Last offensive

The lighting made a lot of damage. The humans cheered aloud. The heroes' eyes brightened. In front of the human army now stand five people with an incredible amount of energy.

In the middle stands a woman with a spear raised pointing the sky behind us. She is gathering magic on the tip of the spear. Is she the one responsible for that lighting?

As if to answer me lighting spreads from the tip of the spear and hits many demons along its way. The lighting hit demons all the way to the hill. Its power is strong and the area of effect is wide.

The other four at her side are ready for battle too. The one further to the left gathers magic on her staff and strikes the demons with hundreds of ice stakes. On the right a young man raises his staff and the magic spreads across the battlefield healing the injured and revitalising the others. Afterwards the young woman and the two young men at her side rush forward dealing killing blows to all the demons on their path.

This has become a really bad situation. The demons are mostly busy fighting the human army or the heroes. When I chose to go all out and attack the heroes I had to use every demon I had. Well some demons are still behind defending the walls but they are just a few. Furthermore showing no defence on the walls could lead to a human offensive on other parts though I doubt that. Anyways I got no reinforcements to bring here now. The heroes are still alive. The old hero is the most vulnerable but the attack just now has knocked out the demons who were surrounding him leaving him alone.

The heroes on this side are still surrounded. Should I try to finish them off or go to the old hero?

The old hero is closer to those heroes and on their view. They know he's there and will defend him. Instead they may don't know about heroes here. Well that is most likely not the case. They probably can't tell their exact location. After all I am quite sure they can feel the energy quite well.

Killing the heroes here may just be the best choice. There's always a risk. One can run away from it. I will have to take the one that will probably work better for me. Or so I hope.

At the same time I have to order a retreat. Fighting out here any longer is madness. This is no longer my offensive. Oh hell. Nothing is easy. Nothing, anywhere, anytime.

I raise my sword and head for the heroine. She has taken a lot of damage and while trying to heal the other two she has also exhausted herself a bit. All these accumulated and now she is the weaker.

Right now she is struggling to defend herself against the demons surrounding her. They keep attacking her not stop. She, who is now weakened, has no strength left to attack back at them so she keeps defending. Seems I was right to choose her. Though she may be hiding some strength back.

I order some demons to move as I charge at the heroine. The heroine notices my approach and quickly sends a signal to the hero. He has also noticed about it and then tries to get through the demons who are between then.

The heroine begins a series of attacks aimed to take time. She has understood that fighting against me and trying to win is impossible. Instead now she is trying to defend against my attacks. It isn't like she hasn't tried before but now she is starting with a clear mindset on it. Well I expect this to be harder anyway.

Many earth magic reshapes the ground around her making it hard to approach. At the same time she is also throwing earth attacks around especially in my direction to hinder our approach. Even so the demons are doing a good job in their attack. They aren't allowing her much time to act.

As I get closer I break through her defences lay around her. It is not so easy. She had little time to prepare all her defences against me yet she did a good job too. Well she already had some defences in place to take care of the demons but since her goal was to regroup with the hero there weren't many to keep her ground.

Before starting with my attack I glance at the hero's side. He has successfully broken through. I suppose he is more aggressive now. He is giving all he has since he knows help is coming for them.

This may help though.

I slash the last defences with my sword. The heroine then moves away while attacking me with thousands of ice stakes. I follow her. She is smart

The heroine landed a few distance away after having jumped with the help of magic. The demons keep attacking her but she is repelling every single attack and demon. Now the heroes are closer. I run to the heroine while unleashing magic attacks against her.

My attacks are brutal and deal a lot of damage to her. She tried to defend but my magic was too overwhelming. But she isn't down yet. She keeps making defences while now doing some side attacks to ease the hero's advance.

On the distance I hear the sound of the battle against the five heroes. They are coming closer.

I jump and with the help of magic manage to get close to the heroine really fast. She didn't expect that. Strange.

I strike with deathly strength. She move to avoid but ultimately fails to completely do it. She blocks my sword that would have hit her shoulder with her short sword successfully redirecting the blow. Meanwhile she has gathered magic and is moving to the side. She wants to get distance again. That will not happen. I make a wall I her way. It isn't enough to stop her though.

She crushes the wall while moving with magic as I predicted. Taking advantage of the time it took to crush the wall I am already close enough to strike again. This time she is hit on her side. The blow unfortunately hit on her armour but was strong enough to make some damage not the least. She is blow away to the side away from her aim. I follow once more.

The sounds of the battle against the five heroes keep getting closer. Looking around I notice the hero is very close.

The heroine is already on her feet when I look back at her. She is making defences all around once more. I think this is becoming repetitive as a pattern but it is undoubtedly effective. Well she is successfully gaining time. If this keeps going it would take too long to kill her. I order the demons to change their attacks. This time I must bring her down for sure.

I rush to her position crushing every single defence on my path. She is throwing tons of attacks at me but I just ignore them.

She gathers magic on top of her staff. She doesn't normally do it since it takes longer. The staff stars to brighten up as a result. I keep coming closer.

The heroine seeing me almost ready to strike unleashes a pure magic attack. A pure magic attack takes less time to do but is also much weaker. The staff has amplified the attack somewhat but it is still not strong enough to damage me though. Why?

I ignore the attack that pass through me and strike once more. The heroine defends with her staff but unable to stand the blow is push back. The demons behind unleash magic attacks at her from every direction. I step forward to strike once more. The heroine struggles to remain on her feet.

But as I was about to strike a blade come from the side. I felt it a little late.

I barely block the blade with mine but I am push back a little. The hero stands there. He is injured on many parts. I wonder how he is even standing. Are humans with so much energy that resistant? Well I thought they were harder to kill but this is a little beyond my imagination.

I couldn't sense the hero approach. He had successfully made a sneak attack on my. Now that I think of it my senses must have been a bit shaken by the heroine's attacks. The last attack was especially made to numb my magic perception. Truly magnificent!
