9 Chapter 9 : The Break

------------This chapter is a little gruesome, so YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!!----------

YERRR! Just a little disclaimer, the MC did not get raped last chapter. Probly could have worded that better. And two chapters didn't happen yesterday. Sorry I had to show the boys up at pool. I won btw. Possibly tomorrow or Monday will be a two chapter day. One thing I don't understand is why do we get out of school for MLK day and Labor day but not Veterans Day? Smh. Well, Esketit.

--------------------------

Over the next four years, Kenji, Hansuke, Miki, and Asami continued the triumph over brutal obstacles under the Anbu Commander and his goons. The team of young kids eventually became more than the average shinobi. The Commander used a variety of torture techniques to numb the pain and feelings of his perfection project in case they were captured. If they had no emotion or feelings, how could they give up valuable information to enemies? The Commander often enjoyed seeing the struggles and anguish of his students, especially while torturing them. Whether it be a three hour genjutsu session filled with screams or sitting in a pool of water dreading the next electrocution current. Kenji and Hansuke both obtained a strong connection with Asami and Miki simply because they were in the same boat. Miki was sort of shy towards the beginning. She always looked down on herself with her green eyes, and had a habit of brushing her dark purple hair out of her face. Asami was more on the hot headed side. Her short red hair matched her fiery complex until the Commander himself put a stop to that early. Kenji took notice of her change about two weeks in when she arrived early for training. An enormous bandage cocooned her left eye and side of her head. When she unwrapped it, a gruesome, deep scar wrapped around her small shaped face. Her parents weren't happy, but were forced to submit when she pleaded about the 'accident' that occurred. After that, she turned into a loyal soldier. Hansuke managed to keep a determined stature during training, always passing with flying colors, but afterwards Kenji could tell it was tearing his friend apart. The lying. The pain. All of it. He knew if it weren't for each other, this hell would eat them alive. Kenji knew by his teammates faces during the academy, before training, that the Commander and his squad knew what they were doing. His friends never talked. Never answered Mr. Yuto's questions. The friends made strictly at the academy never saw them around anymore which broke a lot of friendships. Too bad they had no idea of the brainwashing taking place under their nose.

Kenji was in a double sided position. His curiosity trumped the blind loyalty being pushed upon his psyche. He still admitted his loyalty to the Mist, but why was this happening? He'd never heard of this kind of training before. He read all kinds of books belonging to the academy. Anything to persuade his mind no forget what was happening for a while, and nothing mentioned this. He even requested an audience with the Mizukage, since he figured Yagura would know, but Kenji was denied several times which raised his suspicions further.

Kenji should have been the worst. His teammates had the pleasure of working with the Commander's squad, but the Commander himself continued to work with Kenji. He even stated he wanted Kenji to captain this squad. Kenji was privileged with learning assassination, infiltration, espionage, war tactics, ninjutsu, genjutsu, taijutsu, and the most ironic, torture tactics. The commander knew Aya taught him Kenjutsu, and he allowed it to continue since Aya was a legend concerning swords. Some say she could take the Seven Ninja Swordsmen of the Mist all at the same time. Even the Commander shuddered thinking about her, but thankful she mostly secluded herself after retirement.

Kenji was always yearning for knowledge. He loved to strive for perfection, in training and the understanding of how things worked in this world. The Commander was pleased with his pupil, but watching his friends everyday, Kenji's hate for this man continued to build like a snowball rolling down a mountain. The Commander often tried different torture for Kenji since his gut pointed towards Kenji's eventual betrayal, and that's the last thing he wanted. Kenji managed to pull through until the last attempt.

When Kenji was nine, him and his team were sparring under the eyes of the Anbu. The session was ended and the kids were released but the Commander pulled Kenji aside.

"Come with me, I have one more thing for you." The commander gave his devilish smile.

Kenji was used to this by now. The commander didn't wait for an answer. He spun around and Kenji followed closely. He hated to admit it, but Kenji knew this struggle bus did make him more obedient to superiors which he didn't like.

The student and teacher reached the all too familiar torture room which made Kenji's cheekbones clench. He wasn't due for another session for another week. The Commander turned to him and said, "This is your last one. Don't disappoint me."

Kenji gulped. He took a deep breath and entered. He couldn't see anything, but he knew exactly where the chains were. He restrained himself and waited.

The Commander thought Kenji was amazing. The old man focused on internal damage torture, physical torture, and mental already and Kenji had yet to crack. So, he thought why not all three at the same time? He smiled thoughtfully.

"I promise it won't hurt." He assured Kenji much like the father he always wanted. Kenji wanted to say something but decided no say nothing. Suddenly, the genjutsu specialist that was very close to the Commander personally, walked in. Instantly, Kenji was placed into a dream. He was in the same room which puzzled him. Was he actually in a genjutsu? He looked towards the metal door when Hansuke entered.

"Hansuke? Why are you here?" Kenji asked.

Hansuke walked straight towards him. A hammer appeared out of thin air and floated into his hand.

"Han..."

DING!

The hammer pierced the left temple of Kenji's head and retracted, leaving a gaping hole in his head that poured red liquid and a screaming Kenji that looked like a madman covered in the blood of his victims.

DING!

DING!

DING!

Over and over, the Hansuke illusion smashed his best friends face in, in the end, a mutilated mush of brain matter and hair remained resting along Kenji's shoulders. His eyeballs drooped as one fell, and resembled a ball dangling on a string. Kenji died. Then, Kenji was right back where he started. Hansuke then pulled out several kunai, and the cycle repeated. Kenji was mutilated for what felt like an eternity by his best friend.

---------------

Back in reality...

The Commander stood behind a screaming, dream state Kenji with a whip. At the end of it, a shuriken was attached. The man flung his weapon towards Kenji. A scraping sound was muffled behind the yells and bloodcurdling cries. When he was done, an x of overlapping cuts were imprinted on Kenji's back. The x stretched from the top of Kenji's shoulders to the bottom of his rib cage. Each line was about four inches wide.

The genjutsu specialist continued to monitor Kenji for two days, making sure he wasn't broken beyond repair. The commander became bored, so he decorated Kenji's torso with scrapes. Randomly placed and many overlapping with another, the young boys chest, stomach, lower back, and shoulders looked like an abstract painting of cuts.

As Kenji awoke in a hospital bed a week later, the Commander stood idly by with interest. He wondered how Kenji would fare after THIS.

Note : I'm a sick individual. I know. I'm a sucker for character development, so everything that happens in the next several chapters will greatly impact what Kenji becomes in the future. I'm going to put warnings before every chapter like this, but I promise that not that many will be like this. So if this isn't your thing, I understand. Correct me if I'm wrong but I think this specific thing is called angst. lol. And with that, I'm out. YERRR!
