moderate by all standards. His heart ached and thought, "Who can stop such misuse of vehicles? Later some senior advocates enquired about the age of the vehicle. He said it was one year old and done two thousand kilometers only.

The senior man said, "It must be run by these people and it shouldn't be surprising to know that the judge listening to the case must have used this car. Police department provides such a new vehicle so he doesn't face difficulty during trips. This is also the Lane 22 operation."

Raghav was tempted to say, "Why don't such people feel ashamed of indulging in immoral acts? How can people have respect for them? They must be abusing and cursing."

It was enough for the day and my friend saw his sad face. He asked to drive back home and further said, "You should feel happy that the vehicle exists and they aren't bluffing. Many times they do so and later make excuses of wrong identification. None can dare to challenge beyond a limit otherwise get punished for remaining days of life and sent to jail with wrong and concocted charges and make the family suffer and cry. Police in our country have been found torturing people when in custody. People don't wish to come close to the police which is nastier than hell.
