Chapter 16

Now that bastille is awake. We spend almost all our time together. For me, it is because I have been on my own... well the only person of my age. There are my parents, the droids, and me. Then bastille shows up and it became two adults, two kids, and the droids. Now over the next several years we had many disagreements like who is older. Linearly bastille is older but if you take the time in stasis out of the equation then I am older by a day.

Another thing we had disagreements with was force powers. I had a theory that it was the attachments that grounded the Jedi and made them better people where the Sith went to the Dark Side due to the violent removal of those attachments followed by a unwilling ness to let go, accept forgiveness, and move on.

The modern Jedi code is just illogical and contradictory.

There is no Emotion, there is Peace

There is no ignorance, there is Knowledge

There is no Passion, there is Serenity

There is no Chaos, there is Harmony

There is no Death, there is The Force

The jedi Code reminds me of a well meaning emotional

1st Verse There is no Emotion, there is Peace. This, if followed, is more like an apathetic person.

2nd Verse There is no Ignorance, there is Knowledge. But there is Ignorance, and the more you know, the more you know you don't know. Instead you should use the force to guide you to seek that which you need to get your future tasks done.

3rd Verse There is no Passion, There is Serenity. Passion is what drives Creatives. With out Passion there would be no art, there would be no music, there would be no break through in Science. Serenity is the feeling you get after a job well done when you take a moment to just relax, Reflect and enjoy your surroundings.

4th Verse There is no Chaos, there is Harmony. That just makes me sigh. Chaos is all around. It is what we make of this Chaos that we find our place and enjoy the harmony that we create around us. It's the Force, it allows us insight in to our surroundings allowing us to foresee the coming commotions that exist in every day occurrences.

5th Verse There is no Death, There is the Force. There is death, There is Life, There is the Force

Peace is a lie, there is only Passion

Through Passion, I gain Strength

Through Strength, I gain Power

Through Power, I gain Victory

Im not going to go over the school yard bullies with delusions of grandeur and Emo tendencies, who like to swing around glowing rave sticks and throwing tantrums, when they don't get there way.

What were these guy smoking when they came up with this. Was this an ancient Jedi who was pulling the greatest prank in all history? (Ie. Kung Pow Enter the Fist; Wimp Lo. "We trained him wrong as a joke.") in my opinion your code should begin and End with the Force.

If I was writing my own Code it would go somthing like this

Through the Force I bring Peace to all my Emotion

Through the Force I gain Knowledge of my Ignorance

Through the Force I feel Serenity in all my Passion

Through the Force I see Harmony in the Chaos

There is Life, There is Death, There is the Force

Enough about that subject. Bastille and I agree that our Code needs work but the teachings on technique are still valid from both sides. We just took out all the doctrine that causes harm to self or other. Once that was done after a few optimizations using droids we came up with a prety good training manual in all things force.

Over time I made progress on my craft and then my dad told me an important piece of information. The craft I make has to be no bigger than a light shuttle, well there goes my droid controlled light frigate .

My dad then gives Bastille and I a tablet with a ship and systems.

"Alright Bastille and Ed, this is your ship right now on the left hand side of the screen is your ship specs as is. One of the things you can change is the hull configuration and if you look in the top right corner there you will see that you currently have 10 BP. BP in this case stands for Build points, you start off with 100, each system costs BP, better systems cost more and inferior systems cost less. The ship here is what is called the flying Brick. Its small, robust, and will get the job done. Now you and bastille can use this to design your ship."

So that's what we did

about 3 weeks later we had a ship.

It started out as a Mandolorian U-Wing

Then we took off the two side doors and put in Pressure hatches just behind the cockpit on each side. That saved a few BP. Then we revamped the wings so they would act as part of the sensors and communications array. They also became better able to help with maneuvering in atmosphere.

For a power core we took the largest fighter core available and put it in our shuttle. It set us back a few BP but we saved on room and are able to move that bulkhead back a bit.

Thrusters... Well, we went with average it can accelerate us at a rate of 800G with the counter gravity to make it safe.

Armor, we down graded the armor to an Mk3 out of 20. Its enough to keep us safe from a few stray shots. We then spent the armor BP that we saved by getting Heavy shuttle shields. They will protect us from 70 ship Blasters or 35 Turbo-Blasters or 15 Heavy Turbo-Blasters before we have to wait two minutes before they are charged back to full.

Our communications due to size limitations are only useable on a system scale and are unable to communicate through hyper space. For a hyper space transmitter/ receiver you need a small freighter.

