Out of the Hot Water and Debts.

Kaden calmly made his way to the stage and took the podium. He just focused on the group of kids he knew and said what he felt like saying.

"Hello everybody, First off I'm not sure what Miss Rockefeller is talking about. I'm too young to think such things. I'm new to this environment and quite frankly awestruck and at the same time, a tad bit scared. Well, terrified would be a better word. Magic was something in a fantasy book or movie with cool special effects. I'm just a kid who grew up in downtown Chicago and never knew anything about this other world we all find ourselves in. As for Team Leaders and other things, I am at a loss. I have no clue about any of that stuff. I just want to say that I'm sure all the new students are excited to start learning here. I hope to get along with everybody here. Thank you for your time" Kaden finished his impromptu speech as fast as he could.

Kaden promptly made his way back to his seat doing his best to ignore the looks he was receiving from everybody including Jessica. He knew he had to deal with her sooner or later but for now, he decided to put it off till they were in a more private location.

Kaden figured she would call him to her office before long anyway. From her stony disposition, he gathered she was just as against them becoming a couple as much as he was. Jessica was, of course, drop-dead gorgeous. Any man would be lucky to have her but Kaden hated being kept in the dark. Hated it even more, when others push their wills on him.

Miss Vice Dean quickly moved on with the program calling forth each of the team leaders of the different classes. Kaden tuned them out. He was deep in thought. On the matter of. If he ever met a girl named Jessica before. Her silver platinum hair was something he was sure he would never forget. The problem was he did not recall ever meeting a girl with that color of hair.

Jessica was the name of one of Kaden's childhood friends. She had left the neighborhood when he was just six years old. He was two months older than her. Jessica's father was a fellow doctor that worked at the same hospital as his dad.

"If it's her then how the hell did she grow up so fast? Why is her hair a different color? Even her eyes have changed color since she was six. It's too weird seems like I'm going to have to torture this lazy cat." Kaden pondered to himself. Beelzebub jumped off Kaden's head and disappeared instantly.

"Hmph, figure you run, but no worries I know how to bait you. Mwah-ha" Kaden said out loud with an eerie laugh. His team member could not help but think he was losing it. They all pick up on that he was clueless in regards to being the team captain. Kaden almost fell out of his seat when he heard the word fianceé next to his own name.

Hinata felt like she just lost her favorite cinnamon bun when she heard the vice dean make her speech. It was like she had entered a twilight zone. The only saving grace was that Kaden seemed oblivious to his current situation. Hinata had enough self-confidence in herself to fight for what she wanted. Currently, Hinata's eyes blazed with battle intent as she stared at her busty silver-haired rival.

Ash could not help but burst into laughter when she saw Kaden almost fall from his chair. It was such a great day for her. The boys in their group seem to have a hint of jealousy. Followed by pity when they watch the whole thing play out. A hint of pride was also there.

The boys were proud that their team leader could rope in such a fox. Kaden being the Vice Dean's fianceé solidified his position as team captain in their hearts. A small spark of worship unknowingly had taken root in the three boys. A sentiment shared with most of the freshmen boys gathered there that day. Just that, who they worship was different.

Thankfully Anton was the last speaker of the day. He was the Team Captain of the Senior class. The leader of the school's main fighting force. He was kind enough to help tone down the resentment felt by the student male body. Those currently hating Kaden.

"I can't believe it's my final year here. I'm thankful to the Rockefeller Board of Directors for sponsoring my time here. As many of you know. This place is just downright expensive. Over half of us here could not attend without groups like the Rockefellers here for support." Anton said with a brief pause. He wanted the students to remember who was the boss of the school. So they would not do anything to upset that said boss.

"This will be my fourth year as team captain of my class. It was a hard thing to achieve. Competition to join the elite classes is always at an all-time high. Even if you're lacking in talent, plenty of hard-working people find a place in our ranks. Talent means little if someone who is hard working overcomes you. Remember this place cares for only two things. Money and power. Money to trade for the services our school provided. The strength an individual achieves. That is the only measure of power the school will grade you on. Your grades will be ranked. That rank is how you can become an elite. If you feel you're better than a higher rank peer then challenge them. It's the fastest way to gain rank. To overcome us, captains. You not only need a high rank, power, and money. You also need to defeat us, in one on one duels. In our school's history, no caption has ever lost their post to a challenger. I'm sure my fellow team captains will also strive to maintain that record our school is known for." Anton added.

