5 Chapter#4 Magic Rain

It was already around 8:30 am when Ingrid was walking through the corridors of the university. Exactly half an hour ago they had finished holding the welcome gala for the New Years. She was on her way to pick up the books for the morning section.

She was cut off from everyone since she had broken her cell phone the night before, so she didn't know if she would call her during the day or not. She had to wait until the afternoon to buy a new cell phone. She sighs she moves away from the small compartment assigned for her purposes, she walks with her head lowered, focused on her world, concentrating on the possible future. Something that she liked about that university when she gave the mini tour the day she enrolled was that there were vending machines on every corner. That had a plus point as not every day she would have enough money to buy a lunch in the cafeteria, not until she found a job that that would be the next ongoing assignment for the day.

With the schedule in hand she saw that she was playing algebra first class, so she had to head to the other end of campus to get there. She passes just in front of one of the machines and she hears wailing, well no, no wailing, rather curses at the poor machine. She fixes her gaze on the metal box and notices a frustrated blonde hair from side to side cursing everything she was in.

Without much drama he approached the machine and kicked hard in the side. She had gotten the hang of it since he was working for a while with those money stealers. After the blow there was the noise of the glass bottle reaching the drawer with the sound of the exchange coins.

"Wow, I had never returned that junk change, it's impressive." -said the bearer of blond hair with a smile- Diana, nice to meet her -extem her hand in greeting.

–Ingrid. -She would be looking in front of her, shaking the offered hand.

-Thanks for making Ingrid not screwed up tomorrow.

- There is no reason, between women we do not help, right?

-Well if you say so. -she laughs and looks at her watch-shit is late!

She says goodbye quickly giving Ingrid one of the soda bottles accompanied by a smile.

"Okay, that was weird." she - she laughs slightly, looking at the bottle - to war has been said.

After taking his classes in the morning, (for that day the only ones) went to the cafeteria, of the entire university that was the only place where he could not do the tour because it was closed. Upon arrival, he sits at one of the tables near the large window and takes out his notebook with a black ink pen. She fixes her gaze on something outside and begins to unleash her imagination. She runs her hair behind her ear a few times stopping to see the battered ends.

-I need a cut urgently ...

–I can recommend a super good place.

She raises her head and sets her gaze on the blonde girl from that morning or Diana as she had told him.

"Thanks, I'm new to the city and I don't know much about places."

–Then let me be your guide as payment for your great wisdom with the "steal bills." she-she laughs at her own joke.

–Of course, although it is not necessary to pay anything.

She closes her notebook and puts it back in her backpack. They start eating amid uproarious laughter from Diana and some "happy" grimaces from Ingrid. Lunchtime runs super fast and pleasant for them, leaving them by the bell that announced their stay at the facility for that day.

They both take their things and go out through the large metal fence that keeps the concrete colossus protected.

-What will you do now?

–I need to buy a phone, I broke mine.

"Hmm, okay, I can take you to where I bought mine, it's not very expensive so don't worry."

-OK...

Diana rang ingrid's arm and they walked together to the bus stop to go buy the new phone. Minutes later they were in front of one of the stores. AT&T Store was written in neon blue.

She looked at the squeaky sign, arching an eyebrow with a scowl on her lips. For some reason something told him that her pocket would mourn the loss, but if that ensured a few more years without having to buy a new mobile it would be worth it. Taking a deep breath she walks alongside her blonde companion and they pass through the glass doors. She carefully scans the entire store and walks slowly through all the display cases.

Her gaze falls on some rather large helmet earphones. They were black with red details and cat ears on the frame. According to the advertisement, they light up when you turn them on and change the colors according to the rhythm of the music. I don't even look at the price and take them, that would definitely go away with her without a second thought. She already with the helmets in hand she continues looking at everything that the store proposed. I look behind her and hear Diana trying on accessories for her phone, so I walk over to her to see what changed so much. She ended up being a cover for her Samsung.

– "That is adorable."-she picks up the phone with a pink teddy cover and bulging eyes.

– "No, that thing is scary." -She separates her with a finger the cover of her face- it seems that something exploded and left glitter in her wake.

-Don't be like that, it's very cute.

–"For a blind man perhaps."

After discussing whether or not the cover was leaving, in the end the pink furry beast would come out of the store. Before leaving she walked through the last showcases that she hadn't seen and she saw a phone that caught her attention, apparently it was the last of the brand in the showcase so she decided to call the clerk.

- Excuse me, how much for this phone.

–"That is not for sale due to a defect, but I can offer you another."

- The problem is that I need an urgent replacement and I don't have something more expensive, and this is similar to the one I had previously. (You've become a lying fence)

–Well, if you insist on buying the device, I warn you that returns will not be accepted if you have a fault with the system or something else.

-No problem.

The clerk nods, taking the cell phone out of the display case to go to the counter. She began typing the model's contract codes on the PC. It was a Blu Vivo xl. She took the contract out of one of the drawers along with the printed purchase taken a few moments ago and begins to fill in the blank boxes. She spreads the paper with a pen pointing to the spaces to sign and puts a stamp on the corner of the paper. She keeps the contract in her backpack and takes the cell phone, turning it on, accommodating all the data and applications.

"Can I get my old number back with this phone?"

"Sure, please tell me the number and we'll link it."

