Whatever It Takes

No one's POV

Ever since Jessica went into an unexplained coma her family and friends have been traumatized as it has been 3 weeks and she still hasn't woken up.

When her parents found her they thought she was just sleeping all day because she didn't feel well. When school occurred they tried waking her but nothing could wake her.

They brought her to the hospital after it was more concerning. The doctors said she was in coma.

Days turned into weeks. Her family couldn't handle the thought of her never waking up. The one handling it the worst was her older brother, Stan.

Stan has been struggling more in school. His relationship with Wendy has crashed down as he has been more distant and moody. He has been constantly asking himself the same question.

'Will she wake up....?'

Jessica's best friend Mollie isn't handling the news well either. She visited Jess every day after school. She can see how Stan hasn't been handling this the best. She's trying to find the best time to approach him about this whole situation.

Kyle is very silent on how he feels about all of this for a reason. A hidden secret he has kept to himself for several years.

Stan being his super best friend, he would always come over and would be overjoyed seeing the smile on Jess's face.

Truth is.. Kyle has a crush on his super best friend's little sister but would never act on it considering Stan is extremely protective over her.

But now.... He was afraid she wouldn't wake up and he would lose her and Stan... Completely. From how Stan was behaving if she never woke up, he wouldn't be the same guy..

Jess had a huge impact on a lot of the people in the town. But only a few would go out of their way and try to save her.

Mollie's POV

The final bell rang signaling the end of school.

I grabbed my backpack walking to my locker putting my unnecessarily books away.

"Hey Mollie?"

I turn and see Kyle with his hands in his jacket pockets.

"Oh hey Kyle."

"Uhh can I talk to you for a second?"

"Sure, what's up?"

"I was wondering if you were going to see Jess again?"

"Yeah that's the plan, why?"

"Well Stan was wanting to go today but... He's been acting really strange....like stranger than normal. It's really freaking me out. I don't know what to do."

I sighed.

"I know what you mean, I have been wanting to talk to him for awhile now but I'm just finding the right time and place."

"I was thinking maybe you can talk to him at the hospital?"

"That's what I thought too."

I look over at him.

"Are you coming?"

He tensed up.

"I uhh don't know."

"Come on. You haven't gone once."

He looked down looking upset.

"There's a reason." He said in a sad tone.

I raise my eyebrow crossing my arms.

"What's the reason?"

"It..just hurts.. I don't want to see her in this condition."

"Yeah it's not a good sight but she's still your friend, right? What if she woke up today? That's why I go everyday. I don't care how bad it hurts leaving her there at night.. I always wake up thinking today is the day. If it's not then tomorrow will. I'm not giving up hope. She's my best friend.."

He looked at me shocked.

"Wow... Your right.... "

"Come on. I know you want to see her I can see it in your eyes."

He sighed.

"Okay..."

__________

Me and Kyle walked to the hospital.

We were walking up to the room when I see Kyle stop in front of me.

"Kyle?"

"I can't... I'll just wait out here.."

He was about to walk away but I grabbed his arm.

"Kyle I know it's hard but.. You should be there for her."

I opened the door dragging him inside but froze when I look over and see a man hovering over her.

He looked over at me.

"Hello there little one. Is this your friend?"

"Yeah, who are you?"

I let go of Kyle as he walked next to me.

"My name is Frank Trio, I am a trained professional. Don't worry, I was sent here to check on this girl, her pulse is fairly high. I see him pull something out of his bag sitting next to him.

"What's that?"

"It's a device that can transfer someone inside her head."

"Huh? Wait did I hear that right? You can get inside her head?" I asked.

"That's not possible. There's no such thing!" Said Kyle.

"It's a proven fact children. I wouldn't use this on myself if I was unsure."

"Wait... Your going in her head and seeing what's going on and maybe get her out?"

"Precisely."

I look at Kyle dumbfounded.

"Can I go?" I asked looking back at the doctor.

"Mollie what are you d-"

I nudged Kyle.

"You want to go in her head? Are you sure you want that?"

"Please... She's my best friend."

He looked over at Kyle then at me.

"Okay... But... Just know... This device is very realistic.. It'll seem too real..."

"Will it hurt?"

"No... It will cause you to sleep and it's basically a dream that transfers you to another dream.."

My eyes widen.

"I'll do it please... I'll give it a try."

"Okay... Just be careful.... I have a feeling her heart race is high for a reason.. But I'm afraid if it doesn't eventually slow down her body will go in full shock and she will die."

My jaw dropped as I felt a tear come of the thought.

I look over at Kyle and see him clenching his fists about to cry himself.

I walk up to the guy grabbing the device.

"How does this work?"

"Here.... Sit down... I'll turn it on for you my dear."

I sat down on a chair as he place the device on my head.

"Are you ready?"

I nod.

I hear a click and I see nothing but white.
