24 - 24 - Practicing the Shadow Clone Jutsu

Izuna stood before his father, a hint of determination in his eyes as he outlined his combat strategy. "Father, I plan to use wind and fire for offense and earth for defense," he explained. "Could you recommend a C-rank jutsu that would complement this approach?"

Takashi pondered for a brief moment, carefully considering his son's request. "Given your combat system, and since you already possess the C-rank Great Fireball Jutsu, I suggest the Earth Dome Jutsu for defense to help round you out," he finally said.

Izuna nodded his head to his father's response and thought, 'That is actually a very good jutsu considering the circumstance.' He then said to his father, "Okay, I will go with your pick, but I'm curious, if you had to give me a wind jutsu, which one would it be?"

His father thought for a moment again, then said, "I think I would give you the C-rank Great Breakthrough Jutsu or the Wind Dragon Jutsu. These two would synergize well with your Great Fireball Jutsu, especially now that you can use shadow clones for combination attacks. Also, many people in our village have the fire affinity, so learning these jutsus for combined tactics will be essential eventually. The only reason I'm not going to go ahead and give them to you now is you only have so much time in the day to practice, and it's better to master one jutsu then to half-ass know multiple jutsus."

Izuna understood his father's thought process, but what his father didn't know is that Izuna, thanks to his save points, had much more time than any other person to practice. Now that they had picked the jutsu for him to learn, his father went on to teach him both the Shadow Clone and Earth Dome Jutsus.

With the help of his Sharingan, Izuna easily learned them.

After learning the jutsus, Izuna was ready to run to his training ground and start practicing them, but before he could leave, his father quickly said, "Since you have been training so hard, I talked to some people and ensured that you will now have access to both E and D rank jutsus in the clan's library." Izuna, happy to hear the good news, once again thanked his father before he ran off to start practicing his new jutsus.

Izuna quickly ran off to his private training grounds, where he then began to practice his Shadow Clone and Earth Dome Jutsus. The first thing he did when he got to the training ground was to quickly practice the Earth Dome Jutsu, which was much easier than the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

After around five attempts, he had the jutsu mastered well enough that he decided it was time to start working on the Shadow Clone Jutsu.

He thought back to his father's words, "When you dispel the clone, all its memories will be transferred to you, and that might cause a huge headache, so try not to dispel multiple clones all at once, especially in the beginning or after a long training session."

After several attempts, he finally got the jutsu down.

Izuna then thought to himself as he was about to create more clones, 'Chakra doesn't necessarily have to be distributed evenly among my clones. It is up to my will and capability to decide the percentage of chakra each clone will have. I can create them all with equal chakra to hide myself or give them more or less chakra based on what the clone will be used for. Also, dispelling the clone doesn't return all the chakra to me; currently, I lose about 5% of my chakra each time I dispel a clone, but this will get better as time goes on, though father said it will never reach 0. Now, I need to do a test.'

He then created a clone and sent it behind him, where it then wrote a random number on a tree. It then got a kunai and stabbed itself.

Izuna then thought to himself, 'Okay, great, I now know that I do receive the clone's memories, and I know that the pain will not be transferred over, so I can now consider this jutsu learned.'

He then began to practice his new jutsu, the Earth Dome Jutsu, with seven clones, which was the maximum amount he could currently make so he could make seven times the progress.

After working on the jutsu for about an hour, he noticed that the clones started to dispel themselves once they ran below a certain percent of his chakra.

He thought, 'It looks like the clones dispel after they go below 5% of my chakra. That also happens to be the amount of chakra that isn't returned to me. I wonder if that is a coincidence or not.'

He didn't know, especially considering he didn't get any chakra back after the clones were dispelled since they were below the threshold of lost chakra. Now that he was out of chakra, he knew it was time for a redo so that he could get a third C-rank jutsu.

[A/n I would like to clarify that the shadow clone jutsu isn't a forbidden jutsu; it is a B-rank jutsu. The forbidden jutsu is the multi-shadow clone jutsu. This is the one that Naruto uses.]
