18 Chapter 18

“Two minutes. Look, they’re arriving.” Anne indicated two police vans that had stopped alongside an isolated house. A moment later, the door opened and a line of armed agents got out of the vehicles, as did Thomas and Anne. A fast run and they caught up with the squadron.

There were screams, threats, raised arms, some punches, some guns shoved in stomachs, faces to the wall, hands behind the back. Thomas moved to the back of the pub, in a corridor full of agents who were dragging a half-naked man out of a room and…Oh shit

Elias.

Thomas stopped halfway down the corridor and looked at the guy who raised his gaze and jumped as their eyes met.

“Elias,” he murmured, frowning. Nobody heard him, but in that moment, he realized he wouldn’t have cared if somebody realized he knew this guy.

Elias didn’t answer and lowered his gaze, bent down his head, and let them drag him out of the corridor and the pub to one of the vans.