Anton reminded the upperclassmen of the gap between the school's chosen captains and other elites. As for the freshmen who want to find trouble. Well, they would just have to learn the hard way. It was just how it was. The upper echelon of the school had a deadly eye for talent. Every captain selected by the board of directors were monsters in their own right. He also wanted to warn his under captains that should they lose they would be a stain on the school history. Forever be remembered as that one loser.

"I can't make any promises about this year's championship. But I vow to do my best to help foster a team that will do Edensburg proud. Tryouts for the School Main Fighting Team are going to be held this Saturday and all team Captains are required to be there." Anton stated before returning to his seat.

Beelzebub magically popped in front of the podium in his human form and with a bow. "This ends this year's School Opening, Remember to grab your School handbook on the way out. I hope you all have gathered enough funds for this school year. Those who are worried can stop by and make an appointment with the school finance group. Well till next meeting, Ta Ta for now" Beelzebub said then poofed just as fast off the stage.

The staff quickly stood up and started calling out orders. Before long it was Kaden's group's turn to exit the building. As Kaden stood up he felt Bee rub himself against his leg. Bee then hopped on top of Kaden's head. As for the blank stares he received from his classmates he could only shrug his shoulders in defeat.

The Freshmen handbook Kaden received at the exit was as thick as most course textbooks. Kaden was excited at the prospects of light reading. To which the boys on his team called him a freak. Ash and Hinata only giggled at the boys' flustered faces. They quickly were walking to the cafeteria for some food. They had missed out earlier because of Jet.

Jessica knew that Beelzebub would attach himself to Kaden. She had a good idea where his group was going too. She figured she would wait until they finished eating. It would save her some of her salary money. If she did not have to pay for the cat's dinner today. It would also make it harder for him to escape her grasp. A fat cat was a slow cat in her opinion.

Kaden was utterly shocked at the prices of food in the cafeteria. He was even more shocked by the sign that hung on top of the cafeteria door. It read 'Prices are not negotiable. If you don't like it or can't afford it. Then go out in the woods and hunt for your food.'

Everything in Edensburg costs money. Every month they were expected to pay for their dorms. Books, supplies, and classes all cost money. The student handbook that they had just received cost Kaden a whopping hundred credits with the discount he paid 25 credits. The crystal card his father gave him had only five thousand credits on it.

From a quick skim of the handbook, Kaden found out that his father had given him just enough money for the month. Every month he would receive five thousand universal credits. A normal student that followed the handbook recommended courses to study and food plan would have to spend a monthly cost of 19,500 units.

Kaden would be having to spend 4,875 credits each month. Leaving him with some spending change. The best he could gather was one credit was a little over two US Dollars. The school was just too expensive. He did not see how normal families could afford it.

"Guys, how can anybody afford this place," Kaden asked his group of friends. "Well, my dad told me he secured me a job with a masonry company called Stone and Sons. The crystal card they gave me has a monthly budget of 25,000 on it. Dad was 90% sure I could make it into the Elite class. I'm glad I don't need all that now. I have a lot less to pay back later." Bisma said with a grin.

"Same but my family owns the company backing me. I have about the same amount for my allowance. But now I'll just send back the funds I don't use. I don't want to work for them for the rest of my life." Tom said.

"My mother and father said that my summoning strength was strong enough to join the elite class so they could afford my stay. They gave me an 8,000 a month budget," Jason said in his thick accent "Same" Ash and Hinata said.

"Mom and Dad had no clue what Edensburg was. If not for the school staff coming to arrange everything. I will still be going to a public high school. They did some tests on me and offered me a scholarship through the Rockefeller Foundation. I have to submit an expenditure report every month to the finance department. Any spending I do that gets denied I have to pay back after I graduate. Or work it off for the Foundation." Bruce added.

"The vice dean's last name is Rockefeller too" Jason pointed out. "Hmm, Let's not talk about that. But it seems like my parents knew I'd make it into the Elite class as well. Out of our group I have the smallest budget to play with." Kaden said as he showed the amount of money he had on his card to his new friends.

"Haha, Looks like you're going to be broke this month then. I just saw your cat order over 150 units worth of food." Ash laughs at her new friend's expense.

"Kaden you don't have to worry about that cat's meal, I'll pay for it," Hinata said with a determined look as she headed to the cashier.

"Why does the Dean of the school even have to pay for his meal, to begin with?" Bisma asked with a grin. It was not a question he needed an answer for.