Computer processor is the equivalent of 2 R2 units when it comes astronavigation. So we can calculate and make a jump in about 10 seconds

Weapons we were not expecting to get in to too much trouble right away so we went with 1 twin Medium Blasters. Mounted bellow the cockpit which has a travel arc of 60 degrees left and right 40 degrees down and 20 degrees up. When in combat we can direct some of our computing power to the weapons mounts to better able to hit a moving target. We are planing on placing a roof turret and an anti personnel turret on each wing which can also act as point defense, we unfortunately don't have the 20BP to add another system.

Counter measures. We can hide our ship from sensors for 6 hours with systems of standby and 1 minute at full power. We also have a chafe launcher with 6 sets of distractions. and we have a limited ECM.

Hyper Drive. We settled on a Class 4.Its not the best but it will get us around.

(For this story Hyper drives will Follow the Rules of [Y=(-tan(x+90))+1] where Y= Parsec per Hour and X= Hyper drive class. I thought about using a logarithmic growth where the longer you are in hyper the faster you go and the better your drive the sharper your growth curve. But I decided against that)

With the space we saved we now have a port and starboard cargo bay with the internal volume of 4Lx3Wx3H Meters. They both have a large external hatch and a small internal hatch.

For amenities we have a small galley Mini fridge, counter, sink, cabinet, microwave. Which is locate across ship from the refresher which is an all in one bathroom. It's a little bigger than a telephone booth. Behind the cockpit after the external hatch way is bunk room starboard and medical on the port side. Each of these rooms are as big and the cargo bays the medical room is just taken up by the two medical capsules and medical droid. The bunk room has folding beds so during waking hours it becomes a living room with wall projector to watch videos or play games. As a first ship I think this will take us among the stars to start our journey. Will have to see what my cousin uses as his first ship. Knowing him its going to be fast.

Well we went off the specks to Dad and he sent a return saying we forgot to allocate space for personal items so he sent it back with an addendum. It shows the ship lengthening by 3 Meters and widening at the back by 1 meter.

That 1 meter allows for a corridor between both cargo holds to allow for easier access to the power core, warp drive, and engines. The stretched 3 meters allows for a work shop with one side housing my 3d printer and work bench the other side houses an actual living room with an easel for painting next to a view port.

When you go back to the bunk room it was changed to a bed room. The bed still folds up to allow us to better use our floor space. Then we find a note from my Mom "Hope you like it, Also check you bathroom, I shrank Medical to make up the room.

Moving the plans we find that the medical bays are now stacked with the pods on top of each other with side access. This saves about a third of the space with better storage for consumables.

At the bathroom we find an actual bathroom. Its got a full sized tub, toilet and sink. Here is another note. "Please allow 12 hours after draining the tub before refiling it." on that note I look for the life support systems and find the water and waste management is now located in the flooring all up and down the ship and the atmospheric scrubbers and storage is located in the ceiling. Which makes for a better use of space then what I had originally allocated. Instead of 1 big system we now had a distributed system. Instead of one tank to re-pressurize the entire ship we now had 30 smaller tanks and systems located through out the ship. The batteries back-up are now located inside of the interior walls. Instead of in a large array above the engines.

So to reiterate we have a ship with 2 floors top floor is Cockpit, Bedroom, Medical, Bathroom, and Galley. The bottom floor is the Living room, Workshop, Hatch Starboard/Port Cargo 1 & 2, and Engineering which has the hyper drive, Power core, and engine access.

The Ship Dimensions are as follows

4 meters Landing Gear retracted 4.5 Gear extended.

It has the capacity to hold 8 people using fold down seating in the living room.

Fuel will last for 3 months at full power and decades at standby.

Reaction mass is used at a negligible rate due to the new tech I invented and at worst case we can use the reactor exhaust. The reactor will just run at a 10% efficiency.

The Galley has enough stores for 8 people to eat fresh food for 1 month, preserved food (Processed in some way) for 3 months and emergency (compressed nutrient blocks. 2000 calories in the size of a domino) 1 year.

Now if you have seen a picture you will see a wedge like space in the front. Well that is for a small lift, storage, computer core, and the main weapons supplies and equipment.

After seeing the changes made, it makes more sense if you consider damage control, and ease of access. No more having to space walk for a power run failure.

So we sent it back off with our thanks and then ran off to find Mom to give her a hug.

Dad sent a message back notifying us that it should be completed and ready for a trial run in 3 months.
