4 Chapter Four

[Stage 4 creature slain : Emerald Eagle

Beast gear : Gained

Eat the meat to gain Evo points]

Daniel was ecstatic with the gaining of the beast gear but he quickly reigned in his emotions, exchanged the body of the beast for 200 credits and fled the area. The beast had came from the north so he headed towards the east, back the way he came.

The creature was obviously hunted by someone else meaning he had stolen the kill and the meat, whoever it belonged to would not be happy once they found it gone. Daniel quickly headed out of the forest and into the seashell shelter, with his sharp increase in Evo points he had gained a lot of speed so he was now at least twice as fast as before. He had never experienced such speed before, it gave him an almost overwhelming feeling of happiness as he engaged one of his footwork techniques to make himself burst forward with explosive speed.

He quickly arrived at the Seashell shelter and slowed down to a walk, he mixed into the flowing crowd and headed towards his private room. It was already dark but the streets were still bustling with people as they bought and sold goods or prepared to set off to hunt. Daniel walked with a brisk pace towards his room door, he opened it, quickly closed it behind him, and finally let out a long sigh of relief.

He finally had a chance to let out his emotions, he quickly jumped onto the bed in a fit of giggles like some kind of twelve year old girl. He gradually regained his composure and looked into his mind, he was met with the sight of his three birds sat next to each other looking very cute. The ferocious looking Emerald Eagle was a giant compared to the parrot he bought before, he quickly withdrew the beast gear to see what it was and his eyes lit up with excitement.

In his hands a beautiful recurve bow appeared, it shone brightly with a dazzling green light as he inspected it in his hand. As he turned it over the light bounced off of it and made it shine with a pleasing glow his face lit up with a wide smile as he pulled the bow string. He could feel the power behind the bowstring, it was hard to pull it taught with his current strength but even so he could tell that it was made with exceptional craftsmanship. It was the most amazing weapon he had ever seen, it was obviously a powerful weapon which would aid him in hunting some amazing beasts.

Daniel put his new bow away and started thinking about what to do next. Now that he had the system and it's many features, he could use them to his advantage to glide his way through the first garden. How could he do it though? It was clear that he could sell items from the system to the people at the seashell market as different beast gears sold for different prices.

For example, a pet type beast soul could sell for at least 5 times more than an armour type of the same level due to it's versatility and rarity. Daniel quickly started browsing through the system shop and found that, no matter what kind of beast soul, they all sold for the same price and bought for the same price.

He headed down to the market and started browsing the numerous stalls. Most were only selling beast meat and not the gears, there were however a few that bought and sold some common beast gears. These gears were ridiculously overpriced though. It seemed the only reasonable thing to do was go to the official Seashell Trading Hall and take a look around there.

He headed towards the hall, still glancing at the stalls along the way. It wasn't that all of the stalls were trying to rip off their customers, the closer he got to the hall the lower the prices seemed to be. He decided that it was probably best to buy some of the cheap gears from the system store that were rare around here and then sell them at the trading hall. He would then use that money to buy some of the more common and worthless beast gears from some of the stalls outside, giving him more points to spend on better gears. Of course he would still need to go out and train himself to fight the different beasts in the wild, but that would come later, after he had gained some better beast gears.

He finally arrived in front of the trading hall and was met with the face of a beautiful girl, about the same age as him. "Hello there Sir, are you here to buy or sell?" she asked with a wide smile on her face as she approached. He was stunned to silence for a moment at her forwardness, but then he realised what she said and surmised that she was most likely a store clerk. "Oh, I'm here to sell first and buy later." Daniel finally replied after staring dumbly at her for about ten seconds or so. "Okay Sir this way then." She said as she lead him towards a back room by the arm.

They arrived at the room and sat down on a comfortable couch she opened a large index that was laid on the table in between them and asked "Gear or meat Sir?" "Gear" He answered quickly whilst taking out the stage one bow he had bought before. He didn't need it anymore as he had obtained the beast gear of a stage four beast.

Her eyes sparkled slightly at the sight of the colourful bow in his hands, " It's the beast gear of a Rainbow Makaw." He said whilst handing it over for her to examine. She took it in one hand and stared at it in awe for a moment, she quickly regained her composure however and began flicking through the index on the table. This index was quite the treasure, the store probably paid a pretty penny for it, it's contents were that of every known beast gear up to grade four.

Technically there were six stages of evolution in the first garden, Basic stage then stages one through five. Stage five beasts were know as the pinnacle of existence in the gardens, they were strong, intelligent beasts who would destroy entire bases when provoked. Not many people had met one of these beasts and lived to tell about it so little was known about them and their beast gears.

They had been killed before, and people had obtained their gears but they were very tight lipped about them and treated them like treasures, never to be given to anyone outside of the family.
