1 The king's letter.

Short curly dark-Purple hair, a wide set of glittering dark-purple eyes hiding behind a frame of smart glasses, with thick soft Angles eyebrows slightly frowning from above those pair of serious eyes.

A harmless looking person from afar, yet the closer you get, the scarier his fierce glare becomes.

You can never intimidate him, as much as he can intimidate you.

When he was being told that he just got hired as a personal doctor, or the correct term would be A primary care physician, Ned Valentino felt nothing less than absolutely surprised, and perhaps Annoyed.

A 25 years old, fresh out of medical school, he was still a newbie doctor to be considered trustworthy enough to work privately for anyone, let alone the ruler of his kingdom.

As he intensely glared at the formal letter in his hand, then at the female messenger who felt utterly nervous in the young doctor's presence, he finally let out a big heavy sigh.

"This day couldn't get any weirder, seriously...

Well...tell his Majesty I would be ecstatic to accept this very high profile job offer...not that it seems like I have a choice in the matter, I can't say no to The King, I'd be a mad man.

*Sighing* Matilda, please inform your Master that I shall be arriving within two days at most, considering that I have to get myself ready for literally a life changing position." said Ned, sounding more like he was being choked rather than pleased by the offer.

He stood up from his seat placing the letter on his desk, he kept glancing at it from time to time as he chatted with his old friend from teenage days.

"I know you're absolutely mad at me Ned for being the one who recommended you to his Majesty, but trust me! this is seriously a one time in a lifetime chance! you won't regret it! I promise you." Matilda the messenger promised, giving the dark purple hair boy a set of encouraging thumbs up.

"I'm not sure what king would listen to you, what on earth are you doing that you got his Majesty himself asking for me to be his physician?!

Mati, are you screwing him by any chance?!" Ned asked curiously, A flustered Matilda instantly waved 'No' with her hands.

"Holy Moly No Ned!! he's an omega and I'm an alpha...wait that kinda works but no, there's no sex involved! I swear! I mean everyone knows the king is into men and I'm into women so obviously we wouldn't meet in the middle." Matilda replied, true Matilda has and has always had eyes only for girls, ever since she was a kid she knew she liked Women.

"You sure the king is into men? well that makes two of us."

"Sure as daylight Ned, actually his Majesty is currently still heartbroken...the father of his children cheated on him again, just like all the men before him always do! his Majesty has finally kicked the bastard entirely out of the palace!"

Intrigued by the gossip, "Oh my! spill the tea Mats! what else?! is it one of his servants like the rumors are circling around? wasn't there supposed to be wedding finally?! tell me!" Ned asked.

"Yes! OMG! And it was that son of Bitch! the Butler!

From what I heard, They caught the butler cheating on his Majesty with none other that his Majesty's Regent! his actual personal assistant?! can you believe it Ned?!

who would cheat on a king with the king's assistant?! In fact, who would cheat on the king himself!

The stupid wedding was called off thankfully, that evil butler planned from the beginning to use his Majesty to gain status." Matilda replied.

Ned nearly gasped, although commoners have no idea how does the king physically look like, as his appearance must be hidden for protective reasons.

Everyone still admire his Majesty and his work in the kingdom, for being a caring and gentle, and most importantly a strong leader.

King Muriel, is not only a Ruler but a single parent as well, already making his love life the headline by raising a triplet he gave birth to from his previous partner, the butler.

And A wedding was about to take a place, it was supposed to happen shortly after the rumors of him being engaged to one of his servants began spreading.

It's unusual that until now, that his Majesty doesn't have a permanent partner and there has been other rumors that he's cursed when it comes to love.

Every man he's ever been with, ends up cheating on him despite claiming that Muriel is everything they ever wanted.

Frustrated, Ned pulled on his hair, "Ugh, if the king himself doesn't have a chance, what do we have then?" he stated, both of him and Matilda still haven't found this so called true love.

Just like the King, both of them have been used and treated unfairly in all of their relationships up until now.

"Maybe we'll find our destined mates! maybe the king will too! I mean who knows, cheer up Ned." Matilda said smiling.

Rolling his eyes, "Destined mates, fated mates, soulmates...what a total bullshit, it's just a kids bedtime story." Ned replied.

"Ned, there's plenty of people that already found their mates, it's not just a story."

"And there's plenty more that spent their lives waiting for it to happen, but nothing happened! Matilda Don't build castles in the air!...life is never fair anyways."

"You can't let a girl dream can you! always with the negative point of view Ned." displeased, Matilda replied while angrily grabbing her coat, she then headed straight for the door.

Ever since they were kids, Ned has always been sensitive towards the idea of having a destined mate, he would always argue the same thing.

It's just a fairytale, he says.

Meanwhile Matilda was the opposite, her whole life she believed in this legend, Craved that this would happen to her someday, and it only made her argue with Ned whenever the subject was on the table.

"Oh c'mon Mati! I'm sorry I didn't mean to crush your very unrealistic dreams." Ned replied as he hurried back after her.

"In two days, I'll come back to pick you up, since I'm your only friend and family, I'll do it myself.

The king's orders were for you to be escorted to the palace by me Anyways...goodbye for now Ned." the tall woman said avoiding his gaze and left through the door.

Ned just stood there dressed in Visible guilt, "She's definitely hurt, damn it! I can't close my stupid mouth can I?! As if being socially awkward isn't enough for me, I keep risking to lose the only person that cares about me."

Walking back to his desk, he looked around sighing.

His work place was his home, but the already empty and tiny place he has always lived since his Medical school days, felt even more emptier than ever, ever since Matilda moved out.

It was Matilda that made it feel like home, her presence made it feel whole, but Now that she left again, Ned felt trapped in a cold prison instead of feeling at home.

This house was where he and Matilda lived together, until she moved out from here and into the royal palace, leaving Ned to be the only occupant of the place.

He used it mostly after becoming a doctor, as a mini clinic for the town's people.

Thankfully he wasn't the only doctor around, so his mind was at ease about leaving the poor people of this area with less medical care than they already had, and it's not like he can disobey the king's orders as well and not leave.

"Packing my bags might take few hours, but it will take a lifetime to gather all my emotions that I poured into this place...*Sigh*"

With that being said, Ned started the process of packing by first removing his name plate off his desk that proudly says 'Dr. Ned Valentino'.
