32 - 32 - Picking a Summons

The next day, everyone was present in the classroom. Hiroto, their teacher, arrived, and the class greeted him. A few students were still upset at being called for class after the final exams were over.

Hiroto started by saying, "Before we start, I have to say that I am very proud of your performances yesterday. Keep up your hard work, and soon you will all be splendid shinobi."

He then said, "I hope you all continue your training over the vacation as well. As for today's class, it won't be long. I will be talking about what options are available to you guys in the future. That is, what type of ninja you will become." Hearing that calmed down the upset ones.

After that, Hiroto started telling them what all options are there in the future.

He started with the medical ninjas. He explained what a medic does and emphasized their importance. He followed it up with various other possibilities like assault, tracking, sensor, infiltration, communication ninja, and so on.

He explained the benefits of each and every one of them, as well as their restrictions and limitations, as well as the risks associated. He also gave a role model for each one.

He then explained about specializing: "Ninjutsu, taijutsu, and genjutsu can all make a ninja very powerful if you specialize in one of these. But having the capability to use them all, even at the basic level, is important as well. Otherwise, you will have a lot of weaknesses."

He then let them go, and the vacation started.

The next day, Izuna knocked on the Hokage's door, and Hiruzen welcomed him inside.

Hiruzen then said, "I've been expecting you, so I have brought all the contract scrolls that our village has that I was able to get ahold of. This isn't something that is commonly done, but I will make an exception this one time."

Hiruzen knew that Izuna was a prodigy, and with the upcoming war, they would need all the help they could get. Giving him a good summon contract would help strengthen him.

He also knew if he wanted this to help with the village's relationship with the Uchiha clan, he would need to give Izuna a really good summon.

He then showed all the summons he had available. He said, "These are all the summons you have to choose from. First is the toads of Mount Myoboku. They won't necessarily give you a contract, but you shouldn't be in any danger, and if successful, you could possibly be taught Sage Mode. Next is the snakes of Ryuchi Cave, which is slightly more dangerous, but you could also be taught Sage Mode. Next is the slugs of Shikkotsu Forest, which is like the toads, not dangerous and with the possibility of learning Sage Mode. Next are the dogs that the Hatake and Inuzuka use. Next is the summon I use, which are monkeys. Next are insects used by the Aburame clan. Next is a bird, the Garuda, one of the few summons used for flight." He then showed him a couple more summons, some Izuna was familiar with from the show and some he wasn't.

As Izuna pondered his options, Hiruzen produced one final scroll and said, "Lastly, there is the summon that the First Hokage used."

Izuna was immediately surprised. The show never mentioned which summon Hashirama had, but it was rumored to be great and it also offered Sage Mode as well.

Hiruzen continued, "His contracted summons is very dangerous. They only select the most promising young shinobi. Hashirama is the only person I know to have actually been accepted; the rest were all killed by them. I wasn't going to show you this, but you are a prodigy yourself, so I thought I'd give you the opportunity."

Izuna was instantly drawn to this summon. He didn't know why, but he was. He then asked, "So what is the animal?"

Hiruzen then said, "They are the bears of Aurora Valley. Like I mentioned previously, it could be potentially dangerous. They might just kill you, but they are a strong summon and they can also teach you Sage Mode. So, take your time and make your pick."

After some deliberation, Izuna decided to pick Hashirama's summon. He thought, 'Hashirama was one of the strongest shinobi in history, so his summon has got to be amazing as well. Plus, they can potentially teach me Sage Mode. I know it's dangerous, but from all the gifts that God gave me, I have to be considered talented enough to not be killed, and something, I don't know what it is, is calling me towards this.'

He then told Hiruzen, "I pick the bears." Hiruzen was shocked but was going to respect Izuna's pick.
