1 Dead Frontier
A year after the break out of the Nero Virus around the world. Almost all life on Earth perish, cities burned to the ground, millions of lives has been taken by the virus, the dead came back to life and some even mutated into monsters that isn't even imaginable before the break out.
Humanity built settlement after settlements but they didn't last long because they were overrun by the dead and mutants. Those left behind there did not stand a chance.
Two years after the break out, some human settlement manage to survive and came together in order to fight against the dead and the mutants. They have built an empire of humanity and the world greatest minds gathered and research for a cure.
After a year of researching they have not found a cure for disease. Resources also became scarce, the farmlands inside the empire isn't enough. The lower class people inside the empire has started to starve and scavenging outside the walls.
Resources for researching has also started to deplete much more faster. Some of the researchers gave up and some did not.
After another year, people were dying and started turning into undead wrecking havoc on the outer area of the empire were the lower classes live.
The area that the human empire occupied has started to shrink. Desperation hunt them.
Finally, another year pass, the world's greatest minds came together once more and found a vaccine against Nero Virus.
Finally, mankind had prevailed against the disease. The last remaining few hundreds of thousands of humanity have fought the enemies and they manage to win bit by bit.
After a few years the number of undead and mutants shrink and human population have gained some significant growth.
The land that humanity occupied have gained even more vast lands. The new generation of humans live a normal life inside the giant walls that are built inside the empire. The old generation sacrifice their freedom and fought the enemies to death.
Their sacrifices have result of freedom for children who are hope of humanity.
Finally, after 20 years after the first break out of Nero Virus. They have annihilated the last undead and mutants that roam the world.
But, people always want more...
Despite a promise to shutter its labs where they conduct the research, the GOAT continued its research in secrecy for military purposes.
It didn't take long for a variant of Nero to escape into the world once more.
The Fall happened more rapidly than anyone could have predicted. The Empire that humanity painstakingly fought and made have been destroyed much faster that anyone could have imagined. The human settlements were the ones who crumbled first.
More undead and mutants have appeared and they are much more stronger than their predecessor have been. Plus, some mutants have high intelligence as par as humans. We call them the Rulers because they have gained control of unintelligent monsters and built their own settlements.
The few who survived the onslaught now lives in small enclaves.
The only means of contact between distant human settlements are lone individuals brave enough or desperate enough to travel on their own across dangerous wastelands.
They are known as Walkers.
Walkers are called walker because they walk and run among the undead and mutants. They have traveled enough to the wastelands and territories of the Rulers.
Somewhere on the map, one city is still standing.
A city isolated from the outside world.
A city with special rules.
Now... Its the last bastion of humanity.
The city is called Nero. It was named after the virus that plague the world.