Once the process was finished, notifications began to arrive on your phone, apparently that morning. I pay for the cell phone next to the helmets, taking both 450USD. Storing the charger with the headphones that come in the package, take the cell phone again and the new headphones by putting them on your neck. She leaves smiling and goes to Diana.

–Let's see.

He holds out the phone and headphones with a satisfied face.

–You look at her, with new hearing aids and everything.

–You have to be comfortable. -Her stomach rumbles.

-You want to eat something? I think your guts are screaming for mercy.

-It looks like it is.

They go out together again and this time they stop at a cafe known to the brunette. She remembered going in there a few days ago. They go in and take one of the tables near the window at Ingrid's request and order something to drink.

"You know, I have to remove my curiosity." -Diana speaks- I think I've seen you elsewhere before but I'm not sure.

"Mmmm, no idea, although you look familiar too."

–Since you arrived, what places have you frequented.

"Well, I remember coming here one day and asked for a coconut pie if I remember correctly."

-I knew it!

-Sorry?

"You're the girl in black from Saturday."

She begins to remember the day and she opens her eyes comically at the memory of those blond hair.

"Are you the waitress that day?" she asked, pointing at her with a finger.

–That one, I already knew that asking for a coconut foot with a nostalgic face was not very common.

- Hehehehehehe, reminds me of good times.

"Well, if you don't mind I'd like to ask you a couple of things."

–Okay, shoot.

"Well, where are you from? What year do you attend? Do you have family around here? What specialty do you study? Where do you live? What ...

–Brake, you look like a machine gun. One at a time.

<< Well, you already know my name so it is not necessary to say it again. I am eighteen years old so logically I am in the first year. My specialty is graphic design and I have plans to take it to the fourth year to get a degree. How am I? I live in Portland but I moved because I was accepted to this university and I had no way to travel for an hour every day. (Shit I tell him about the family part) I'm alone and I met a friend here so I'm living with him at his house until I find an apartment. >>

"Fence, cool."

-Seriously?

–Yeah, I still depend on my grandmother so that's admirable.

Some time after finishing eating, they leave the place and say goodbye with a hug and a few smiles

-I hope to see you again soon Ingrid.

–No problem, how about we make an appointment to fix our hair, you said you knew a good place.

"Sure, good idea." -Jump in place- give me your number and later I will text you.

-Voucher.

Back at Tom's apartment it was 6:30 pm. He had to arrive and make sure to prepare something for dinner, if they were guided by him, they would eat pizza all their lives so he had to hurry. Upon arriving at the building the doorman greets and goes up to the fifth floor to enter the apartment. As soon as she steps into the entrance, a furry four-legged tornado greets her with licks and a squeaky toy.

–Hi precious, how was your hairball day? -stroke the head of the puppy in question.

The little boy gives a contented bark and follows her into the kitchen. He opens the new package of croquettes and fills her plate to the top. He begins cleaning the rest of the house and organizing Tom's mess. He goes to his room and starts doing his longest algebra homework before sitting down looking for possible jobs. The money wouldn't last forever so he had to find something quick to hold the line.

-I arrived!

Hearing the scream she goes outside and cannot help laughing like a madwoman. Tom was full of what looked like fruit puree, mud, and glitter. He had all his hair tousled and his face painted. After writhing on the floor like there is no tomorrow, he sets out to help him with his things and clean it up a bit.

-What happened? -Hold your laughter- It looks like a baby tornado passed over you.

-Something like that. she replies, sighing.

-Speak -she sits cross-legged on the couch.

–Today as you know is the first day of school everywhere, isn't it? Well, today was a new rush to kindergarten.

–Hard day then, right?

–Yes, a tornado here, a mischief there.

-You must love your work a lot to bear things like that.

–If I didn't love him, I wouldn't be doing it, don't you think?

–There you are wrong, work is not always pleasant, most people put up with it out of necessity.

–In my case, I do it because I love children.

-I already know that. How about you take a shower for dinner? I have everything ready, I made pizza, bread, and lasagna. he-she gets up from the couch and goes to the kitchen to warm up.

-I want...

–Pizza, I know, I made it with double cheese, do you like it that way?

–That is not asked, cheese is my true love. -Pose her dramatic.

"Okay, you stink of mash so run."

At the end of dinner with a couple of laughs and the occasional beer, the two of them wash the dishes and organize the place. Tom was hit with the broom as he did not want to cooperate and also earned a bite from Kuro on his leg. Finally they said goodbye and went to their respective rooms to rest. Ingrid takes her new headphones and puts a little of everything at full volume. A smile crosses her face and with her eyes closed she hummed the melodies. She opens her brown orbs and directs her gaze to an empty white wall to her left. She imagined a beautiful nightscape with the lights of the city illuminating everyone as she passed, with a shower of stars grating the sky and why not, a hugging couple watching the show.

-Some day I will be able to have that peace that I want to draw so much, one day ...

{A young couple was sitting on the lawn in their yard with a little girl with brown hair and brown eyes. The three of them looked together at the sky and enjoyed a shower of asteroids>

–Mama, what are those things in heaven?

- These are called comets or precious asteroids. -She says, combing the girl's hair gently.

"And can I have one, Mom?"

–Of course, you just have to stare at the one you want and keep it in your mind, so you will always have it with you.

<The little family huddled together and finished seeing the "magic rain" in the sky}
