9 Flying lovers

Regardless of the circumstances, Bardeelus did not rush. He was given a chance to be patient, and think things through, so it was smart to use that chance.

He stalked the couple of heartbeats of those people who guarded the well, and concluded that it wasn't smart to attack them right now.

If he killed one of them, then the other would yell out for help, as Bardeelus can't really kill two people within a second. He's not that fast, and any mistake would get him crushed!

With that considered, he waited until night for an opportunity to attack; By then, he was in better shape even. All that meat he ate finally gave him energy, and laser-sharp focus too, rather than weighing him down!

Even now, Bardeelus was confused by how no one tried to kill him yet, he thought. "They must have wanted to starve me to death, maybe they didn't think I was dangerous enough? Eh, their funeral. At least they didn't stab me to death with deer bones. It ain't fun to get impaled."

Whatever this camp's elders had decided, he didn't plan to wait around all that much to figure it out. He had to act within this hour to break free, as there couldn't be a better chance!

The guards were drowsy at the moment, they weren't as sharp. Regardless of how half of the camp had to take roles as guards, all for safety's sake, they still lacked numbers here.

Plenty of posts had to be covered, some of which ranged out of the camp too ~ Their routines were not impenetrable!

Bardeelus couldn't be guarded forever either. Those who did guard him, would be amongst the most tired, as they'd handle extra long shifts, which in this case, was another thing to his advantage!

Anyway, two hours before midnight, one guard finally left the post, just to go ahead and sleep. In other words, this meant that now, only one guard stood near the well, so this was the best time to strike!

Over the course of a few minutes, Bardeelus focused as hard as he could, to figure out how many other people were nearby, in a fifty meter radius. He had to be careful, because if he alerted any other person in the perimeter while attacking this one guard, then he'd be dead in no time!

"Shit!" He cussed, not even a moment later.

Although the urges to escape spiked up now more than ever, he was prevented. He had to hold back as all of a sudden, he sensed another beating heart which approached the well!

Bardeelus sighed deeply, and felt like he got punched in the gut. His motivation drained out of his body rapidly, and he thought. "Guess they did think it through, that's gotta be another guard..."

Just when all hope seemed lost, some commotion from above forced him to pay attention again. He could hear those couple of heartbeats, colliding with one another and spiking up in excitement!

Only in these surroundings, excitement was in no way good. Bardeelus had a couple of theories regarding what was going on!

He thought, "They're either fucking over there, or fighting. Pretty sure I heard a woman, so it could be the guard's sweetheart."

The vicious excitement from above got even more intense, only now, he felt that one of these heartbeats was getting closer! This was problematic, since Bardeelus still was in a well!

It meant that if someone was rapidly getting closer, from above, then it wouldn't really be their decision. Someone was tossed in the well, or had fallen in it at least!

He knew enough to avoid the ragdolling body, which fell near his feet about three seconds later. At night, it was especially dark down here, so he couldn't see who this unlucky person was.

Bardeelus looked up instead, and thought. "Bet it was his sweetheart. This could've gone better if they calmed the fuck down."

Afterwards he yelled, "Thrust slower next time you fucking idiot! What am I supposed to do with her now?"

Of course, he didn't even know if this victim was a woman, but just assumed so instead. It didn't help how the other was knocked out cold, and couldn't cry for help for that matter; This further kept its gender a mystery!

Bardeelus sensed that this person was still alive. The well was fifteen meters deep, and although one would suffer broken bones if they fell in it, there still were some chances of survival. He didn't want to get involved in this though, regardless if he could help out or not.

He had plenty of reasons to be this sour, and at this point, he was a bit irritated that the only other person from above, didn't holler back.

This made him even more pessimistic, but his senses inevitably forced him towards an ethical dilemma; He debated. "Should I help? Some of these bastards had mercy on me, a little bit. They lowered me down here, rather than tossing me… but they still left me to starve, damn it! Fuck them and their little camp!"

This little self-debate couldn't have gone further even if he wanted to, because the situation escalated once more. Another person fluttered down the well, which at this point was pretty confusing.

This second one didn't come crashing down either, but controlled its balance effortlessly. Someone landed near Bardeelus, and started talking to him softly, through this blinding darkness!

Her tone was feminine, she said. "Hey, don't blow my heart up. It's me, Erdeta. We're getting you out of here!"

"We?" He asked.

It didn't seem like Erdeta understood boundaries so much, because she grabbed the other tightly with an embracing hug! Right after, they beamed upwards and straight out of the well.

Once they made it out, Bardeelus noticed that his predictions had been far out of bounds, delusional even! The other person who waited for them near the well, was someone that he didn't want to see; Audera!

"Hell nah! I'm jumping back down there!" He cussed, and struggled to break free too.

These couple of ladies didn't let him, and within a blink, all three of them suddenly flew towards the sky. This camp was poorly lit, and more than half of the people were either tired or asleep, so no one really noticed their flawless escape!

Erdeta fueled most of this plan. She practiced 'evasive' arcane arts, and a showcased spell for this branch was the cricket-leap ability!

Dimly lit, and small sized, green-mists surrounded her feet at will, which then allowed her to bounce off at any direction she pleased. Sometimes, she could jump over a hundred meters above the ground too ~ A lot of people would confuse her with a bird!

This spell was extremely useful, especially in this situation. The three of them landed fifty meters away from the camp, where they took yet another leap to get away further!

"What the hell are you two doing? Why are you saving me?" Bardeelus eventually complained.

Although he didn't mind getting squished between two, fairly attractive blondes, their current efforts seemed random at best. Audera especially, should've been an unmistakable enemy of his!

Erdeta was the first to respond, and while they continued flying above the forest, she whispered. "I'm dying, man, and you can help me. I have some stuff to tell you, about necromancy. It'll help you too!"
