4 Lost and Found

"What's that?" Sara asked pointing a finger on the big machine.

"It's my best innovation dear. See, I have trouble sleeping problem so I decided I need some help. So I invented this. This thing helped me with my sleeps and I had wonderful dreams after that" Doctor said with proud.

Sara wondered what kind of dreams does make Doc feel so good. "What dreams?" She asked.

"Dreams of fairyland, princess, castle and everything Sara likes" Doctor said with a bright smile.

Sara smiled on hearing this. She couldn't sleep well mostly due to the heavy medications which caused her irritated almost all the time.

"Your nurse told me that you have the same problem as mine. You also have trouble in sleeping" Doctor politely said to Sara. Sara gestured yes and Doctor smiled.

"Would you like to give it a try?" Sara hesitated upon hearing this and embraced her bunny closer to her heart she was holding.

"You can take Mr. Roger with you if you want" Doctor ensured Sara.

This made Sara more comfortable but she still was scared of the idea Doc was suggesting. But the Doc was only person she liked in this hospital so she decided to give it a try as he was the one suggesting it.

Doctor made her lie on the bench of the machine and told her to close her eyes and try to sleep. Sara did exactly she was told.

Back in the hospital….

"What was that?" Samuel asked amazed by the whole event back with Mrs. Parker.

"No idea" Harry answered simply.

"How could that lunatic girl be her daughter?" Samuel was in denial after learning that the girl could be the long lost daughter of Parker's family.

"I don't know" Harry answered again.

"Didn't she disappear 12 years ago?" Samuel asked again for ensuring.

"I know" Harry retorted back. He was frustrated with the same question again and again in a loop. He knew exactly the same as Samuel did. He was as astound as Samuel was with the turn of events in this case but Samuel sounds in almost defiance about the whole situation.

"Hey wait. Isn't it strange that she recognized her after 12 years of not seeing her at all?" Samuel found this whole situation very inconceivable.

"A lot is strange here Samuel. We have to take each step very carefully now. There are lots of questions but first we have to find this girl" replied Harry.

"But where are we going now?" asked Samuel.

"The forensic lab" Harry answered. "I want to know about the blood spot I found from where she ran away"

"I am telling you something is way too bizarre" Samuel said while entering the hospital elevator.

Upon reaching the lab, they waited for a bit to the meet the person in charge.

"Good evening Detective" "Officer" said Dr. Gibbs.

"We want to know about the blood sample you collected on Parker's case" asked Harry.

"Well, the tests are going on but I can tell you something to begin" Harry and Samuel hopefully listened carefully to the every word Doctor said. "The blood spots you found at a distance from the house belong to an animal"

"An animal?" duo said in union. Harry and Samuel both were startled upon hearing this.

"Yes, we are not sure which animal. But it's not human blood" said Dr. Gibbs with confidence.

"What about other evidences?" Harry asked.

"We got two set of DNAs from the victim's body" Dr Gibbs informed.

"Other set could belong to the attacker?" Samuel asked expectantly.

"May be. I can't say much about that" informed Dr. Gibbs.

"Can you tell us something more?" Harry asked again.

"Not now. As I said we are still analyzing the evidences. You have to wait longer" Dr. Gibbs said.

Samuel and Harry were sitting on a table inside a café. They were in deep thoughts related to the case.

"There were two people there. Right? So, the other set of DNA has to belong with the attacker. And if we believe our suspect to be the lunatic girl then it has to her DNA" Samuel confirmed once again.

"What if someone else was there? The boy was attacked by the gun not the knife" Harry informed.

"May be she did brought a gun with her. May be she carried both the weapons. May be the Parker boy had the gun" Samuel suggested.

"Yeah… may be… anything could be possible. But if someone else was there then it sum up three people in the total" Harry said.

"Whatever… in both the scenario this person with another set of DNA has to be the culprit. Otherwise he should have come up until now" Samuel said.

"Fair enough. I was thinking about the photograph you found in the Parker's residence" Harry said while remembering.

"Oh yes… what about it?" Samuel said on recalling the picture.

"I was thinking of photo shopping her picture"

"Yeah… she is cute but her adult version is bit scary. So think about it again" Samuel said in a mocking fashion.

"Ha… very funny. I am talking about transforming her young picture into an adult so that we can have idea of what she might look like now. We have the picture of this girl who is our prime suspect. We can match it then. You have a friend who can help. Right" Harry asked.

"Ohh… smart… But we have to get the picture first" Samuel realized.

"So let's go. What are we waiting for?" Harry stood for leaving.

"Sorry… coffee is cancelled" Samuel said while leaving to the waiter who was holding two cups of coffee.

**********

"You check for the photo inside. I will wait her" Harry said to Samuel.

"Okay…" Samuel replied.

Harry lit the cigarette and took a puff from it. It was already dark outside and they were sneaking in someone's house without permission. Although, it is a crime scene but procedure should be followed according to the protocol. He took another puff while waiting for Samuel return. He turns around and noticed a small boy standing at a distance from him on his bicycle.

"Hello!!! It's too late to be out here" Harry said to the boy.

He waited for the response from the boy but found none. He started walking towards him by saying, "what's your name?" Harry asked again.

The boy startled and tried to turn over his bike but due to the panic got fell from it. He suddenly stood up and ran away leaving his bike in between the road. Harry shouted for him to stop but all was in vain as the boy was long gone.

"Did you scare that little boy?" Samuel said while approaching Harry.

"I think I have seen him somewhere" Harry said while trying to remember hard.

Harry and Samuel went near the bike to pull it up and found something shiny in the basket wrapped in a cloth. Harry unfolded the cloth only to find the very knife they were searching.

"Oh my god…" Samuel said shockingly.

"We have to get that boy fast" Harry panicked.

Samuel ran in the direction from which the boy had gone but returned with no news after few minutes.

"He is Mrs. Robinson's son. I saw his photograph in their house Harry said on recalling the morning he went to Mrs. Robinson's house for the inquiry. He remembered a photo frame hung on the wall which belonged to the same boy who just ran away on seeing him.

"But from where did he have this knife? Was that with him all this time?" Samuel wondered.

"May be found it and just kept it" Harry thought.

"But why?" Samuel said in disbelief.

"He is just a kid. May be thought it was cool" That was the probable reason Harry could thought at that time.

"So why did he ran away?" asked Samuel.

"He got scared. He might have seen us and know we work with police"

"May be he has seen something? He might be an eyewitness" suspected Samuel.

"But where would we find him?" Harry thought he should have caught him when he had chance.

"He is a kid right. He has to come back home after some time" Samuel ensured Harry.

"What if he never comes back because of us?" Harry asked mostly to himself.

"He is just a kid. We will catch him for sure" Samuel ensured Harry once again.

"Hope so…" said Harry.
