Chapter 8: The Third Hokage

Right when Naruto and Hinata was having their short encounter, in the Hokage office, a white-haired, sharp-eyed old man was currently holding onto a big pile of documents. Sighing, he slowly stood up from his seat.

That old man looked as though he's just a regular old man and wasn't a shinobi, but as he stood up from his seat, a powerful aura reminiscent of the powerful waves from the ocean exuded from him.

The entire Hokage office seemed to shake under the foot of the old man, as though the earth was struggling to prop up the body of the old man.

Weng!

Upon seeing the old man stand up, the surrounding Anbu troops all knelt down, and on the faces of their lowered head was a mix of respect and fear.

That expression was as though a weak insect meeting a gigantic elephant in the jungle. In reality, this white-bearded old man who seemed old and fragile was definitely one of the most authoritative figures in the entire shinobi world.

He was the pillar propping up the Konoha village who was hailed and the 'God of Shinobi', the Sandaime Hokage, Hiruzen Sarutobi!

"Hokage sama, our Anbu member who was in charge of observing Uzumaki Naruto have reported a few unusual movements from the boy." The Anbu guard said.

"Hmm? What's going on with that lad this time?" Hiruzen was interested.

"He stopped causing disorder in the village a few weeks ago and was seen camping at the outskirt of the village. However, the most shocking thing is that he was seen using a shadow clone ninjutsu to create a clone, replacing him in the academy." The Anbu guard reported with a grim voice.

The Hokage creased his brows and thought for a bit.

"Oh? To think that slow witted kid to actually master a B rank technique at a mere age of ten? Who taught him that? Is it Jiraiya? Or is it the nine tailed fox?" Hiruzen is still keeping his calm even though he was quite shocked internally.

"That Naruto boy has grown up. I guess he have already found out about his legacy. This isn't a matter which you should handle. Inform the Anbu squad to stop their observation on that lad. I'm sure he will come to find me sooner or later to explain everything." Hiruzen said.

The third Hokage doesn't need to wait for too long. Later that evening, Naruto calmly visited his office.

Seeing that the Third Hokage who was immersed in his paperwork, Naruto was filled with melancholy.

"Seems like I'm not the only one who had been tortured with paperwork. At least I can use shadow clone technique to reduce my burden. But the old man could barely summon two clones because of his diminished chakra reserves."

"It's amazing how he managed to fight both Orochimaru and the reanimated First and Second Hokage by himself with that pitiful amount of chakra. As expected from the 'God of Shinobi'." Naruto was filled with amazement when he thought back about the third Hokage.

"What are you staring at lad? Stop looking at me with that sympathetic eyes of yours. This amount of paperwork is nothing to me." Hiruzen said with the corner of his eyes twitching in amusement.

"So, tell me. When did you learn that shadow clone technique? You do realize it's a forbidden technique, right?" The third Hokage asked with a stern voice. But when observed carefully, his eyes were filled with pride when he looks at Naruto.

Naruto was shocked at first but then he just smiled wryly. "Seems like nothing can escape this old man's eye." Naruto thought.

After which, the entire office turned silent. The stilled atmosphere was extremely intimidating.

"Old man, I will be honest with you. My purpose of coming here today is to get the keys to the Namikaze estate. I'm thinking of moving there to train."

The third Hokage exhaled a cold breath. He has already expected Naruto to learn about his background. But to think that he can be as calm and collected is already beyond his expectation. In fact, he was expecting Naruto to throw a tantrum. Or blaming him for not telling his background from the start.

"Okay Naruto. So, I'm assuming you already know who your father is?"

Naruto nodded.

"Mind explaining how you learned about it? I'm sure my declaration for the matter to never be exposed should has never been broken." Hiruzen said.

On his way to the Hokage office, Naruto already pondered about what kind of excuse he should use to convince the shrewd old man. But in the end, he decided to just place all the blame on Kurama. It's not like the Hokage can communicate with Kurama anyway.

Naruto looks at Hiruzen directly into his eyes and said. "It was the nine tailed fox. Actually, he's not a bad guy. To tell you the truth, during the night when he was attacking Konoha, the nine tailed fox was actually being controlled by someone else."

The third Hokage face paled and asked Naruto with urgency. "What?! Someone with a power powerful enough to control the nine tailed fox existed? What's his name?"

Naruto choose to not inform the Hokage the whole truth. Telling him about Madara could induce mass panic and chaos to the shinobi world. And for that pitiful Obito, he still thinks that he could save him later in the future.

Naruto started narrating the event of that cursed night to the Third Hokage. Starting from his birth until the time when Kurama was sealed in his body.

"The nine tailed fox said he doesn't know that man's name. Besides, he was wearing a mask during the time. However, my father fought with him beforehand and win though." Naruto was full of pride when he mentioned his father.

The third Hokage heave a sigh and put the matter to the back of his mind. "Now that you've learned about your background, I recommend that you should keep it as a secret for now. Your father has made a lot of enemies during the third Shinobi war. And the fact that you have a tailed beast in you would turned you into a juicy meat pie in the eyes of those old fogey."

"Yeah I know it already old man. I'm not that stupid you know. By the way can I have my share of inheritance? I'm sort of lacking in money right now." Naruto pleaded with a puppy eye.

"Hahaha" The third Hokage guffawed. "You brat, is the stipend I gave you every month not enough? I wager you've spent all of your money on useless things."

Naruto just blushed without saying anything.

Poof!

The third Hokage summoned a small scroll out of thin air.

"Listen up lad. This is the key for the Namikaze estate. However even I don't know the exact location of the estate since your father have already sealed the place with a powerful fuinjutsu. One thing I know is that it's located near a stream in the south-eastern part of the village, and only a person with the Namikaze bloodline can find the place." The Hokage said.

"Your father has made a good amount of money during his years as a shinobi. I'll transfer all of them into your account later. But make sure to use it wisely. It would be three more years before you can take on missions and make your own money after all." The Hokage reminded.

Naruto just grinned widely and left after saying his thanks. Today with him already gotten the perfect training ground and substantial amount of money, he can now proceed further with his plan.

"Now what's left is to convince those guys to join my training camp. But it would be a pain in the ass for sure. Especially with that idiot Sasuke being an emo all the time." Naruto bemoaned.
