3 CH003 My new life begins

Quickly standing and looking at the group before me I noticed a couple of people sneaking behind me holding spears.

Looking down at myself I noticed my body had changed, now my legs and lower half, much like a satyr, where covered in black as night fur and instead of hooves like a normal satyr I had large paws like a wolf, I now had well toned body, abs the whole shebang. My hair was now dark black like my legs and cut short on the sides but long on the top.

Reaching up I also felt my wolf like ears and above them where glossy, smooth black horns curving and pointing backwards from atop of my head. With my body exactly how I envisioned it before coming here I could only suspect that my eyes where the lightning blue I wanted.

With my movements the group before me became tense and pointed there weapons at me. Putting my hands up I didn't move and stared directly at Chiron.

Chiron: "Who are you"

"My name is Cody, I'm sorry if I'm somewhere I'm not meant to be I just saw this tree and wanted to use it as shelter to rest for the night." The tree in question was large in diameter and stood taller then any tree around here. I could only guess this was Thalia's tree that provided the protective dome around the camp.

"Well Cody, the only way you can be here is if your not a monster and your a demigod."

"But I'm not a monster."

One of the group members behind Chiron scoffed "yeah right have you looked at yourself"

Chiron turned to the camper, "now, now there is no need to be like that, now how long have you been here Cody."

"Here, like 5 mins why."

Chiron: "And how old are you."

"I can remember being through 18 winters"

Chiron: "And where is your family or home."

Looking down I told them I didn't have any family or a home. That I was left in the wild when I could remember and I've been moving around from forest to forest in order to not be seen. Most of them had calmed down now and Chiron told them they could go back into the camp leaving just me and him standing next to the tree, standing next to him I noticed that my height was around 6ft2 and he wasn't much taller then me in his centaur form.

"Would you like to stay here?"

"What?"

"Would you like to stay and live here? Train like the others and help around I'm sure I can find some work for you to do."

"You know nothing about me yet you would let me stay here."

"Let's just say I have a good eye when seeing those with potential, and you seem to have a lot of it."

That must be because of the spirits gift they gave me, I'm gonna abuse the hell out of that gift and prepare myself for what's to come.

"I would love to stay here, actually I haven't asked your name yet."

"My names Chiron, it's nice to meet you Cody"

Chiron showed me around the camp, the arena, with its colosseum like structure, the obstacle course, cabins, lake, strawberry fields and the mess hall.

It wasn't long before a horn was blown that signalled the time for dinner. Making our way to the mess hall, Chiron gave me a seat next to him and he slipped back down into his wheelchair in order to eat at the table. One by one tables began to fill and campers exchanged glances between me and their group before talking in hushed voices.

Once everyone arrived, Chiron made an announcement, basically introducing me, saying that I would be staying here from now and that everyone should get along and help me to fit in. Looking around I could see some stares of curiosity and some with caution and wariness.

Chiron invited me to sleep in the big house, on the couch while we figured out my sleeping arrangements and surprisingly the couch was big enough.

THE NEXT DAY

Chiron invited me to join him in his archery lessons first thing in the morning with the Apollo demigods, asking me if I've had any experiences with weapons, he handed me a bow and a quiver full of arrows.

The bow he handed me wasn't small, holding it with the point on the ground it came up to my shoulder. It was more of a longbow however the wood was extremely hard and even I had trouble drawing it never mind the campers around us.

Positioning me in front of a target he directed me on how to aim and fire.

We spent about thirty minutes I'm on this before I realised he had moved me further down the range to moving targets and I was consecutively hitting bullseye after bullseye. Turning around, I saw the group of Apollo campers and Chiron looking at me in awe, they were just as stunned as I was with the speed of my learning abilities, in thirty minutes I already surpassed some of the campers that had been training for years.

Pushing me to see how far I could go we spent the entire day moving through obstacles, firing and learning how to fire quickly. After the day was up I could sprint through the whole obstacle course while shooting two targets simultaneously.

Chiron: "Well, that brings the day to an end, and I must ask again are you sure you haven't used a bow before."

"Yes I'm sure where would I even get one in the wild."

He just gave me a questioning gaze and we moved off to dinner.

Time skip:

It's been a few months now, and Chiron has already left to go and follow Percy and Grover at Yancy academy, he had actually contacted me this morning to come to yancy to help as Grover had smelt more then one monster there.

Which was weird because I could only remember their being the one monster posing as the algebra teacher, mrs dod or something, anyway Chiron wants to enrol me into the school as a student in classes as a way to help keep an eye on the other monster and Percy. I was really excited, this signalled the start of everything, I would also be meeting Percy and Grover today.

I had already met Annebeth but she was always in books or trying to plan everything so I kinda kept my distance from her, especially from the capture the flag games, didn't want to be used as bait to attract the hotheaded Clarisse. We had argued and fought out a couple of things and she wasn't the happiest about being put on her arse. However she was a great sparring partner to learn how to use a spear after I won against her in a duel and our relationship turned into more of rivals then hatred for each other. Guess all you need to earn her respect was to beat her up a couple of times.

Anyway. I was standing next to Argus (the one with eyes all over his body) as he showed me how I was going to be hiding my legs and horns while outside. They mustn't be real creative or imaginative when hiding satyr legs or something because I had the good ol large pair of jeans with crutches like Grover and shoes that acted like Chiron's chair and was larger on the inside, but I was given a ring that helped hide my horns on my head and my ears by using the mist to trick anyone that looked my way, something one of the Hephaestus and Hecate kids thought up for me. I also had a dagger strapped to my leg and a small collapsible bow hidden in my bag with enough arrows to turn a hellhounds head into a porcupine.

With my disguise in place I hobbled down the hill towards the car they had and made the trip towards Yancy.
