Not too late

An old man interrupted me when I was about to kill the hero.

He is strong. I understood as soon as I saw him. To begin with he got really close to me before I even noticed it. His skills with the sword are absolutely amazing. The energy between him is also amazing, he must be a hero too.

He knows perfectly well how to fight even if the enemy is stronger. He is a worthy opponent. As the fight intensifies I am getting more a more excited.

The hero is being healed by the heroine on the side. I sent my demons to hinder them. Meanwhile other demons will surround this entire place. I plan to kill all these three.

The most difficult part of this is the heroine's power. She is able to take them away and I can't do anything against it. She may not be able to take this other hero though. I would like to have all three of them but in the best case I will have to do with just one of them.

The hero now completely healed got up in his feet. The heroine continues her attacks now more fiercely while explaining the situation to him.

Now both of them are coming to me.

Fighting three opponents of their level would be pretty hard but the thing I cannot allow is for the three of them to reunite and escape. No at least one must die.

The hero seemed shaken by something but nonetheless he keeps fighting with his all. The heroine fights with her usual determination... No maybe even more since all this death soldiers seems to give her even more determination. The older hero is fighting with even more determination yet I can sense some inner worries in him. Even so those worries aren't affecting his fighting skills at all. This old hero has much more experience fighting.

The fight kept going for a while without much progress on either side. My demons were trying hard to suppress the heroes attacking me. The heroes and I keep switching between defence and attack. Meanwhile the sun was setting on the horizon.

The situation was heading nicely. The remaining human army has been reorganizing in this place. Unfortunately many soldiers survived at the other places and as soon as the news of the heroes being here arrived they came here fast.

Thanks to moving my demons to surround the heroes we were able to grasp nice defending positions against the reorganizing human army which is still huge. Doing it actually uses most of my demons so I got fewer to fight the heroes and that's why the situation developed into a stalemate.

Being too aggressive would lead two heroes to escape while being too lenient could lead for the three to get together and escape. It all is so hard...

But now that the light was decreasing our chances has finally arrived.

It was a sudden thing. Even with all of his experience he didn't notice when and how it happened. I am no longer in from of the old hero but the heroine.

I figured with her only once before hand to hand. She didn't seem bad but surely she was all that great compared to the other two heroes. What I mean is that she is the weaker against a surprise melee attack.

She was able to notice the sudden change of situation. I think she is able to sense the magic energy. The hero also noticed a change but he seems still a bit confused about what happened.

The heroine on the other hand had already grasped my position. She gathers as much magic as she can and throws it at me. It is the old good spikes that sprout out of the ground and try to hit me while I run. All of them fail to get me. As a last resort some grow all around her. It is all useless.

I thrust my sword at her leg. The sword easily slides right through her skin deep into her flesh. The heroine screams in pain as she falls to the ground. Still at this point she gathers magic on her hands. There as she lies on the ground she looks at me with a pained expression but the same determination in her eyes. She tries to get me with earth stakes but to no avail. As I finally perform the killing strike a sword blocks my attack.

I avoid the sword that flies at my side. As I turn to look the hero is there. He has thrown his sword to stop me and now is running while taking a short sword.

Has he just now thrown his main weapon to save the heroine? Not only is it inefficient but useless too. This has just taken a bit of my time and killing the heroine would be no problem at all. Why? He isn't so inexperienced to not understand this. Why is he trying so hard to save the life of the heroine? Even the heroine didn't risk that much I think. Is it because they are truly valuable?

I was still a bit shocked by the hero's action when a magic attack almost hit me. The heroine still on the ground successfully gets me to retreat a little. She is also healing herself.

I instantly understood my mistake. I shouldn't have done that. Anyways I don't think too much about it as I attack her once more. This time just magic. Since she can move the attack is successful. It wouldn't kill her but will keep her pinned there for a while more... enough to kill the hero.

I give a quick glance at the older hero. My demons are barely keeping him in place. If I don't finish this fast things can get pretty bad. I run to attack the hero with my sword still on my hands. He is seriously on a disadvantage here. His short sword will be of almost no use against mine long sword. I have more reach and each attack carry more weight. Furthermore I am stronger and faster than he is so trying to make fast and precise attacks will not work for him.

Nevertheless he meets my first strike quite well. He fights with everything he's got. He is also checking the heroine's situation when he can. Boy you should worry about you more.

It didn't take long for a strike to get through his defence leaving an injury behind. It isn't serious but it will not be the last.

And sure enough more and more cuts appear all around his body. I am attacking almost with the same fury of hell. After a while his short sword is broken. That wasn't what I expected but is not bad. He got no way to defend himself now.

I strike his chest and leave a mortal wound. He will die soon enough. As I see his fall I turn around to strike at the coming enemy. His eyes filled with fury. Hell has arrived.
