17 Chapter 17 : Land Of Snow Arc 3

Shikamaru and his team were able to capture one of the enemy shinobi thanks to his grey wolf, pretty much tearing all the chakra armour apart from him, and defending him against other enemies. So they can't take him with them or kill him so he doesn't spill any beans.

The other two unfortunately though got away. Asuma after the fight and making sure of the safety of the crew and the main target, took it upon himself to extract information from the man.

Technically a Yamanaka should be a better option for this kind of job but torture and mind ra*ing is not something Ino is ready for right now.

Shikamaru secretly sent his rabbit out when this was happening, just to get first-hand information, as there is a possibility that Asuma might not tell them everything. 

And that exactly happened, Asuma only said what they are supposed to do, in fact, the biggest part of the talk here from the sudden raise in the status of the mission, this is no longer a normal long-term C rank mission, with a entire country involve, this is nothing less than a high tier A rank mission if not S rank depending on what they are gonna face.

And here comes the biggest trouble, Konoha shinobi handbook says that if faced with this kind of situation outside war, the genin team should retreat at once. 'But if we go back, then what will happen to the land of snow or Yukie Fujikaze? He'll leave her, what will happen to the cannon of this world? Troublesome,' Shikamaru grumbled internally and then knowing the reality of the situation finally said.

"We can take this mission Asuma, although it might fall in the A rank category but considering that we are here talking about the Land Of Snow, there should be many problems as long as we are not entering into direct confrontation with many shinobi at the same time. 

Let's do this sneakily, this is the best time to improve the relationship with Konoha and the Land Of Snow," Shikamaru said with confidence, this is also a very good way to pack some quality experience under his team's belt.

After all even team 7 needed a dangerous mission like the waves to make themself grow. Sasuke opened his Sharingan, Naruto for the first time using his Nine Tail Chakra and Sakura... hmm... 

I am sure there should be something but I can't remember anything right now so whatever.

Overall they needed to take this mission. Asuma thought otherwise, he did see where Shikamaru was coming from, it was the right choice to do that but as a team leader and the Jonin sensei for team 10, it was his duty to prioritise the safety of his team.

"What do you think, Choji, Ino ?" Before making a conclusion he did ask for the perspective of his other team members.

"I want to help," Choji said but unlike others who just saw a simple boy who was just a little chubby wanted to help people, Shikamaru saw much more here though, there was a determination in Choji's voice that others didn't catch, Shikamaru too only notice this because he has been such a good friend with Choji for such a long time and maybe somehow the reason he is like this is something to do with him.

Last time when training with Choji, Shikamaru explained to his best friend why they needed to get stronger, and just gave him a simple task.

"Go and fight an enemy shinobi, and fight like if he doesn't win then there is a possibility that someone you cherish will die, this way Choji you will learn just how important it is for us to get stronger, I can't explain you why I am doing this right now but believe me on this one, out of all the generation before us, we are the one who needs to get the stronger the most," 

'Maybe he remember that,' Shikamaru thought and just slightly nodded to himself, he never wanted to stress any of his team mate but it was true that they needed to get stronger if they wanted to survive in the future.

"I too want to help Sensei, let go there and kick that Doto's butt," Ino chirped with excitement while also giving a looked at Shikamaru which made him a little confused but he didn't think too much about it. 

Just like Sakura, Ino is useless right now, well she does have one thing over Sakura in the early Naruto phase, which is her clan mind transfer Jutsu. 

Asuma thought again and finally nodded in agreement, "Okay, then let's do the mission but remember if I say anytime that we are abandoning the mission then that means that we are abandoning the mission, no question asked." Asuma this time comanded.

"Hai Sensei," all three Genin replied.

Later on, when the crew was on the border of the Land of Snow, Shikamaru left his team and entered into a tunnel. After hours of travel, the crew finally decided to take a rest and this was his time to act on his idea.

He wasn't planning on doing this early considering who he has to fight next but now after finally knowing what's going on and what will happen in the upcoming mission, Shikamaru knew that he needed to tame his next spirit.

And unlike previously this time around he actually read the scroll to know what kind of spirit he was summoning, he learned his lesson the last time when he almost died under the hands of the giant grey werewolf. 

Although a great summon spirit, it's just that much harder to tame it. It was only becuase of his Grey Warewolf that they were able to catch an enemy shinobi alive. Shikamaru knew that he couldn't have if he was alone there.

And that was only the third spirit he summoned, the next spirit would be stronger and the one after that would be even more stronger.

No, he can't do that. He needs to prepare from now on before actually summoning a spirit to tame. According to the scroll, the next spirit should be a flying type of Pokemon, I mean a bird-like Spirit with the face of a human. The code name of this particular spirit is "NUE".

The biggest problem he gonna face when facing this particular spirit is the flying height. And this is the reason he came under a tunnel. If the damn bird except his reach limit then there is no way he can catch him. But there is more as Shikamaru plans to fully set a trap to help in out stop his next flying spirit. 

With that said, he started working.
