Finally, the day when the semi-finals were about to take place has arrived.
Jin was super excited about this and was looking forward to seeing how much the entire chunin exams will change from the canon because of him.
All the participating genin arrived in the exam hall and looked eager to fight.
Soon, the Hokage and the other Jonin came and Hiruzen started his age-old talk about the will of fire and also said how the Chunin exams are another form of warfare.
While the Hokage was talking, Jin look around and saw many teams there.
This exam is different from the canon.
Jin saw Team 7.
Naruto was happy and energetic as ever while Sasuke looked even more emo now that he faced Orochimaru and have the cursed seal on him.
Sakura was also looking good. But she was also looking tired.
The entire Team 7 was looking tired and beaten up.
While looking at Team 7 he also saw Team 10 nearby.
Asuma's team was also having a good time and did not look nearly as bad as team 7.
Shikamaru was looking bored and sleepy while Choji for the first time might have not been eating something. Ino was also there but she was going fangirl over Sasuke.
Sakura this time around did not act like a fangirl. Maybe Jin's talk did change something in her.
Team 9 was also there and was standing pretty far away from other Konoha teams.
Lee looks excited while Tenten looks like she is looking for a good fight. Neji had his traditional Hyuga frown.
The last team, team 8 was also there and was looking good.
Hinata was secretly looking at Naruto while Kiba was looking impatient. Shino might be the only decent ninja in team 8 including their sensei.
Who the hell try to put freaking Uchiha Itachi under a Genjutsu?
Then he looked another way and found something interesting.
There is no other team. This means that the sound team did not find any more scrolls and even Kabuto's team did not find any other scrolls after he took 2 scrolls for himself from the exams.
Meaning there are 10 total Konoha participants while only 3 sand participants and no other village shinobi at all.
"Okay, I will be announcing the first match" The proctor of the semi-finals shouted.
This bought Jin out of his thinking.
"First match, Naruto Uzumaki vs Shikamaru Nara" said Genma.
Jin knew that the matches are going to change a lot but he did not expect much. Honestly, he was a little surprised by the weird matchup and was looking forward to this match.
Both Naruto and Shikamaru are important characters unlike Kiba who Naruto was supposed to fight or the girl which Shikamaru was supposed to fight.
Naruto was looking forward to this fight while Shikaramu was looking forward to quite the fight. But he did not do that though. Seems like his mother went all out in motivating Shikamaru.
Both the boys finally came to the fighting ring and stand in front of each other.
"Now remember both of you, The fight ends when either one of you two gives up or was knocked out or killed. I however will interfere if I think that your life is in danger and you can't win." said the proctor and gave a sign to start the battle.
Naruto quickly started charging mindlessly towards Shikamaru. Shikamaru on the other hand went as back as he could and directly activated his shadow paralysis Jutsu.
Naruto saw that and even not knowing what exactly it is. He knew this much that he better not touch it.
Naruto immediately halted and dodge the shadow.
He started to jump around to dodge the shadow while Shikamaru was trying to catch him.
He was looking for a gap so he could use his shadow clone Jutsu.
He already had a problem using his chakra after Orochimaru use the five-finger elemental seal on him.
Shikamaru at this time was planning a way to catch Naruto and he already had a plan.
He sends Naruto to the near end of the stadium to limit his movement.
In the Stadium everyone was commenting about this battle.
"Kakashi, I don't think your student has a chance to win against Shikamaru. You know that Shikamaru is the smarted Nara in this generation. I to this date have not won against him in shogi even once." said Asuma to Kakashi.
Kakashi did not say anything but was a little worried about Naruto. He knew that Naruto is not the brightest person in his team and when facing a Nara specially Shikaku's son.
Naruto just can't win because he has a lot of chakra and multiplies indefinitely.
Team 10 was cheering Shikamaru while people from Team 7 did not say anything.
Jin at least thought that Sakura would cheer Naruto on but even she did not cheer for Naruto. This made him feel sad.
In the stadium, Naruto was getting overwhelmed and was getting pushback. It was not like Shikamaru was having an easy time either.
Unlike Temari who was not did not move around a lot. Naruto was a little more troubled character in Shikamaru's dictionary.
"Come on Naruto, Don't just keep jumping around and use your brain and counter-attack already." Shouted Jin to Naruto to motivate him and also give him some hints.
Which work fabulously. Naruto quickly understand what Jin meant by using a counter.
Naruto quickly ready and throw a smoke bomb to hinder Shikamaru's sight.
When the smoke separated, Naruto was captured by Shikamaru.
"Come on Naruto let's stop this troublesome competition and stop here," said Shikamaru in a lazy and bore tone.
But at this time Naruto who was trapped by the shadow disappear and Another Naruto attacked Shikamaru from behind.
Shikamaru was ready for this attack and use his shadow which he was hiding immediately attack to Naruto.
But at this time another Naruto shouted from above Shikamaru.
"I am not gonna give up, believe it dattebayo" shouted Naruto.
Naruto was in the air.
Shikamaru anticipated this attack and directly jump away from the position.
The only mistake he did was to look at Naruto's direction.
"Solar Flare" shouted Naruto in the air. Using the full power of the Sun behind him Naruto activated the solar flare technique at his max power.
Shikamaru and everyone near the stadium was immediately blinded by the magnificent light.
Shikamaru was not expecting this kind of attack from Naruto. It was not in his calculation but he was not lost yet.
He already knew where Naruto was going to land and immediately send his shadow to that location.
It took some time for everyone including Shikamaru to regain their sight.
When they start seeing again they saw Naruto was captured by Shikamaru's shadow.
Or that is what Shikamaru saw.
Everyone was looking at the capture of Naruto and Shikamaru. And also another Naruto behind Shikamaru.
Then the captured shadow clone pop away and finally, Shikamru realize that there was someone behind him and also have a kunai beside his neck.
"So, the second time I caught you was not a shadow clone but it was you all alone" Shikamaru being as smart as he is easily understood what happen.
The second Naruto which catch was the real Naruto.
Jin also saw this and was smiling. Shikamaru might be an excellent strategist but Naruto is also the most unpredictable ninja in the history of this shinobi world.
Poor Shikamaru is 100 years too early to outmatch Naruto's prankster mind.
