1 The Transfer Student

The day started like any other; I get up, brush my teeth, take a shower, get dressed and eat breakfast.

I went downstairs where my mom was making me a sandwich.

"Good morning." She said. "You should take your breakfast with you if you're going to catch the sky-train on the way to school."

"Alright, see ya later then!" I yelled back.

I grabbed some bread with PB&J, then headed out of the house.

We live on the fourth floor of an apartment complex in Kyoto Japan.

I ran down the stairs jumping out onto the sidewalk. I watched as cars flew through the streets of the city; casting shadows over me.

I made my way to the station where many people waited for their train to arrive.

Mine soon appeared, diving down from a hundred feet up; slowly coming down in front of me. It made a silent landing as a plume of air came up from underneath, the engines cooling off. The doors opened letting people inside; I jumped on, taking my seat.

I looked out the window as we left the station; the buildings soon left us behind from the ground below. Creating a painting of different lights and colors; a perfect mixture of luminescent brilliance.

"How beautiful…" I thought.

But this imagery is common in Kyoto, or anywhere else. In the year of 2117, we've pushed most of society's technology to their utmost limits.

Except, scientists have begun to explore advancements in integrating technology into the human body. The process is slow, but they've made many breakthroughs.

Some people believe that the human body is something sacred; like it shouldn't be messed with. The two opposing sides are at constant war with each other over which is right.

But me? It doesn't really matter. I just like to live my life the way I want.

One day at a time.

Arriving at the school gates I noticed my friend: Saya Miko.

She was a timid girl who was constantly made fun of for her shy nature.

But she was a good person, kind and sympathetic to people's issues.

Her short red hair held up around her forehead by her gold hair pins, her circular glasses the size of golf balls, she wore the school's tan and white female uniform as she carried her brown school bag.

"Hey Saya!" I said.

She looked at me nervously, fumbling with her thumbs. "Hey, Mada-sama… Did you sleep well? Maybe..." She whimpered.

I don't know why she was always so shy around me; we've known each other since elementary. But I guess everyone has at least a little bit of anxiety.

"No need to be so formal Saya, we've known each other for quite a while." I said.

She pushed up on her glasses. "Yes, but… Mada is a member of the student council; so, I must give my respect."

I took her hands clasping them together. "Say it with me, ok?"

She nodded nervously.

"Mada-kun." I said.

Her cheeks became a little red. "Mada...kun…" She shyly replied.

"Good, now let's say it together. Mada-kun."

She looked away, trying to avoid my gaze.

"Mada-kun." She repeated.

"See! There you go; "Kun" is meant for friends and close persons. So, it's much more important than "Sama"."

She looked through her glasses with a shy expression.

"W-we're friends?" She asked.

"Wha? Of course, will always be friends, you and me!" I grinned.

Her face turned bright red as her glasses fell off.

"Ah! My lenses!" She bent over, beginning to search for them on the ground.

At that moment the bell began to ring, signaling everyone inside the school.

/Riiiiinnnnggg!/

"Shoot! Sorry Saya, I gotta go!" I turned in the other direction heading for class.

Saya picked up her glasses placing them on as I ran inside.

"B-Bye-bye Mada-sama! I-I mean Mada-kun…" She replied.

We all sat down in class waiting for the teacher to take attendance; she soon walked in standing in front of the monitor.

"Good morning, class. Today I would like to introduce a new student." She said.

"A new student?" I thought.

A girl walked into the room; she wore a black school uniform.

Her hair was long, silver colored, with streaks of azure blue.

She looked 18. She was beautiful; all the boys in class gazed at her finely curved and athletic body; her smooth pure white skin and her jade-colored eyes.

"She's a transfer student from another school; I hope all of you welcome her with open arms." The teacher explained.

The girl stepped up. "Greetings, my name is Eva Cyona. A pleasure to make your acquaintance."

I don't know what it was... But I had the feeling she was staring directly at me...

She noticed me staring; her brow furrowed, glaring at me with swords and daggers.

"Eep!" I yelped turning away.

"Why don't you take the open seat next to Mada." Said the teacher.

She bowed, moving towards me.

"Wait no! Don't come over here!!" I thought.

She elegantly made her way over, resting on the chair. I reached my hand out in kindness.

"H-hi..." I stuttered. "My name is Mada Ekodo, nice to meet you."

She glanced at me, then turned back. "Please leave me be, I do not wish to associate myself with you or anyone else at this current time." She bluntly stated.

"Oh..." I said dishearten.

I turned back, facing the monitor; and like that, class began.
