Chapter 2: My Partner, Kurama
A day have passed since Naruto realized that he has escaped death and woke up in his 10 years old self.
In his dilapidated apartment, Naruto sat on a cushion, deep in thoughts.
He had already been contemplating for a very long time.
Technically he has not been reborn or reincarnated. He basically only receives the memories from the future Naruto, the 40 years old Seventh Hokage with some extra abilities . The concept is pretty much the same as receiving the memories and experience from his shadow clone when one of the clones got dispelled.
"Hmm. I wonder why my brain doesn't get overloaded and damaged from those 40 years of memories? Is it due to that space time jutsu? And I seem to remember everything clearly. I'm pretty sure I didn't have eidetic memory before." Naruto mumbled to himself.
Since Kurama are only able to transfer his memories and not his soul, the current Naruto still have a soul of a ten-year-old kid. Because of that, although he started thinking like an adult, he is still that stupid happy go lucky and immature brat deep down.
The future Naruto, the Seventh Hokage is a battle-hardened shinobi. He was strong, wise and always surrounded by an aura of a charismatic leader, getting the respect from all shinobi around the world.
However, after the invasion from the foreign invaders, the death of his loved ones turned Naruto into a cool headed and calculating man. Nothing of resemblance to his younger self. He was always surrounded by a thick aura of bloodlust after killing millions of invaders by himself.
Fortunately, the current Naruto doesn't inherit his former soul. And because of that, he still does not fall into despair and can still have a positive outlook in life. Although he was saddened by the death of his love ones, he knew that he got a second chances to fix everything.
"I'm back to the past, although everyone from that time are already dead, but right now, they are still alive and living well. I shouldn't think about it too much. What I must do right now is to keep looking forward and try my best to prevent the future tragedy from repeating itself." Naruto thought.
His blue eyes shining bright, filled with hope and anticipation contrasting to the gloomy and dark eyes filled with despair of the older Naruto.
"What I need to do right now is to get stronger as fast as possible. So that I wouldn't be powerless when conflicts happen in the future. I'm still 10, and there's 2 more years before I'll get promoted into gennin. My current strength is still at the academy level. Tsk. Too bad I could not inherit my previous body. Right now, I can't even use rasengan because of this body lack of chakra control. Seems like I need to use the next couple of years wisely." Naruto lamented.
"My strength alone is not enough to prevent the future tragedy. While my strength is important, the strength of my future teammates is also crucial to fight the war"
Naruto thought. "But first-"
Suddenly his vision turned dark, and Naruto entered his mindscape. Lifting his head, he saw a massive gate with two giant walls around it, one on the left, one on the right. The gate is closed, and it was locked together by a single paper talisman.
Even though he knew the events from the future, he probably wouldn't be able to explain it all to his friends or even the Hokage. Given his current status as the village demon fox kid and troublemaker, there was no way they would listen to his words. They might just treat it as his new prank or something.
At this point, Naruto felt intense bitterness in his heart. He had no choice but to swallow his bitter gourd that he had sowed himself.
"No matter what, I can't continue acting like an idiot. I have to change everyone's impression of me by hook or by crook."
However, Naruto was fully aware that there is one guy that would understand and believe his story.
"ROAR!!! You brat! How the hell did you get in here?! Come here so that I can bite your head off!" The nine tailed fox roared near the gate while surrounded by a thick killing intent.
Upon hearing Kurama's threat, Naruto felt a surge of warmth. Only after losing it all did he know how to treasure them all.
Naruto saw Kurama roaring madly at him with bloodshot eyes. He doesn't even flinch or even intimidated from the killing intent directed at him. His lips curved upwards a little, but droplet of tears is visible from the corner of his eyes.
'Partner, thanks to your sacrifice, I got myself back to the past and finally have a chance to change the future and prevent that disaster.'
"Yo, partner! How are you doing? Aren't you bored sitting there alone all day long? Need someone to talk to? I'm all ears man." Naruto smirked while sitting cross-legged in front of the gate.
"Who the fuck is your partner you brat! Open the gate so that I can eat you and then kill all those shameless shinobi!!" The nine tailed fox roared with madness in his voice.
'Sigh, you used to really hate me that much huh Kurama?' Naruto thought to himself.
"Geez, Kurama, stop yelling man, it's only both of us here. I can hear you clearly. I'm not deaf you know"
"Roar! Stop messing with me brat! You shameless shinobi alway--,"
"Wait, what did you just call me?" Kurama face paled and his eyes wide open.
"Partner? My partner Kurama." Naruto said with a smile.
"Who told you that name brat! Only my old man and the other bijuus know my name! Not even Mito and Kushina knew that. Tell me! Who gave you my name?! I'll kill him first before chewing on your head!" Kurama bellowed with red eyes.
"Tsk tsk, come on partner. You want to kill yourself before eating me? How is that even possible?" Naruto chuckled.
"What do you mean brat? Do you take me, the great nine tailed bijuu as an idiot? When did I ever tell you my name? In fact, we've never talked even once after that damn blonde Hokage sealed me into your body. Unless-"
Naruto gave a genuine smile this time. "Heheh, Kurama, you sure are as sharp as ever,"
"Is it the old man space time jutsu? But how is it possible? I should have traveled in time together with you if I ever use that jutsu. And how does it possible for those damn siblings of mine to agree lending their chakra to you?"
Naruto took a long breath "It's a long story Kurama, let me share you the story of our journey from my past life."
"Speak! But don't you dare lie to me brat!" Kurama bellowed.
Naruto smiled and started narrating the journey that he took in his last life. From the time he was promoted to gennin, to the fight on the bridge with Zabuza, the chunnin exam, the training with Jiraiya, the fight with Pain, the fourth shinobi war, and lastly the years of war with the foreign invaders"
"Foreign invaders you say? Is it the Otsutsuki clan?" Kurama asked.
Naruto was shocked. "Oh? You already knew about them? But sadly, no it's not them. The Otsutsuki did try to invade our land though. But me and the other shinobi successfully defeated them. And after combining the power of sage of six path from both me and Sasuke, we manage to cast a fuinjutsu on their bloodline and from there on, anyone with the otsutsuki clan blood besides Hagoromo and Hamura will find it impossible to enter our world ever again as their existence itself are now rejected by our world."
Unfortunately me and Sasuke depleted our sage of six path power because of that. Due to that we couldn't use the fuinjutsu again when the foreign invaders come into our world" Naruto lamented while sighing to himself with regrets.
Kurama fall silent for a few minutes to digest all the information given by Naruto.
"I still couldn't trust everything you said brat, but if it's true then you must get stronger. Stronger than your past life to prevent the calamity. Prove yourself to me and if I'm satisfied, I'll stop thinking about eating you and lend you my power"
"Hahahahaha, who are you trying to fool here Kurama? We both know you never ate humans. And getting stronger? Yeah it was in my plan all along." Naruto mocked.
"You need to depend on yourself this time kid." Kurama said with a pissed voice.
"Thanks, Kurama but I'm planning for the exact same thing. Before my death I finally realized something. Without your power, I am quite useless. But this time I'm gonna train hard to be the best shinobi out there. And your power would be the added bonus to my arsenal along with the uchiha bloodlines you gave me!" Naruto declared with bright eyes.
"Whatever kid. Your current body is weaker than an ant to receive my power anyway. Now you can get lost! I want to continue my sleep." Kurama said with a pissed off voice. But if you looked carefully, his eyes is brimming with expectation for the future events.
