Fat chance

Suddenly I felt a huge tremor. I stop immediately and carefully look around to understand what happened.

As I look I noticed that the demon in front of me is still clam and composed. He must have done it.

A huge rampart does now divide me and the subjugation army. The demon must want to fight me alone. I would have him understand how difficult that is.

Unexpectedly he isn't making a move yet. Does he have any other traps? This can become quite annoying.

Killing those other demons wasn't that difficult and will not be even now. But even so I will be annoying if they get on my way. I want to kill that strong looking demon and destroy the doors. That way... only so I can prove my father I'm worthy of being a hero. I hope you are looking this father because now I am going to prove that I am the strongest! Stronger than my deceased brothers! Stronger than you!

Now it's my time to shine and all you demons will die for it.

I can feel my power increasing with my determination.

The demons are surrounding me but they keep quite the distance. They will block the army from helping me out and me from escaping. Unfortunately for them I do not need any of those. I will charge right at their leader!

"What are you waiting for? Didn't you say the army would be unnecessary?"

"Demon I am stronger than all of them. I am stronger than all of you! You will die when I want you to!"

I have trained all my life to become strong, to become the strongest. It was hard but I made it. I have become strong and soon I shall be the strongest.

"You will die by my hand demon."

"We shall see."

This arrogant demon is the strongest of them all. Once he falls all the rest should be easy enough.

I look at my enemy as I approach. Even now that I could just dash at him whenever I wanted to attack he doesn't take out his sword. He simply has a hand on its handle. Well he may have a strong defense with that body of him. His skin seems to be made out of rock. Even so he is weak at his joints. His joints are pretty normal and would certainly be easy to cut. Still... I would really have preferred to have some kind of mace. Hitting his hard skin with my blade would feel bad.

"Do you not wish to fight anymore?"

"As if! I will kill you now!"

I will shut up this insolent and prove myself as the strongest!

The hero is finally coming for me. He was taking his time analyzing me. Well I did the same but if this battle does not end soon it could become problematic. I don't think taking a bit more of time would be problematic since my spies are keeping me well informed on the enemy movements but it is better to be ready for the worse. Just like in hell.

This hero is naive but not really all that much of an idiot. He seems to be quite capable. He has trained a lot and poses much experience yet much of it is from fighting against weaker opponents. He's quite determined but too aggressive. Right now he didn't consider the difference of our powers. We demons are different from humans. Our powers may seems similar but we simply posses one of another kind. Furthermore you can't really say we do not know how to fight.

He is blinded by his power and his own ambition. He thinks to have become strong enough to defeat us without help. He probably wants to prove himself right but deep inside he knows he can't. That is why he hesitates. I must defeat him before he realizes his own weaknesses. But I think it will be alright. He is too blind right now.

My troops are already in position. He is quite aggressive so I thought we would have to fight him without properly surrounding him but he stopped for a while leaving us enough time to deploy. Now come to me hero and meet your demise.

I just want to fight you but that would have to wait a little for you shall fight my demons first!

The hero charges with new determination. Unfortunately for him he is heading straight into my trap.

So perfect.

I unsheathe my sword but I don't take any defensive stance. I will not meet any of his attacks now anyway.

"What?"

The hero has been blocked by a demon. Just now he must be surprised why my demon was able to stop him. He really looks down on us a little too much.

"You coward! I shall kill all of you!"

"Try"

Six demons surround him from all sides. They are quite good at fighting alone so I was worried about a group fight but they are doing alright. They are coordinating quite well their attacks. They attack his blind spots while defending from his powerful attacks. One demon alone may not be enough to defend against a strong enemy like him but two or more are furthermore with six they are even capable of counterattacks. But if this keeps going this slow it would lead to nothing. It's time for it.

I signal my demons to start the second phase. Right now we have the hero in our grasp. Four other demons approach the hero busily fighting the six demons. They stop at a distance from the fight and prepare to launch their attack. They are quick with their movements and attacks so it doesn't take long. With perfect synchronization the four of them launch fire attacks at the hero. Yes our demons are in the way of the attacks as well but they have a much higher resistance to fire than the hero.

They keep doing it without rest. They are also very quick at it. And so gradually the hero weakens.

Looks like this will not take much longer.

As a precaution other twelve demons are on standby. Some of them have actually changed place with the six fighting the hero. Meanwhile the battle against the humans in the front has already begun. I thought this battle outside our walls would be pretty bad for us but it's going well. Those magicians are not really that bad for us. They got rid of the rampart on certain points by leveling the ground but since it took a huge amount of energy from them those points are really limited. For the most part they are buffing the frontline fighters and launching magic attacks. Those magic attacks are things like fireballs or ice spikes or wind swords... pretty much fantasy. Well they mostly attack with fire ones but it is much ineffective against demons so they have been switching to others. Well of course hundreds of fire attacks were effective before against lone demons but now they can focus just on one in the middle of the battle.

They must have fought against my demons on their way here but now against my well organized demons they can't put much of a fight.

I must say everything is going better than expected. The hero is going down quite fast too. I will have to go and finish him off now or my demons will end up killing him. I can't just stay here and do nothing!

But then just as I took a step forward a huge explosion stop all fighting.
