5 5. Commotion
In a dark corner away from Akio's and Kaori's vision,
Yamato silently stares at the mother-son duo.
'I don't understand what they are talking about, but I think I brought them trouble.'
Yamato stares at his hands and clutches his fist.
'I will never forget this kindness they showed to me!'
He notices Akio walking towards the stairs.
Swoosh…
Yamato swiftly climbs the stares without making any noise. He returns to the room and pretends to sleep.
A few seconds later,
"Aww… Man, That's was heavy!"
Akio places down the sack and massages his shoulders as he silently stares at his pitiful stats.
'Since I am not an adult yet, my stats are lower than average. If only there was a way for me to increase my other stats.'
He opens the sack and grabs a metal wire and a bunch of kunais and shurikens.
"Every person in Konoha, be it a civilian or a shinobi, has the freedom to lay down safety measures in their house as long as they don't interfere with the emergency protocol or violate the safety of other people."
Swish… Swish…
He carefully weaves the wire through the room and uses the darkness of the room to camouflage the wires from the vision.
Next up, he hides the throwing weapons, like kunai and shuriken, in the compartments in his room and attaches them to the metal wire.
While laying down the trap, Akio casually opens the emergency quest menu to take a detailed look at the information.
'Since it is an emergency quest from the system, there must be rewards, too. I was way too focused on the details and looming threat of the death that I forgot to check it out.'
Akio opens the quest menu and stares at the reward section.
[Rewards: Super Soldier Serum: Extremis (Perfected)]
Hmm…
"Super Soldier Serum?!"
Doubts appear in Akio's eyes as he recalls the information about it.
"Super soldier Serum is one of the most iconic power-boosting serums of the Marvel universe. There are various iterations of this serum ranging from the defective red skull serum, perfect super-soldier serum of Captain America, hydra version of winter soldier, a modified version of Howard Stark, gamma version of hulk, and the latest AIM version of Extremis.
Then there is also the Sentry Serum, but I don't have any high hopes to achieve such power. Since every power comes at a cost and I don't think I can afford the cost of that kind of power.
Also, I am pretty sure Danzo and Orochimaru are also working on something similar to a super-soldier serum for enhancing the power of a shinobi.
I wonder how it will work for a normal person. For now, let's see what kind of serum will I get?"
Akio shakes his head to dispel the distracting thoughts and focuses his attention on the description of the Serum.
[Super Soldier Serum: Extremis (Perfected): - It's a growth type serum that will add +5 stats to the selected attribute of the user every passing year of life with initial addition of +5 attributes to all stats.]
"Oh!"
Akio raises an eyebrow in surprise and stops for a moment.
"That's quite amazing! Only If I can survive for twenty years, then I will have an extra +100 attributes to boast about."
He continues to lay down traps all around the windows of the house.
'Do I think these traps are enough to stop them? No! Absolutely not! If an elite group of ninjas could be killed or ambushed in such a novice way, then they might as well give up on taking such high-risk missions. What I am aiming for is simple! I want to create a huge commotion to alert the Hokage or the Anbu working under him.'
As Akio is laying down the traps, Yamato slowly opens one of his eyes and peeks at Akio.
'Akio Nii-san already knows that someone is after me, but he still chooses to defend me. From now onwards, he will be the only person; I will look up to.'
Akio takes three hours to lay down traps all around the windows and the doors of the house. Kaori calmly stares at her son and shakes her head.
'Your mother is more reliable than you think!'
She takes out a scroll from her pocket.
Swish… Swish…
Kaori writes a message on the scroll with a brush and folds it.

Meanwhile, on a roof on the eastern side of the shopping district,

Multiple Root shinobis gather around.
[Any lead?]
The person who seems to be the leader of the group makes some gestures.
[No!]
The remaining Root shinobis shake their head.
[We can't let down Danzo-Sama's trust in us. Time for some strict measures]
The leader makes some hand signs and slams his palm on the ground.
Poof…
A large bloodhound appears in a puff of smoke. The dog has a black fur coat with a black band tied around its neck.
"Here!"
The captain pushes a block of wood in front of the dog.
Sniff… Sniff…
The bloodhound takes a whiff of the woodblock and turns towards a distance.
Woof…
It barks once and dashes in distance.
"After him!"
The Root shinobis quickly chase after the dog.
Swoosh… swoosh…
Soon, they arrive in front of the Nakamura Weapon Shop.
Woof… Woof…
The dog roams around the shop and barks once.
Hmm?!
The Root members pause and stare at the weapon Shop. The captain turns towards another member of his team and signals him. The root member closes his eyes to sense the chakra of the residents of the house.
After a while, he opens his eyes and gestures.
[There are two chakra signatures in the house. One of them is on the first floor while the other is on the ground floor.]
[That must be the target! Let's quickly capture him!]
The captain signals his team.
Whoosh… whoosh…
Three root members flicker towards the first floor while the other two flicker towards the ground floor.
Swish… swish…
One of the anbu members makes some hand signs and erects a small barrier around the house.
"Silencing Seal"
The barrier isolates all noise in the house's vicinity.
Clang… clang…
The root members break through the glass window and barge into the house.
Fwish… Fwish…
As soon as the anbu members enter the house, they are greeted by a barrage of kunais and shurikens to their face.
Ah?!
Clang… clang…
The root members quickly deflect the kunais, but some of the shurikens still manage to penetrate their defense and injure them.
"Huh?!"
Akio, who has fallen asleep earlier, hurriedly opens his eyes because of earlier commotion.
"They are here!"
His expression turns ugly as the group of Root anbus emotionlessly stares at him.
"Akio, Nii-san!"
Yamato is startled awake. He cautiously stares at Root members with fear in his eyes.
[That's the target!]
The sensor ninja points towards Yamato.
[There is a slight miscalculation. There are two people on the first floor!]
The captain frowns as he stares at Akio.
Gulp…
Akio gulps his saliva and warily stares at the root members.
'The earlier trap created quite a commotion, I hope someone will make it in time? Where the patrol guards when you need them the most?'
He complains as he stares at the Root shinobis with dread.
[Capture the target while I put the other kid to sleep!]
The captain makes some hand signs.
"Genjutsu: Demonic Illusion: False World"
A string of yin chakra extends from the palm of the captain and enters Akio's body.
'Huh?!'
Akio tilts his head in confusion as he feels a slight cooling sensation in his body.
"Huh?!"
The Root captain is also confused as his most powerful genjutsu fails to affect Akio.
[Again!]
Swish… swish…
The captain makes some more hand signs and recasts his genjutsu.
"Genjutsu: Demonic Illusion: False World"
Again, a string of chakra enters Akio's body, but it fails to trap him in a genjutsu.
Hmm…
Akio stares at the Root captain as multiple thoughts run across his mind.
'From the looks of it, he is trying to cast a genjutsu on me to disrupt my chakra and put me to sleep. But since I don't have a chakra system, his genjutsu technique doesn't affect me.'
He is bewildered at this revelation.
'I don't know how I should feel about this development, since I am immune to genjutsu thanks to my lack of chakra system.'
Akio opens up the system menu to look at the status of the Root Captain.
