Chapter 5

Hinata's POV (Dream)

It was the middle of the war and Hinata had been sent over towards the eastarn border towards the coast of Kiri to make sure none of the reanimation Puppets came across any coastal villages. She had arrived with four other chuunin but they had decided to spread up in order to cover more ground, Hinata having the byakugan volunteered to be within the middle of the group so that she would be able to keep an eye on everyone as long as they were in a 10km range.

Sitting within a tree hidden from plain view Hinata waited patiently having to Walkie in on their current status every 5 minutes or if they saw something they had to report it immediately.

5 minutes later…

"North Clear"

"West Clear"

"South Clear"

No response. Then Static. Heavy breathing. Finally a scream. The first to react was Hinata as she was the closest, leaping from tree to tree at top speed she pushed her byakugan to the max trying to catch a trail of where he could have gone, finally after a few moments of searching she had caught sight of a pool of blood but no body.

"North, West, South, I found blood but I can't find 'East' anywhere… What are your current locations?"

Nothing.

Neither answering nor was she able to see anyone else Hinata did the first thing that came to mind, RAN.

No one answering, blood, it could only mean one thing. They had been surrounded.

*Creak*

The sound of a breaking branch brought an immediate halt to her escape plan. She had been surrounded already but what scared her the most was that no matter how close the sounded no matter how much the air reeked of blood, she still could not see a single one. It wasnt making sense, even if someone could hide their chakra she would still be able to see them. Unless…

GENJUTSU!

Putting her hands together in order to perform the 'release' Hinata had barely enough time to react to the kick heading straight towards her face.

Blocking it Hinata had used the attackers strength against him allowing herself to get pushed back in order to gain distance to analyze the situation she was in, and what she saw paled in comparison to anything she has had to face so far.

With The Genjutsu being released finally enabled her byakugan to see. 56 chakra signatures were shown surrounding her, in each one chakra seemed to be flowing through their eyes.

"So it seems a little Hyuga girl got lost"

"UGHH why do they all have to have those disgusting eye's"

"Hhehhehehe Lets play around with her for a bit"

56 Uchiha shinobi, Surrounding one little Hyuga.

Hinata knew where this was going to lead up to. She was going to die here along with the rest of her teammates who came here, or even worse they might really intend to 'play' with her, such things were not uncommon during a war. She knew all of this yet was to frozen in fear to even attempt to move.

"Just kill her nice and easy so we can get this over with" Even though they both came from the same village none of that mattered anymore. They were no longer the Uchiha of the Leaf village, but simply Killers.

Unable to move Hinata could only watch in fear as more than a dozen people took out kunai's ready to throw at her at any moment's notice. 'Move. Please move!'

"Now."

All she could do was watch as every kunai came flying towards her, inch by inch the closer it got the more her own heart sped up, until. *Thwack*.

'A branch?'

Now imbedded into the trees in front of Hinata was a branch not more than 4 inches thick and 3 feet tall containing all of the kunai that had been thrown at her. She suddenly felt a chill on the back of her neck and sensed another presence.

Before she could react to it she felt herself being picked up, The person's arm had wrapped around her waist tightly and then she felt as if her center of gravity has changed. From being in the branches of the trees one moment to being 20 meters from her previous location in less than an instant.

Turning her head to look at the one who had just saved her all she saw was what she saw every time she had this dream. A pair of brown eyes with the most beautiful golden cross as pupils a scar on his forehead, and the most dazzling smile she had ever seen.

---------

"AHHHH!" Waking up with sweat dripping down her back Hinata could only take shallow breaths as she tried to calm her racing heart.

'It's only a dream, its only a dream'

Reaching underneath her pillow she pulled out a green eye mask that seemed to have been a bit worn down and clutched it tightly to her chest.

"How am I supposed to give this back if you are no longer here…"
