2 Chapter Two

Daniel left his house and walked over to the main training hall with a brisk pace, the patriarch was about to give a speech to the newly turned sixteen year olds of the family and branch families. Daniel was lucky as his birthday landed on the same day that the newly turned adults would be allowed to enter Eden, the family would give out a sort of starter pack to help them get a start in the garden.

Once Daniel entered the hall he took a seat near the back of the hall and waited for everyone to fill in and take their seats also. It took about twenty minutes for everyone to settle down, then the patriarch and some family elders took to the stage and the hall fell silent.

The patriarch then went on to drone on and on for a while about how this is a massive opportunity for all of them and how they must rise to the occasion and take a firm step up to the plane of Eden. Once he finished his long boring speech, he left the stage and everyone clapped, the whole hall then stood and left the room. On the way out they passed through a long corridor lined with weapons and rucksacks. Daniel grabbed a rucksack filled with provisions, a B-Class short sword, a B-Class dagger, an 11.0 recurve bow and a quiver of B-Class arrows.

He was only allowed B-Class equipment due to his mother's high standing but the patriarch's direct descendants would get A-class or even S-Class equipment if they wanted it. The lower levelled people wouldn't even get B-Class and be stuck with lower grade equipment instead. This didn't really matter tho as once they obtained a beast gear most of their weapons would become obsolete.

Daniel quickly made his way to the Vortex Manipulators in the main plaza, he didn't really have any friends so he would more than likely hunt alone. Although this was not recommended as it was far more dangerous to hunt alone, Daniel didn't really care as he would hunt the first few creatures from a distance anyway with his bow.

He headed into the registration building, got his new hunter's ID and headed straight out to the teleport station, Daniel stepped onto the Vortex Manipulator, closed his eyes and held his breath.

Once he opened his eyes again he was met with a breath taking scene, he was surrounded by the hustle and bustle of what seemed like a medieval city. He of course knew that it wasn't a medieval city, it was in fact a shelter. Shelters were like safe zones scattered around the whole of Eden, placed there to keep it's inhabitants safe. The creatures of Eden would mostly steer clear of the shelters, they would only go near on rare occasions like if someone stole there egg or if they weren't quick to forget a grudge.

Daniel was gaping in awe at the scenery as he walked down the street, there were stalls set up everywhere selling meat and beast gears. Even the cheapest beast gears would cost more than a house, at least the useful ones anyway. You could buy useless ones really cheap from near enough anyone, but no one really did this as there wasn't much use for any of them.

Daniel headed for the large open gate he saw at the end of the main street, once outside he saw plenty of people decked out in beast gear armour and carrying weird and wonderful weapons. He asked around and found that he was in the Seashell Shelter owned by the seashell party, they were a party made up of the strongest individuals of the shelter so they were in charge. If you brought back meat to be sold you had to pay tax on it, beast gears however were not taxed unless you bought them directly from the seashell trading hall in the centre of the shelter.

Now that he knew where he was, Daniel pulled out his map to see what kind of creatures were in the area. The map he had wasn't complete but it was as up to date as possible, the gardens were supposedly endless so it was almost impossible to map them. Many experienced cartographers would however sell maps which they create at a high price.

There was a forest nearby which was great for beginners so Daniel headed over there. The forest was mainly populated with common creatures like the Basic Slimey Toad or the Basic Drillpecker, there were a few species above basic level but they were frequently hunted so it was quite safe.

Once he arrived Daniel carefully walked through the forest, the map told of a swamp in the east of the forest where the Slimy Toad and Drillpecker lived side by side so he headed towards it. As soon as he approached the swamp the sound of croaking and pecking simultaneously entered his ears, he immediately crouched into a nearby bush and drew his bow.

He scanned the surrounding area silently for a moment before locating the prey he was looking for. He notched an arrow to his bow and aimed at a bird which was fighting with a toad, the bird was winning the battle so Daniel decided to take care of it first. He let his arrow fly and it quickly pinned the bird to a tree through it's neck, it hadn't even let out a squeal before another arrow pinned the toad to the ground through it's eye socket.

Daniel looked at the information appearing in front of him with a smile on his face but it quickly turned to a look of confusion when another screen popped up. The first screen was blue and was quite commonly scene in Eden, the other screen however had a purplish hue surrounding it and said weird words which is what confused Daniel.

[System booting up....Boot up complete....Welcome to the Eden System, Hello Host. What should I call you?]

The screen startled Daniel for a minute, however he quickly regained his composure and spoke his name. "Daniel...You can call me Daniel" he managed to stammer. The screen then changed itself and the system spoke again.

[Hello Daniel, you have successfully integrated with the Eden System. From now until you pass me on, I will be integrated with you]

"What is it that you do exactly?" Daniel asked, still sceptical as to whether or not he was hallucinating right now.

[The Eden System allow the Host to strive to become the strongest being in all of the gardens, I have multiple functions but due to you being a NON EVOLVER most system functions and knowledge have been restricted. The only remaining functions are the System Shop, Inventory and Knowledge Printer]

Daniel sat on the ground in awe for a few minutes before he was jolted out of his stupor by the call of a bird. Daniel stood up, grabbed his two kills and headed towards the shelter. Because he was assigned to this shelter he would get a free room for him to rest and store his belongings in so he headed over to the lodging section and checked out a room. He headed up to his room, opened the door, dumped the two dead animals on the table and sat on the bed.
