Chapter 3

-KAIZI-

"Should I leave her just like that? Her life is in danger." I sighed as I watched her walk away towards the crowd. Well, I warned her enough.

I approached the coffee section and took a seat. They don't even serve tea here, not even shops have some. Such barren place to be stuck on.

"Like I said in the very first place I don't need your help." He sat down in the chair opposite to mine.

"Mr. Rook Darwin. I never thought you would go too far, hurting an innocent woman." I crossed my arms in madness. His explanation is not even nee---

"Hmm, innocent you say? You know nothing!" He sneered at me, "Oh, of course, you know nothing. After all, you recently arrive here a week ago." he leaned his back on the chair, trying to relax. I didn't respond to his statement, what does he mean by that?

"You see, company businesses here cannot be touched by the police, even the government. We were granted a permit..." he halted for a minute to take a closer look at my reaction.

"...a permit that won't let any government, military, and even Private investigators to stick their nose with these companies. Even if we kill people from the Company, we won't be behind bars. For a detective like you, being here is considered suicide." He stated like explaining it to me.

I don't believe him. It's impossible for such a permit to be approved in existence unless---

"In summary, we are above the law. How come a renowned detective doesn't know about such stuff, I mean, you're not meant to know about it, actually." he ended and immediately left without even waiting for me to talk.

If such permit exists, the world will be in chaos.

How come I don't know about it?

No, why is he telling me this stuff?

My eyes widened when a certain person popped on my mind. That woman, what's her name again?

I stood up and started looking for that bloody dress.

Who is she?

How come she's involved in such a thing?

She's small, slim enough just to run a hundred meter and the fact that chimpanzees are cleverer than her, yeah, that's what I noticed.

But first, why would they suspect her to go in a life and death situation to find something kept hidden in a secured unknown room. They even tried to kill her during the blackout which they have totally planned it all out. The blackout lasted enough to get rid of the body---

---no, everyone could hear the gunshot, and people could panic.

What are they really up to?

But if the information is true, if she has that ability, then she'll start to go over the diamond right in this time where people are busy watching the eclipse.

I started running everywhere but not a sign of her.

Yeah, I just underestimated her.

"So stupid, I lost her." I need to warn Rook. I glanced at almost like everywhere just to find him having a chitchat with some ladies. I approached him in an immediate manner causing him to cock his head to me. Rook signaled the ladies to go elsewhere.

"Why thumping so loud?" He smirked, not bothering my serious gaze.

"She's after the diamond!" I exclaimed to him

"What?" Rook, giving me a funny face that I'm wrong. "You think so?" He added, now's been bothering by my glare.

Like, how did he forget she'll be onto that, after all, he slipped that information himself to me by saying it out loud for me to hear.

We ran and stopped in front of a wooden door, not even a sentry is guarding, and just how clumsy people are here?

"Surely, the best chance to kill her just slipped." Rook clenched his teeth.

"If you kill her, wouldn't the police arrest you for murder?" My mouth spoke up in instinct.

"Like I said, police won't interfere in any Company to Company issues like this" He responded like he is asking himself why he's explaining to a detective. "Even if we go killing each other, no warrant of arrests will be guaranteed," he repeated what he just said a minute ago. He crossed his arms to his chest and there, I noticed a gun-like object showing off from his tuxedo.

It's a tranquilizer.

They're really not onto killing her, but abduction. If they do kill her, they'll surely lose that company's trust and war between them will occur. But what company and what is her connection?

So, if they won't kill her in the end, then all of this assassination rumors were a part of their plan all along, but why and what purpose?

"Don't just stand there, let's go..." Rook shouted to me, breaking my thoughts. I noticed that he already took off his mask. "And grab your gun, " he added as he opened the door. Gladly, I took one for precautions.

We ran as fast as we can as Rook leads the way and from a distance, a red dress can be seen. That's her.

"Stop!" Rook shouted, making her halt. She looked at us with a smirk, showing off from her mask.

"Oh." slipped from her lips.

Rook immediately pointed his gun and fired at her only to realize that it's not a real gun but I watched how she easily dodged the projectile by stepping to her side and the tranquilizer hit the wooden wall.

"Dammit, I'll be back." He spat and ran back leaving us two behind. Damn, let's see.

Silence engulfed us, not one of us dared to speak while standing still. Then, I will start.

"Why such a lady would appear to be a--thief," I smirked at her while scanning her hands, holding nothing. I lifted my hands on my back, ready to pull my gun whenever she acts strange.

"Lady, my ass." She spat with disgust while holding a side of her dress ready to tear it apart. "Ready to see something unladylike."

She pulled her lower dress apart revealing guns and knives placed in pockets that are tightly secured on her thighs, on her knees and ankles while wearing a black tropical shorts matching the remains of the dress which now looks like a sleeveless

t-shirt. If only she takes off her mask, I can finally sue her.

I pulled my gun up to her in instinct, aiming for her head and fired, but she bowed down in instant dodging my attack, making the bullet hit a lampshade.

She can predict actions, can't she?

Just how reckful, is she?

Her right hand is touching the ground for balance and using her left hand, she grabbed a familiar silver gun located on her left thigh, Desert eagle.

She, without delay pointed the gun by my feet; she's so fast that I can't keep up. Three consecutive gunshots came from her, forcing me to move backward.

"Who are you?" I clenched my teeth, thinking about how she's giving me a hard time.

"Oh, you missed the presenter introducing me." She slowly stiod up with a sarcastic smile on her face. "The information you gave me, by the way, doesn't make sense in the first place." She uttered with a cold tone.

"It's not an assassination, but abduction." I corrected her, perhaps.

"Makes sense, so you noticed it now, huh." She halted, waiting for me to respond but I didn't give her one. "After listening to your explanation, it won't make sense killing me if they really want to protect my father's trust."

"Your father, huh, makes sense too," I whispered, and then started thinking for another hypothesis. "What company?" I shouted to her. Nothing came from her but a confused expression but then, a smirk crossed her face.

"The gun company." She replied.

What?

That company, is the very reason I came here. "Then you must be...." I halted when she suddenly spoke up.

"Well, the lady you recently danced with tonight." She smirked at me but I only gave her a disgraced expression.

I had never regretted anything in my whole life. I raised my gun towards her again but gunshots are now raining at me before I can even pull the trigger, damn, Rook.

Where are you?

I barged in into a room and the gunshots ceased.

"Crap!" I muttered. That's why women shouldn't hold guns.

They're psychos when they did.

I went out, pointing the gun towards her location, but she's nowhere to be found. That was a harsh fight, making me sweat.

I took my mask off and started running.
