Lies

I summoned strong demons from the door using all the energy I had. The area we have to defend is smaller and I have to fill it with the best I have. I had always been overwhelmed by their numbers. Previously I summoned some weak demons just to fill the defence line and to make our numbers look greater.

Right now I need a force strong enough to stop the heroes and the human army. Large number of weak demons would only end up amassed and killed one by one. I need strong demons capable of defending their positions well and killing many humans alone not with the help of number we don't have.

We are trap in here. Well we may be able to break through their lines but such an action would be useless for us. We have to defend this dungeon and the dungeon doesn't move. At least we don't need water of food. All we need is the door open and energy to call reinforcements. I guess no fort would be able to get reinforcements like we do.

Fortunately for us the humans need food and water. There's no source of food for miles while there's water I wouldn't say it is safe to drink from it since my demons threw all kind of stuff inside. Some magicians are able to purify the water but it requires energy so they do it in moderation to keep enough for battle. All human supplies are coming through very large supply lines from different directions. My demons destroyed every road and the terrain isn't all that nice now so the supplies are slow.

This is our advantage. We can strike those supply lines and starve the enemy outside the walls. Unfortunately there aren't many demons outside. The supply lines are guarded. They aren't too many and my demons outside can deal with the guards but of only one supply line while there are four. After one attack the humans will soon notice and reinforce the other lines plus they will hunt down my demons outside.

Sending more demons outside is out of the question. It is hard since we are besieged and it's dangerous since we need every demon we have to defend this place. Anyway my advisor is working on a method to get demons outside. We may need some outside anyways. Being prepared is always good.

Time pass slowly. I keep making plans and thinking on ways to survive through rest of the night. At dawn a new battle will begin.

At dawn the human army once again stands all around the walls ready for an assault. This time the heroes are in the formation. They are at the forefront facing the place where I am.

After returning from the dungeon I went around the entire wall to look at the situation. After that I settled on the place closer to the heroes to look out for any offensive.

They intend to break through the wall using their huge strength. It also seems to me like this place is where there are more human soldiers. To put it shortly this before me is the main human force. Here the battle will be harder. Here I must stay.

I'm not so confident in stopping this offensive. Seven heroes at one place is something to be afraid of. I more or less understood how the humans make this kind of battle with our previous battles but the heroes' battle will surely be different. I can't say for sure if the wall will even serve as an advantage against them. They might be able to destroy it easily. They must probably can! How can I stop them? Am I ready for this?

Too late to think about it now. It's now battle time. Time for doubts has passed now we fight. Someone will die and one will survive.

A little time after dawn the assault begins. I can see thanks to my demons that the human army is advancing through all sides. These final moments before the fight pass by so slow. Everyone on either side is getting ready for the battle. Energy is being gathered all around. Everyone is aiming ahead.

The battle begins with magic attacks. There are even more attacks than yesterday and this is just the beginning. The heroes are still a little behind. Buy they are getting ready for an offensive.

I'm waiting for the heroes' move. If we were facing just the humans I may have join the battle already but the heroes are capable of turning the tides of the battle. They are a force that can break through me demons. It seems like I alone am able to stop them. I have to look out for any movement they do that could decide the result of this battle.

All the magic around is making my task harder. Feeling the energy the heroes manipulate isn't easy from this far yet it is essential to understand when they will attack.

'Sir there's an abnormal advance at the north side.'

'How is it?'

'We are being suppressed by the enemies' magic attacks. Our magic attacks are almost a third less than other sides. With little response on our side their advance is faster. Reinforcements may be needed.'

'Send one reinforcement squadron and report any change on the battle.'

'Yes sir.'

I prepared some squadrons as reserve to reinforce positions if something did happen. While I thought it could happen everywhere I hoped it would be here where the main force is. I hope this doesn't happen on other places too. That may be some elite force or people like the old man of yesterday. Speaking of which I don't see him now. This can be more serious than expected.

'Prepare another two squadrons to be ready to move there eventually.'

'Yes sir.'

The heroes move as soon as I said so. They may be aware of what is happening in the northern side.

'Prepare the last squadron too. No direction.'

'Yes sir.'

Something is not right. I know the heroes can be pretty bad to deal with. Their powers are not just powerful but also annoyingly useful and unpredictable. It's hard to know what they will do.

The heroes move forward and attack. Their attacks are strong but to be fair I expected more. Are they probing us or are they not serious? How can the protectors of humanity be not serious with this?

Something is not right at all. I move backwards and look around. Everything is as I predicted. The fight is ongoing as I thought. We deal much damage but not enough to stop the human advance despite the fact that as they come closer the fight becomes harder for them. But the heroes are not doing anything so predictable. They are making some small attacks in comparison with their true power. Yesterday they were much bolder though the situation was much more desperate for them. Do they want to take this slowly? Most likely not the case. They are thinking some attack and my inability to know what kind is killing me.

Trying to force the battle in a direction I move forward and attack the heroes with a powerful magic. I want to engage the heroes to limit their possibilities and have the development of the battle on my hands. But this isn't right. Nothing is.

The magic lands just where I aimed but no one is there.
