11 City on fire : End of the Raid
As the magic circle was completing itself, the weather around the city becomes stormy and sky covered with black clouds began thundering as if apocalypse has came.
The bandits who were witnessing were just surprised but couldn't appreciate it as a chilly feeling travelled down their spine and their instincts screaming them to just get out of here.
As magic circle was finished, a huge shadow came out of it engulfed in fire and goes berserk in sky. After some moments, shadow calmed down and a huge eagle is formed out of the blazing shadow with its wings on fire.
The scene was too great that even Magnus felt inferiority even though he was demigod but charisma that Phoenix was emitting felt like he has been enlightened.
As soon as phoenix opened its eyes, phoenix glared at Magnus who was nearest to the feather and Magnus heard an voice in his mind,
"its been centuries since I have been summoned".
Hearing the voice, Magnus was puzzled and on realizing immediately moved his sight towards phoenix,
"oh, a new face but your power is saying something else".
Magnus replied in rather respectful manner,
" O great phoenix I was the one who have summoned you, please help me with my selfish wish".
" I know everything about you, and your scheme "
Phoenix spoke up and continued,
"you aren't a bad candidate for the job and now I realised why Gylaos was quite stubborn on choosing you".
Magnus questioned,
"whose this Gylaos, great spirit".
Phoenix sighed
"He didn't even introduced himself, what a blunder, well he is the God of Life who summoned you to this world",
After a pause, phoenix continued
" now since I am here lets get the things done".
Leaving Magnus in confusion, Phoenix took flight towards the location of cannons and mortars breathed out the huge fireball and burned out everything. And after destroying cannons, phoenix travelled towards the western side of city where elfs were witnessing the whole event and landed before the crowd of demihumans. Some demihumans were still puzzled on the situation. As soon as phoenix landed
" my followers, I have a last message for you since my last connection to this world would be perished after my departure".
Demihumans collectively replied,
"yes, O great spirit".
"that person, Magnus Rane is the messenger of Gods, make sure to follow him",
hearing the direct command from Phoenix was engraved in their hearts as words engraved on stone.
After the command, Phoenix took flight in sky and showered the fireballs on enemies.
Almost 70% of the enemies were perished and Magnus who was seeing everything from the tower was totally enjoying it.
As the judgement was being bestowed on sinners, a feeling of fullness filled Magnus's heart.
" Its the first time, I am feeling satisfied by destroying the things".
Even though Magnus destroyed and killed many but a hole deepened in his heart never filled. Every killing he executed filled him with nothing but a feeling of guilt even if the victim was criminal. He never wanted to be killer who lives on killing others but life gave him no other choice .
So this time he wanted to live a life that his father always wanted him to live , a life with infinite possibilities, a life of giving rather than taking, a life full of satisfaction rather than guilt or regrets.
Bandits who were exhausted and was in an hopeless situation couldn't even have any time of breath when The forces which were waiting for action entered the battlefield on Magnus's signal.
Demihumans and troops rushed into battlefield slaughtering every bandit in its way since the bandits were exhausted, they were easily crushed as boot crushes an ant.
Half of the city was on fire and number of bandits were decreasing at an speed of light.
Valor and wits of Demihumans can't be underestimated, their Battle prowess was displayed in their arts and skills. Even if Demihumans were all elites but they can't fight the enemies whose number is 100 times greater than them and that's where dead army enters, with the no sense of pain or fear. They rushed into Battle as herd of buffalos trempling everything in its way. Bandits were nothing than scapegoat to be slaughtered. Some were begging for mercy but they have long lost the chance for forgiveness and were mercilessly killed.
Hugo who was watching everything hopelessly cursed his luck and planned to run away from the city.
Magnus who was giving his thanks to the phoenix before his departure received an gift for the meeting, gift can itself be counted as relic. Gift was an undestructible flame which was the part of the phoenix wing's flame. On receiving the gift, Magnus showed gratitude and Phoenix returned back into the magic circle.
Most of the things were wrapped up, dead army and demihumans had taken care of most of the bandits what's left was the king of bandits.
Hugo who was scared to death immediately took a horse and ran towards one of the exits to escape. On seeing Hugo fleeing, Magnus formed an spear and threw it towards Hugo but spear thrashed into ground rather than piercing Hugo, the impact due to the thrash was too great that Hugo lost the balance and fall off. As soon he fell, he hid himself in an dark alley and some demihumans arrived at the scene,
"search that bastard, he won't have escaped too far".
City looked like victim of riot , destruction of life, destruction of property and many more. Hugo who was hiding, felt a presence from his back and pointed his sword towards the direction. Out of shadows, Magnus appeared before him,
"so you are the leader of these demihumans huh"
"why don't you join me and I will make you a rich man overnight? "
"why fighting for these poor demihumans? " .
Hearing Hugo's offer made Magnus laugh, to him Hugo looked like a fish struggling to free himself from net.
"what will you offer?"
"anything money, power, Woman just anything you desire".
An evil grin took over Magnus's face, seeing the grin relieved Hugo as he thought that Magnus would take on the offer but he replied,
"I want your life",
Hearing this filled Hugo with rage and he swinged his sword towards Magnus. Dogding the swing Magnus kicked him and Hugo crashed into wall which inflicted quite a damage on his body.
"please don't kill me, I apologise for my wrongdoing, please have mercy "
Hugo who once known for plundering and mass murdering the weak was now begging for his life.
"I won't be killing you but they will"
After that Magnus took Hugo and gathered the demihumans for his execution,
"its your day, how you wanna punish this bastard".
Everyone began cursing Hugo and shouting punishment methods like beheading and etc. A thought aroused in Magnus's mind and he took out sacred flame from shadow world.
"this is the gift from the Almighty Phoenix, Lets use it to burn him into crisps"
Everyone applauded in agreement and Hugo was burned alive in front of everyone in the city. Hugo screamed in pain and for mercy but fire devoured him to the bones and nothing was left. As the whole Raid came to end, Sun rose up.
