12 Attack on Harry

"I think you are mistaken Detective... But Chris never had any child…." told Melisa.

"Huhh…" escaped from Harry's mouth. Harry remembered Samuel's words when he said that he wonders if Mrs. Parker ever said any truth about anything in her entire life. She was a liar, there is no doubt on that but why would anyone say such a lies. What was she hiding? If whatever she said has been a big fat lie then what is the truth, real truth.

"Are you sure?" Harry asked again.

"Yes and why would I say such a thing on some assumption?" Melisa asked with disbelief.

"But we checked from the records. Mr. Parker did filed a complaint about her daughter going missing" Harry informed Melisa but Melisa did not have any concrete information to Harry.

"He must have filed some complain on a girl being missing but that girl should not be his daughter" Melisa said while looking around.

"Why?" Harry asked again with a hope to find any missing piece from the story they have been told or came up by themselves.

"Because he never had one" Melisa announced. She did not understand the point of bringing Parker's daughter again and again when there has been none to begin with.

Each revelation in this case was making Harry nervous. He did not have a very good feeling about any of it. Practically they still now nothing about the case or the people involved in this case.

"So who was the girl gone missing?" Harry wondered. It was becoming very difficult to know anything about the weird girl. Whole police department was not able to find her till now and noting can be said surely about her, not even her name. This was very unsettling for Harry.

This case started with a very weird girl on the street with a possible hostile nature. And still the identity of that girl is still unknown to them. It's both disconcerting and troubling for any Detective. But Harry had given all his focus and dedication to this case. He always does that whenever he gets any case. His records suggest the same.

"I can't say anything about that" Melisa told Harry.

"What about Mrs. Parker" Harry kept asking questions to Melisa in turns not because he doubts her but because he had a feeling that he was definitely missing something.

"What about her?" Melisa asked already tired of explaining things which has no real answers to give.

"She herself confirmed that their daughter went missing years ago and she returned back few days ago possibly with a hostile attitude on her door steps and attacked her son but we now know how true that part of story was" Harry explained his point to Melisa. "Wait a minute I have that girl photo in my phone"

Harry showed the girl photo to Melisa. Melisa looked at the photo but her expressions were clear that she did not know anything about that girl.

"I am sorry Detective. I think your whole case and the story in it is too nebulous. I found it either bleak or totally untrue. You might need to check the facts twice" Melisa suggested to Harry.

"We are doing that and that's how we are going closer to truth" Harry told Melisa.

"I understand but I can't help anymore as I don't know anything else" Melisa felt apologetic for Detective.

"May be if you do remember, do call me or text me. Here is my card" Harry said while giving his business card to Melisa.

"Sure" Melisa thanked Detective.

"Harry Anderson?" Melisa read Harry's full name in the card given to her. She remembered someone with similar name. It has been very long since she has heard or thought about him.

"Yes... is there any problem?" Harry asked.

"No… I was just remembering another Harry Anderson I used to know" said Melisa.

"Oh really…" Harry smiled.

"Yes…" Melisa smiled back

"May be you guys meet again?" Harry told Melisa plastering a wider smile on his face but Melisa went serious.

"No… I don't think so" Melisa denied any such possibility.

"Why not?" Harry asked in wonder.

"Because that's very unlikely to happen" Melisa told Harry.

"I shall take your leave now ma'am but you should remember that don't be so sure about what would come next in life." Harry walked towards the exit to lake his leave while talking to Melisa. "Life is full of…."

"Surprises!!!" Melisa completed the phrase Harry was quoting. "I know I get it. But my life never offered me anything surprisingly well but there were some instances of getting shocked and when I say shock I mean it literally" Melisa said with a fade smile.

Harry chuckled on hearing the statement Melisa made.

Harry bid his goodbye. He noticed that it was very late when he sat in driving seat. It was not long for night to fall and Harry had long way to drive back home. The driving did not concern him but he was too tired to drive whole night. May be finding a nice place during the journey would be a nice idea he thought. Keeping that thought in his mind, Harry begun with his journey.

[Two hours later]

It was too dark and Harry was taking extra care while driving. He was tired and hungry too. All he had was a sandwich and a cup of coffee in the Mrs. Parker's house. He noticed someone standing in between the road facing his back towards Harry. Harry used the horn in his car to make the person aware of his arrival and to let him go sideways but the person whoever he was did not move any muscle. He kept standing in between the road. The road was wide enough for Harry to pass by but he stopped as it was not likely that such an incidence do happen. He came out of his car but the person still did not move. Harry looked around and saw no one. He goes closer to the person and when the distance between the Harry and that person on the road standing in the middle way was single foot, the person turned. Harry noticed that the person was wearing some kind of mask. But he never saw that kind of thing ever so could not make up anything out of it. Before Harry could ask or do anything someone attacked him from behind using a syringe. Harry struggled for his release but it was matter of seconds when he gained unconsciousness.

******Few moments later******

Harry was faintly conscious when he saw a female figure helping him to lie in his car back seat. He tried to recognize her face and Sara escaped from his mouth. After that he again went unconscious.

Samuel stopped his car in front of Melisa's house. He tried to track his location using his car and the last stop was from that place. "Why was Harry here?" Samuel wondered.

He has been worried about Harry from past few days but skipping court meet for a divorce is no joke. He should have very good explanation for doing something so stupid like that. Sara is really mad at him and so does his lawyer. He even managed to come up with good impression in front of Judge. Being a Detective, it calls for praise.

Samuel was also worried for Sara, Harry's wife. She was very upset when she left earlier. Samuel tried to contact her again and again by calls or texts but nothing worked. He felt like he was in between a household quarrel and may be really was. He might be the person who unwontedly and unknowingly becoming a part of fight he does not want to or had to. But Harry was his friend. He is actually more than a friend. He is family, like a real brother. Harry is the closest family Samuel has or Samuel care for so a little trouble comes complimentary.

Samuel rang the bell and then knocked the door as he was being very impatient to know the whereabouts of Harry. He was also mad at him for being careless and ignorant but he was more worried for poor, crazy man. God knows what's going on his crazy little head. Luckily, Melisa did not take long this time to answer the door.

"Yes, how may I help you?" Melisa asked the person standing on her doorsteps.

Melisa was expecting for some reply by the visitor but got none. The visitor kept staring at her with wide shocked eyes. Samuel kept staring Melisa which made her uncomfortable.

"Who are you?" Melisa asked again.

"MOM" was the only word escaped from Samuel's mouth.

Who thought that Melisa would be the Samuel's mother?
